Hi there,
Please no judging.
I have done something so so so stupid that i regret so much!
Last month i had an online exam, i have not revised anything for this exam and beingvso scared to fail it i hire someone to do it on my behalf (i know its wrong! I dont know how i did this!) but at the time i was so desparate , I am a recent single mum student.

i am going through sooo much hard time being alone and 300 miles away from my family with a sick child! I know this is not exuses and i do regret what i did so badly! The guilt is eaten me up!

Now the problem is the essay mill service i used for the exam received an email from my university explained that their IP address flagged up as suspicious and asking for evidence and confirmation of the student that used this service which is me?

I have not heard anything from university myself, but i am so so so scared that i will ill get expelled from this course! My life is over if this happens!!

Please advice do i wait to hear from uni? Or do i go and approach and admit my mistake?
Please advice as this is affecting my mental health, im unable to eat or sleep and look after my toddler!

I still havent heard from my university, but the essay people are saying that they hired some legal advisors to see if they can remove their IP address from university data base (at this point iv realised this is a scam and they will start blackmailing me soon), i did make the mistake of transfering £100 to them! I did it out of fear!!

They messaged me today asking to pay the remaining balance which is £200,i said i m not payong as i am withdrawing from uni anaways then blocked them!

I am extremely sick worried!! They will ruin my whol career if they contact my uni :/

No they didn't. That's just their attempt to lure you into their game. In the event that a university really suspects cheating, they'd never contact an essay company or writer; they'd contact the student, directly. Take my earlier advice in your other thread, don't continue posting about it or responding to them; and whatever you do, do NOT contact your school "preemptively." That's the biggest mistake you could possibly make. Don't fall for fabricated emails "from your school" sent to you by the company, either. If the school really has any suspicions and contacts you about those suspicions, they'll contact you through the regular means through which they've always contacted you about anything else. Block their emails so that you don't even see them.

Yes, that was a mistake. It also illustrates that if you send them any money, they'll just continue blackmailing you for more. The advice is the same: block and ignore all future contact from them via any medium. If you paid by credit card, try to reverse it through your credit card by explaining the situation. They may or may not help you stop the payment; but don't worry about the credit card company contacting your school; they don't care what services you paid for and any information you provide them will be treated as confidential.

Sorry I am late to the conversation but I thought I would add my 10 cents to it. Maybe you will find it helpful @Agirl33.

Rest assured the university is oblivious to the existence of your cheat. Why? There are some universities that reverse trace the IP of the student when he logs in to complete the test. They do this specifically because they know students tend to outsource the exam completion, specially in the light of the Covid hybrid educational system. Even with the correct access codes, when an IP tracker is in place for the test, the writer you hired would not gain access to the system. His IP would immediately be blocked by the uni system.

In this case, your uni was not equipped with such a system so the writer was able to take the test for you. That is also the reason why they think you can be blackmailed. Believe me, the uni is not aware that you had someone take the test for you. They would have contacted you soon after the test was completed to begin an inquiry if they had reason to suspect you. Do not pay out any more money to these people.

Since you are in the UK, I believe that this is one situation were one of our regular forum participants, who is a retired UK academic writer can help you. He could be more familiar with your situation than any of us here who are better acquainted with the US system, so the advice given to you may be faulty. @a1writer, can you lend a helping hand or offer more relevant advice to the student concerned?

Please note though that the IP information I shared here is common knowledge in the business and should have been the first reference for you. Be confident in the knowledge that your future is secure. They cannot ruin it. Most specially since you are withdrawing from the school anyway.

As @noted has suggested, I am more than happy to help you. It is probably better to send me a Private Message. Do not be tempted to seek help from anyone based in USA as they are unfamiliar with the British education system. I am based in England.

Sit tight and ignore any contact from the essay mill company. They are just trying to scare you into paying them more money. It is a scam.

You wrote 'Now the problem is the essay mill service i used for the exam received an email from my university explained that their IP address flagged up as suspicious and asking for evidence and confirmation of the student that used this service which is me?'

This is part of their scam. I bet they have not received any such email from your university.
If you don't recognise the number do not answer your phone. They will only stop when they know they cannot persuade you to send them more money. Then they will move on to another person to scam.

my advice is just listen to these experts on this forum @freelancewriter @noted @a1writer
they have this rivalry between them but they come together when someone is asking for help here, and I love them for that, dysfunctional family lol.

just listen to them and take their advice. everyone one of them helped me and it upsets me these essay mill services blackmail students like that.

and that is my honest opinion.

I know it is easier said than done but just try and stop worrying. Watch a film or something to distract you.
It is out of your hands and tomorrow you will have the results. Not long to wait now.

No, not exactly the same as yours. But unscrupulous blackmailers are always looking for the next victim.
Now instead of posting on here why haven't you started watching a film?! All 4 Walter Presents has some good dramas to take your mind off things.

Let us know the results of your test. If possible and if you feel comfortable doing so, tell us the company name. That way the other students will be forewarned about this scam company.

Hoping for the best possible exam results for you! Hang in there. It is almost over.

I hope you altered the login credentials. Don't let those lousy scammers gain access to your account. Keep them off totally and don't panic at all. There is more to life than exams. I mean you can worry about many things in life other than exams. College life has lots of ups and downs and this one is just one of them. It is a life stage.

Hi, I'm going through the same thing at the moment and I too have transferred threat money. They Ofcourse asked for more money after I don't that but I have since blocked and deleted any form of communication with them but I'm just so worried they are going to contact my uni, I have no idea how they found out what uni went to but they know.

What's the update with you, did anything come of it Barr the plagiarised exam, did they physically speak to your uni. I feel so sick, I cant eat, I'm not sleeping great. TIA

As I explained in Posts # 2 & 4, earlier in this thread, that's why it's always a mistake to pay them anything and to continue responding at all to any of their messages. What's the company involved, and just out of curiosity, how did you find those companies in the first place and how is it that so many of you don't check this forum before choosing a source for your essays and only come here after it's too late to help you avoid getting ripped off and/or blackmailed? The OP of this thread ended up using me for her project, but not until first going through this nonsense with her blackmailers. Incidentaly, when people contact me privately about this before posting anything about it publicly, I always advise them against posting about it at all, unless they plan on identifying the company for the benefit of others. Those companies probably do monitor forums such as this one, and when they see your posts, they probably know which of their victims you are, so your public posts only encourage them to continue threatening you, because they realize how scared you are of what they're threatening to do to you, even if you're following my advice about not responding to any of their messages and blocking every number and/or email account from which they manage to continue contacting you.

Those companies probably do monitor forums such as this one,......

This is likely true, as of course do the authorities who are looking for cheating.
