Investing Tax-Payers Money in Arts or Public Services?
Question: Government investment in the arts, such as music and theatre, is a waste of money. Governments must invest this money in public services instead. To what extent do you agree with this statement?
Nowadays, the government is spending money on arts, like music and theater. Some people advocate this idea and others argue that this money should not be wasted and must be used in public services. I believe that this statement is terribly wrong. The arts of the county is of out most importance to its culture. What defines a country is its art, so the government should fund money in building theaters in order to give a chance for preforming folklore dancing and arts. In addition, the government must also invest money in operas to give a chance for the people to show their talents especially in singing. The operas can also open temporary galleries for extremely talented photographers who captures natural photos of their country and people preforming their traditions.
Moreover, the arts are also beneficial for economical reasons. If the government help in building museums, it will not only show the country's art, but also will attract the tourists. Hence, the government will make profit from them. Lastly, should the government invest money in constructing a land , which will hold a festival every weekend with folklore music and food, more people from all over the world will be willing to visit and learn more about the country. Thus, the tourism will improve and more money will be made.
In conclusion, i am a strong advocate to the idea of investing money in the arts. Since it will not only improve the county culturally, but also financially.
