Uh, you cannot make a blanket accusation like that and just leave it at that. Unlike other forums, ES requires all accusations to be backed up by hard facts and evidence you may have on hand. That is because one of our aims is to properly warn the students of scam sites, based on gathered information. Otherwise, you just look like a disgruntled former writer of the company wanting to get back at them. If you can, please present additional evidence to support your claims. I mean, we already know there is a possibility that the site you mention is a scam, as they usually are, but we need more than just your ranting and raving to convince us of that fact.

@klaqwaq
You have done everything properly. There is no need to panic because the work you submitted was your own. Believe me, they will not go to your university to report anything knowing that they have no evidence to present in support of their claims. I agree with @a1writer, do not listen to the other writers at this forum who are only actively participating in threads to help with their self promotion. They can lead you astray and cause you to end up in academic trouble in the future. You should definitely look into using AI for your future work. You can use that as a template for your own work, allowing you to insert the necessary citations where needed. You will still have done the writing yourself, universities and colleges around the world are relaxing their AI usage rules in classrooms so you should ask about your school policy so you can use AI to your full academic advantage.

@a1writer
This guy did not even understand the question. His answer is way off base. I cannot believe that students would actually hire this guy as their academic ghost writer. Half the time, he sounds like he had an AI write his post for him. His overuse of highly academic and advanced English words makes him suspect when it comes to how the writing is actually done. It simply does not flow as naturally as it should for a human written post. There are just too many suspicious flags in his self serving posts that should make students think twice about hiring him. No, his service model does not work. He will eventually be asking students for deposit payments upfront. Nobody can work for free, without an assurance that the work will be accepted and paid for by the student.

Please stop trying to lecture the professional writers about how to do their jobs at this forum. That is not the purpose of this board. You are still in the learning process yourself when it comes to academic writing so you have no business posting the lessons you are learning about how to do your job. No matter how flowery your words are, it will not erase the fact that you write in an ESL manner. Students can see right through you and are better warned not to even consider using your services. You overpromise in regards to your services. Which means the students will be conscious enough to know that you will under perform and also, require endless revisions to any work that you do for them.

Wow! This advertisement really sounds like a thesaurus and a dictionary threw up all over it. Congratulations, you have shown the students that you know how to use a thesaurus and also, use the words in an exaggerated context via a dictionary learned meaning. There is nothing fluid about the way you wrote. This carefully crafted advertisement for a payment scheme that no student seems to be interested in will not move your business forward. You were so careful with your word usage that no student will be convinced that you will be able to write in a natural manner that would mimic their own writing. You are actually not promoting your business properly at this point. You fail to see that because you do not speak English naturally.
noted

You have not said anything new. There is nothing exemplary about your service and your payment model is not unique. There are already several writers here that have employed that model. Does it work for them? Sure it does. Does it benefit the client? Not necessarily. It still does not protect the client from abuse. By the way, you already admitted that you are not an ENL writer and that geographical location should not be a consideration when hiring a writer. Actually it does matter. The way you write in English using the version of English spoken in your country will be a dead giveaway to the professor. So no, I would not hire a writer who is not from the same country as I am. As for your payment scheme. Nobody can tell you about the merits and demerits. That is something you will have to learn from experience and adjust based on the problems that arise.

It is very good to know that there is a student who managed to beat the scammers at their own game. More importantly, that he got off with a mere slap on the wrist from the university. I agree, he should not do that ever again. I hope he learned his lesson and he will not forget how it felt to have that sort of fear any time soon. Next time, he should get a ChatGPT assist instead and then work on his original essay from there. Though it could be a bit problematic at times, the AI actually helps students come up with clear and proper essays when necessary. It produces good sample essays for students to follow.

@OOC1997 Since you had already submitted the paper 3 days prior, there was nothing more that could be done. There was no sense in having it proofread and asking for comments after the deadline had closed. You should have just taken confidence in the paper that you wrote and waited for the outcome. Your eagerness to learn if you had written an academically acceptable paper was your downfall in this case. You fell into a trap that was set for nervous students such as yourself. While I do not think anything will come of their threat, you should still be prepared just in case. @a1writer has given you sound advice. Follow it. Remember, next time, proof reading and editing, comments, are collected before you submit the paper, not after.

