Hey everyone,
I've gotten an essay written once before by Freelance Writer and had a great experience, excellent marks and prompt delivery (even before I asked for it due) and so was comfortable with getting another essay done by someone again. I know I should've went with Freelance again but I thought I could save a few dollars ( Freelance is very reasonable and it wasn't much but I'm a struggling uni student here), so I went with someone else (regretting this big time). Anyways, this has turned out to be disastrous even though I gave them about more than a months notice for a 3000 word essay. I asked more than a few days before it was due how they were going with the essay just to make sure everything was good before the due date. We are in different time zones so I made sure to stress that when I needed it was during my time zone. They said just to pay half as a deposit through PayPal. This sounded fine to me.
They didn't reply so I sent another email and they replied saying they were sorry they hadn't replied as they'd been quite sick all week but it would be done. I again reiterated the time I needed it and they said this would be fine. And again, just to confirm, I spoke to them the day of saying I needed it in 7 hours as it was due then and I sent the other half of the payment over (stupid but I felt I could trust them and I wanted it ASAP and so that I could just get it when they were done). They said no worries, it would be done.
However, when the time I asked for it came there was no email or anything. Then the due date/time of my essay passed too and there was still no reply. About three hours after I was expecting a reply I got an email containing apologies as they had gotten the time mixed up but that wasn't the main issue - 80% into the work, their cat had stepped on their computer while they were gone for a second and their computer crashed. They said they were devastated however they had all the detailed notes and research done, it was just the writing left - which wouldn't take long, maybe about 24 hours or less (because they were engaged that day) and if I didn't mind losing 5-10% they'd give it to me as soon as it was done and refund me how much I was penalized.
Sure, I was upset but I'm a reasonable person, so I thought fair enough. I put my feelings aside and said it was fine as long as I got it the next day. However, the 24 hours passed and they hadn't sent it. I sent an email saying I don't want to be penalized anymore, could they please send it. I got an email 12 hours later saying sorry, they thought it had sent through as they were rushing out that morning but it didn't and they would send it as soon as they got home 12 hours later. It's been more than 24 hours since I've been expecting the essay and 36 hours since the last reply and since then I've sent about 4-5 emails desperately.
I'm not sure what to do now, I've been penalized more than 20% now and am forced to try for special consideration to get an extension.
I have not named and shamed as I'm holding on to the last strand of hope that the worst has happened every time and my essay will be sent through tonight and I know how important reputation is if you're a freelance writer. I thought I did enough research to make me trust this writer - they've posted on here a few times and have their own website. I'm very upset and this is unnecessary stress - something I really don't need during exam times. I feel very stupid for trusting as well and I know not to be like this ever again.
