People have different views that whether business should take responsibilities for the whole society apart from making money. I personally agree with the view that business also have social responsibilities.Admittedly, the main purpose to set up company is making profit from day to day business. Without the sufficient cash flow, the owner of business can not survive and continue to make further investment. However, it is most likely that too much emphasis on the money but not the social responsibilities will damage the relationship with local community, and even cause some society issue such as corruption. There will be a tendency that people only focus on money instead of environment, morality and technical innovation.
Taking responsibilities is more likely to be mutual beneficial for both the business and local community in terms of employment, environment and reputation. First of all, company should have the responsibility to recruit local qualified employee instead oversea, and allocate sufficient cost for training. It is widely believed that local employee is much cheaper and more stable than the temporary workers from other locations. Furthermore, to solve the employment issue would contribute to the stability of society and reduce the invisible cost for the company. The company should also support the education through training and sponsorship which will boost the reputation.
For example, some international company increase their influence through sponsoring the scholarship for some excellent students, which I believe more and more students will choose the company as their first choice after graduation.
In sum, making money is a basic requirement for the business. In order to keep sustainable development, it is recommendable the company take more responsibilities for society and college / university graduates.