@a1writer It is these little differences in spelling and grammar that make a world of difference in a written paper. It is also the easiest way for a professor or teacher to catch a student who has used contract cheating to complete his paper. Students may not pay attention to these small differences, but the trained eye can tell, which is why they should not be hiring non UK educated writers to complete their papers. Even if a keyboard is set to UK to circumvent the spelling issue, the overall sentence structure will definitely not be UK based as the Americans have a different way of speaking and writing. So students should be very careful about hiring a non UK based writer for any reason.

Hey @Steff4838. Can you give us an update on the blackmail front? How have you dealt with the blackmailers so far? Have they stopped trying to contact you? Please let us know what is going on with you at the moment. We worry about the students who have been blackmailed. Some of them really end up in trouble because they lack guidance when it comes to properly addressing the problem. I hope that you have gotten out of this jam safely.

By the way, I do agree with @a1writer, you should consider using AI for writing your essays in the future. You can clean it up and you can also make it a far more original work than any hired writer can ever do for you.

Writing Careers / How about Buy words biz? [8]

The company continues to be out of existence. Although it appears that someone has bought the domain name at this point. It just hasn't been connected to an active server yet. Let's hope it does not return as another scam essay writing company. We still have plenty of those even as the others continue to close shop.

Essay Services / customwritings.com - FRAUD SITE!! [21]

This is exactly my point. All companies are required to create a clear refund explanation on their websites. They have to be clear about the procedure and how long a refund will take. This website does not do that. All they say is that they will credit the money back to the credit card. That does not help the client in any way. It does not explain what they need to know should the need to refund their order arise. It is not covered in detail, or even in a summary manner at the website. That is just plain wrong. Only a scam would do such a thing.

This is one domain name that GoDaddy has been trying to sell for quite sometime. The price for the domain name has dropped to $50. Meaning it is at a rock bottom price. The company just wants to offload this name already. It has been in their ownership for far too long and the company now wants its money back, even if they have to take a loss to do it. There are just some domain names not worth squatting over. This is one of those names.

Almost all the hiring websites these days use an ebayesque manner of hiring writers. They come in, place their bid and give their CV for the hiring end to use. The idea being that the other side has the freedom to hire writers based on a fluid criteria. It is important to note that the writers hired through this process go through a stricter screening consideration than if they were hire directly, via PM, email, or any other channel. The writers who get hired through this manner are usually the most skilled at the potential project they will be hired to write about.

The company name was just recently disconnected from the internet. It is officially a dead website at this point. The company has ceased to exist under this particular name. That is not to say that the company is officially dead though. It may have just decided to go by a new name to help lessen the negative publicity that was affecting their client recruitment process. It is never easy for a company that gained a bad rep to successfully bring in new clients. They have to get creative if they want to say in business. Maybe they are still around and we just don't know it. A new name? A new domain name? Those 2 things could immediately work to their benefit.

I do not believe the OP ever meant this post to be anything more than a sarcastic look at the way writing companies pay their writers. Note that he did not give any specifics with regards to the hiring process, his company name, or even a way to contact him other than by PM at this forum. Yet there are writers who decided to engage him in an online debate. Who was the bigger fool at the time? I think the ones who actually duked it out with the OP hoping to discredit him, when he never said anything that could be considered credible anyway. Sometimes it is just so easy to bait these old timers.

Being a company that specializes in law papers, UK law papers at that, they are very specific about their functions within the realm of the Post 16 Educational Bill. They are informing the students of the UK regarding how the law affects the work the company does, who they can work for, and from what locations. They are on the level when it comes to that. They will not work on any papers that will allow the student to breach the law. So they must truly be UK based lawyers or UK educated. Unlike others, they are not willing to breach the law for the sake of an income. They know what is at stake for the students and they will not allow the student to sacrifice his future for the sake of an easy grade. That makes them legit in my book.

