NEW MEMBERS: Use the search box before asking for information about a site!

WritersBeware
Sep 06, 2010 | #1
It seems that the vast majority of new members don't bother to use essayscam.org's search engine before asking a question (e.g., "Is it legit?") about a site. Stop being so lazy, impatient, impulsive, etc.! People like me have already spent significant time researching just about every site in the industry in order to HELP you. The least that you can do is respect their efforts by using the search box before creating a new, redundant thread asking questions that have already been answered.

I agree you do need to do your own research on companies to find the right one that suits.

Is there a good site for exchanging good writing services?

This is what is weird about all of this. WB posts things like this as if he is the judge, jury, and executioner of the forum...yet he gets banned. Long time coming it appears. Does anybody else find it hysterical to read back on old posts and then realize WB is banned for being a J-A?

Useless to talk about useless people (WB).

If these students weren't too lazy to do research, the independent writers would be out of jobs and the writing companies would be out of business. I have no problem with the students constantly asking for referrals to companies and writers. That is how the system works. If they are looking for a writer, simply talking to the writers who post in their thread will open the lines of communication and allow them to assess the writer for potential hiring. They can also assess companies based on the company representative claims, which can then be cross referenced with the threads in this forum. There are times when students asking questions does have its benefits. However, the mere fact that there is an EssayDirectory, Writers, Services, and the new EssayBrand sections which can help them find reliable services since those companies and writers are investigated and guaranteed to be on the level, should already make it easier for the students to find a writer or company, without having to use the search engine feature. Unless of course, they would want to use it.

I believe that the reason why students tend to simply ask the question again rather than doing research on this site via the search tool is because they want updated information for their question. I noticed that @Smiley73 tried to revive the old threads at this site by providing new information to the students. While most of the regulars here jumped on Smiley for being of service to the students, the fact that some sort of new, even if sometimes inaccurate information is presented to the student.

The students ask because they feel that the search box isn't providing them with the information that they need. They hope that someone, like @Smiley73 will come along and help them out. There has been a great amount of time between the postings that referred to a particular topic and the time that the student asks the same question in reference to today's academic climate. So the student cannot be faulted for not using the search tool of this forum. It's up to the student to confirm any information or declarations found on this site anyway.

When using the search option, it yields a lot of results but not always what the user is searching for. This is especially true for outdated posts. So, kudos to everyone who tries to keep information in the threads current/relevant to today's students.

There are just way too many pages at this forum for the student to go through, even after using the search engine. So it would be more time efficient for them to simply ask the question again. On the writer side, allowing the student to ask the same questions over and over again gives them a chance to actually find potential clients easily. The same cannot be said for using the search box. It is all about student visibility and writer advertising. They can reach out to one another more easily when a question is repeated as opposed to reading old threads that may not be relevant to their writing needs.

I disagree. If one just learns how to use the search function properly, it can save a lot of time, especially since what most new members want to know more than anything else is simply which writing services are legitimate and reliable and which ones are either outright scams or just unreliable and/or inconsistent. To use the search function here properly, you have to change the default "Topic Titles" to "Messages." If you don't do that, your results will exclude every mention of any writer or company that doesn't include that specific search term in the titles of existing threads. That would be the most efficient first step, because you can always start a new thread, if necessary, anytime your initial search for existing threads mentioning any writer (or any other searchable term) doesn't generate helpful results.

Students do not have the time nor inclination to learn how to do a proper search at this site. Unless the admin of the forum decides to create a "Search on this site for dummies" guide, also known as a how to page, I don't think we will get students who actually did the research necessary on the topic they want to discuss. Posting the same question in a paraphrased form would also have benefits for the company that owns this forum in the sense that it will allow the SEO to list those topics as new for this site, thus boosting site traffic based on sponsored pages.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

They wouldn't even need to do a "proper" search, as described in my earlier post (#22) in this thread; if they did nothing more than enter the word "blackmail" (for example) into the search field, they'd see no fewer than 40 threads. That would take them a lot less time than typing out even the shortest question, instead.
