Help I'm being extorted/ Black mailed

Yes I messed up. I originally had worked with this writer with an online company then he reached out that he would be willing to do it outside of the company and now I'm dealing with the consequences. Do I tell my school, do I withdraw? What do I do?

The best thing you (and anybody else in the same situation in the future) could do for the benefit of others would be to post here (just once) to identify the blackmailer by name and email, as well as the company that employs him. That helps others avoid becoming victims and it imposes some negative consequences on the blackmailer.

What you (and anybody else in the same situation in the future) should definitely not do is continue posting more details and asking for help, publicly, because your blackmailer probably reads this forum and will realize that you're frightened, which only emboldens him to continue threatening you. It's pretty easy for him to ID you by the details that you post in conjunction with the date that you post them in relation to your transaction with him. Just use the search function here (quietly and without posting additional questions or details, publicly) to find the many threads where I've already provided comprehensive answers to any conceivable blackmail-related question that you could possibly have. There's no question that you could ask that hasn't already been answered in great detail at least several times in previous threads with "blackmail" in the topic title.

In this situation, you have a little leverage to get him to leave you alone. So before you block every means by which he tries to contact you, tell him if he contacts you even once more, you'll immediately provide his company with all of the evidence of his poaching your business from them. Then block him and don't even read -- let alone respond to -- any additional contact from him. The stupidest possible thing you could ever do would be to involve your school in any way (or withdraw), for the exact same reason that you wouldn't hit yourself in the head with a baseball bat in response to a threat from someone else to crack your skull with a bat if you don't cough up some money. Before your fingers hit the keyboard to ask your next question, re-read the 2nd paragraph of this post, instead.

While you did make a mistake by opting to deal with the writer directly outside of the company confines, that does not mean that he can blackmail you. As long as you did not provide identifiable information to him regarding your school, professor, and class, he will not be able to do anything to harm you academically. In fact, he could just be calling your bluff a this point and he doesn't have any intention of following through on his threat because he does not have the means to do so. Most blackmailers are in that sort of position so ignoring him would be the best option in this case. Send all of his emails to the spam folder. Do not show fear. That shifts the balance of power to the blackmailer.

For My Blackmailer

This is for my blackmailer who continues to harass me. I'm already under investigation with my school. Yet you continue to harass me about exposing me. I got nothing to lose now they are fully aware and I'm being held accountable for my actions.
I'm letting you know that I have a lot of evidence that will be handed over to Kenya authorities if you continue to harass me even though you've been blocked on everything. IP addresses, all different names you use including the apps you use to accept payment with your name. The writing company you work with will be notified. PayPal will also be contacted for soliciting others to assist with using others PayPal account. You will also be reported to all your social media accounts for using my personal pictures/information. I will make sure that all your information is posted on all websites as well. US authorities and Kenya Authorities will be notified.

I suggest you to leave me alone and move on to your next victim.

Also he's on the list of scammer/blackmailer on here already!!

@Logg236 It is extremely important that you name names here to protect the others who do not have the information that you do. Give his real name, his alias / username, how you made contact with him, what his modus is. If his name is already on the list here, please post the thread link in this one so that it will be easier for us to identify him. Only by publishing his facts will you be able to add a layer of protection for yourself during this trying time.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

Unfortunately, it's too late for the OP, but for anybody else dealing with this kind of situation in the future, post #4 is exactly what you should do immediately after the very first demand or threat.

The smartest protocol for anybody facing this situation in the future is as follows:

1. Respond to the very first threat of blackmail by explaining that Post #7 is exactly what you're going to post publicly if he contacts you again and/or contacts your school.
2. Block every means by which he contacts you.
3. If he finds another way to reach you and/or if you discover that he's contacted your school or publicized your name, post all his info right here as in Post #7.

While it would obviously be more beneficial to others for you to post his info here right off the bat, I understand that your first priority is to protect yourself; so retain whatever leverage you have by giving him a chance to leave you alone, first, instead of posting his info here right away, because once you do that, he has no further incentive to back off, but the additional incentive of pursuing revenge for your posting his info here.

I know this must be exhausting for you, but hopefully you'll figure it out since all the solutions are already shared here. Honestly, you should've avoided talking to that guy from the start-it's usually pretty easy to spot scammers right away.