Most people who require volume writing of these sort no longer use academic writing companies or online writing websites. They go directly to the employment sites and recruit from there. It is easier to put together a team that way. The writer hires are all aligned in terms of skills and project costing, making it far easier to work within a preset budget. I have seen advertisements for these sorts of projects at online job sites. They indicate how many writers they need, along with other skills and knowledge criteria for hiring. It often works to the benefit of the person putting the team together, who is usually the person who needs the project done. These direct team hiring methods are one reason why writing companies have found themselves in a position where they can no longer work on large projects using several writers from their company. Clients prefer to interview their potential writers personally these days.

Students running on a tight budget will definitely find that the price of hiring a writer directly is far more affordable than if they hired a writing service. The freelancers can offer a lower price because there is less for them to consider when it comes to running their company. They do not act as middlemen who find the clients, then mark up the writer price so that they can make their own income. The writing company is basically nothing more than a client source for the writers. It is the increased charges that the company puts on the writer price that often bloats the costing. Something that freelancers do not have to do since they get every penny of the payment for themselves. There is no profit sharing between the company and the writer when it comes to freelancer services.

The company claims that the students can personally claim / refund their money if they are dissatisfied with the service provided. The bold claim is highlighted in their front page. Here is the catch though, they never explained how the student will be able to do this. What is the criteria for an auto refund? How does the auto refund system work? Why should the student trust that the company will not give them a hard time should the need to do a chargeback happen? There are so many unknown factors when it comes to the chargeback claim that it appears they are not honest about what they are saying. When one says something, but does not back it up with the actual process, it is safe to assume that the company is lying to the potential client.

GoDaddy seems to on a roll here. They are constantly buying up active, but non-usable domain names. They are basically using squatters rights on the name, making sure that anybody who is wants to use the name will have to come to them and pay a premium price to get the name released to them for use. They are turning out to be just as bad as the scam companies that used to own the name. They will bleed the potential business owner dry by milking the name for the use of the new owner. It would be best not to encourage such negative practices in a company that specializes in domain name registration.

Writing Careers / Myessays.com - good to write for? [56]

The domain name has been kept active at GoDaddy.com. It is available for use for the same purposes it was originally intended, provided the person buying the address is willing to pay a premium price for it. If you are looking to buy a legitimate domain name, with a good reputation attached to it, this is not the url for you. The company has way too much negative publicity for it to be considered a viable name to bring back online for use. It would be better for you to consider developing your own original url instead. Purchasing a second hand name only comes with headaches and claims for refunds from previous clients who were dissatisfied with the service, and will not realize the company is under new management / a totally different owner.
noted
Jul 25, 2023

The legitimat ename by which the company is more popularly known has decided to keep their url active with a message about the company shutting its doors permanently due to the diversified interests of the company owners and writers. Sounds like a legitimate reason for shutting its doors to the student population. It could also just be a way for them to save face though. To show people that they know they have gotten a bad rep that is impossible to overcome, so they are using a well known out clause in the business to get around that problem. Even the secondary domain name that they used is no longer active. I choose to believe that this company has been firmly shut down by its owners and that they have no intention of reviving this business in the future. They might sell the old domain name though. They are keeping the anchor page active and no company does that unless they have plans to sell the web address in the future.

Can anybody confirm if the Ukrainians are still capable of keeping these websites running the way that they used to? Is the country still able to conduct regular internet based business considering the toll the year long war has taken on their internet lines and other communication channels? How do they manage to do it? The reason I ask is because I heard that the companies based out of Ukraine, even with their servers overseas, are encountering problems with client recruitment and writer payment. Their connection is not stable so their companies are barely staying online as of now. Is any of this true? Does this mean we will probably be rid of Ukraine writing scams in the future?

Assignment scholars seems to be a legit academic help website. It does not offer to write papers for students. Rather, it encourages the use of online meeting tools to assist the student with their studies. That is a commendable undertaking for the company. It actually helps with the learning process rather than encouraging contract cheating. I believe that this is related to the strict and implementable anti essay mill laws that Singapore has decided to use to keep their students honest and excited about learning.

The second website is nothing more than a scam. It won't even let you get into the front page unless you give them access to your name and email address. That is an immediate red flag right there. You should not have to submit any personal information to any website, specially one that you are just checking out, just so you can access and look over their website services.

General Talk / Guess who owns PlagTracker.com [15]

This glorified writing service uses the guise of a legitimate plagiarism tracker for their data collection means. They are not honest about their services. They do not tell you that they are keeping your paper on file and that they will be contacting you in the future about the said paper, hoping to blackmail you before you graduate. That is the modus that they pull. They actually prefer to have lower class clients than senior class members using their services. The lower year levels allows the company a better chance of using all the information they collect once the student reaches his senior year. It is all about fear timing for them. Making sure they can inflict maximum fear into the student and ensuring that the student will be more than willing to pay up in the process. Students do not understand this when they sign up for the service. They do not even bother to check who the owners are and if there have been complaints about the company. There have been complaints and it is up to the students to find that information for themselves. There are more reputable plagiarism checkers out there, find those and use those instead.

When a company uses a UK address, regardless of whether it is just a postal box or an actual location, it immediately falls under the academic laws governing that land. In this case, the UK address removes the authority of these companies, to perform essay writing services for students since that has been prevented by the law already. Therefore, these companies can be prosecuted to the full extent and the students, will learn that there are consequences to pay for hiring writing services, regardless of the location of the writing company. Rules are rules, strictly adhere to these if you wish to keep your certification upon graduation. The minute you hire a writing service of any sort, you risk losing your diploma in the future. That is not a risk any student should be willing to take.

Students will seek more affordable writers at older sourcing venues. It is all about being able to work with a writer within their budget. While I agree that Craigslist is not a reliable channel for such services, it does work for some students. So we cannot judge the validity of the academic writers to be found at that site. However, we should not be endorsing or not endorsing such possible hiring venues either. All the available venues carry the same risk for the student. It does not matter where the writer is hired. It is the actual character of the writer that comes into play. Is he honest or not? That is what the student has to learn to judge before hiring. That way the regrets are avoided at the end of the day.

Tis is a freelancer who gives freelancing a bad name. She probably used a fake name and fake email address to get into the business. The way she works did not qualify her as a learned academic writer. Just someone who was taught that cut and paste is the way to write a paper. So it is more than likely that this is a little educated 3rd world writer who thought she would just make a quick buck by pretending to be a student service oriented writer.

Always be careful when hiring an independent academic writer. You never know who you will be hiring and what the actual quality of that persons work, and true level of education might be.

Wow! We are supposed to trust the company because they have an NDA with their writers. Impressive! Not ! Jsut once I would like to come across a writing company that has an NDA with their clients instead. That would at least assure the students they will not be blackmailed in the future when the writer or company needs an influx of money. An NDA only works when the students are protected from the company and the writers. An NDA between the writer and the company does not protect the student. They make no assurances of never blackmailing the student without an NDA. That should be a mandatory document before hiring a service if you ask me.

The company has misrepresented itself to the student clients. The first time you come to the page, you will think that they are offering assistance instead of writing services. Their name would lead one to think that they are some sort of tutoring service, which they are not. They are trying to circumvent academic laws across the globe by using a misleading company name. They are ineffective and little educated academic writers. They do not have the capacity to write high level papers for students. They cannot even teach the students if they tried. I do not understand why the domain name directs to a pop up that requires the student to pre-register before gaining full access to the page. I found a way around that requirement and did not submit any information to them. I am not sure if the other students knew that they could get around that requirement though. It sounds to me like this site is an information collecting tool and nothing more. It does not even mask the domain name anymore. You get a bunch of gibberish letters in the web address bar, which means there is more than just blackmail on the minds of the site owners. It is too risky to hire this company. Their intentions could be criminal for all we know. They are going to use the information they collect in the future. We just cannot be sure how they plan to do it.

I eas just talking about this company in the previous post. It certainly looks like they are not well equipped to write any research papers. Their writers do not even know how to source accurate information from reliable academic sources. I guess students have to learn the hard way that an IP trace is important when hiring writing services. They should not just look the part of an academic writer on the web, their information should be accurate as well. Otherwise you end up getting exactly what this student got, a paper not worth the time it took to do the cut and paste job.

Only 2 of the lsited domain names are still active. Looks like the company was forced to downsize for some reason. Well, okay, maybe not downsize the company itself, they use the same writers pool for each company name anyway, but they were forced to let go of some domain names due to the expense of maintaining the names. If the company names were not bringing in the kind of money they expected, and they were having to defend the company names more and more, better business sense would definitely lead them to shut down the problematic domains. The 2 active ones are the ones with the highest client return rates I guess. Otherwise they would have kept just one name by now.

Regardless of how we may view the writing service, only one thing is clear, it somehow has the managed to keep the trust of the students over the years. The company is still in existence despite the negative publicity it sometimes receives, which I believe is par for the course when it comes to academic writing companies. Students will never be truly satisfied with a service they are paying for. However, they have satisfied enough students and continue to do acceptable service to new clients, which has managed to keep them in business. So they must be doing something right. Although, the negative information about them must be considered an integral part of the vetting process when one considers hiring them. Just make sure you will be a satisfied client instead of a victim.

Zarins had some concerns over the 'excessive' need for citations

It is a definite red flag when a writer chooses to fill his paper with one too many citations. Simply sticking citations in there is not writing a paper. That is called research. The information should be used to create a new thought, inform the reader of advanced considerations, or offer an understanding of the study that can be gleaned from combining all this information. Simply citing the information and calling it a research paper is a scam. No teacher or professor will give a passing mark to any student whose paper relies heavily on other people's words instead of his own perspective discussion. This "writer" had no idea how to do the job. It was meant to be a quick money grab which the OP thankfully, did not fall for.

Mainly because of the negative information that leaks out when interested parties look into the domain name background. It is hard enough to start a company in the age of AI writing, without the bad publicity that accompanies a particular internet address. Steer clear of this one if you are a person looking to start in the business. You would not want to be associated with this name in particular.

CustomPapeers may have a good writing staff on hand. They do not receive much complaints about their services and I have not heard anything super negative about the company from other sources. They do seem to have a pricing problem though. They seem to price their papers too high for regular students to afford. It isn't that the prices are unreasonable from what I have seen. I think it is more of a budgetary problem for the students that would like to use their services. They work on a bidding system to the writer charges a different price from the one the student actually gets a quote for. So the rise in price could be attributed to overpricing coming from the writer or, the company itself. Their services are good and trustworthy for the most part so it may be worth it to give the company a try.

There may have been a time when freelance writers were trustworthy people who could compete with the academic writing companies in terms of honest. All of that has changed. There is no real reason why students should trust an independent writer more than a writing company. They can both be honest, they can both be dishonest. For the freelancers, it is all about personal integrity, honesty, and a willing desire to help a person. Not all of them are like that anymore. Some are out to con students, some are out to blackmail. It all depends upon what their actual desire is. They can be just as unaccountable as a writing company if they choose to be. Use guarded trust when dealing with writers directly. I am not saying they are all dishonest, just that you have to protect yourself from potential future blackmail.

Do you realize how stupid this post sounds? I agree that a freelance writer should have a resume or CV to present should a client ask. That helps prove his writing skill to a certain degree. Now, if the writer needs to hire a professional to write his CV / resume then, he has no business being in any sort of writing field. It is obvious that you hired one, which is why you are suggesting it to others. That is the main reason why no student or professional looking for a writer at this forum should hire you. Do not hire a writer who cannot write his own resume / CV.
