well i am currently using my university internet, but what i would want to know is do they have people that monitor students on where they go,which websites they visit?I am going to order a paper through the university, but I dont want someone finding where i have gone and stuff, which could lead to a lot of problems.

Can they? Yes. Do they? Who knows. It really depends on the institution and the resources they have to grep the files.
If it is that big of an issue, go to a coffee house or what not.

James you could place your order via phone. Discuss everything and then email them. Ask them to email you a paypal link or something. If you have more questions feel free to ask.

It's too late for that. Most IT suites employ certified telepaths. They knew you were going to order an essay before you did!

James, cockle was joking. So was I.

Any site you visit on a university computer could be monitored by the university. There is no way of knowing if it actually will be, but it is certainly possible. At the same time, it is virtually IMpossible that they monitor every page every stduent on every computer in teh University visits. It would require an army of people, and would be ridiculous.

If you had to log onto the computer with a unique username and password, then they could (but won't necessarily) trace the page to you directly. If you're worried, don't do it--there's no need to take dumb risks when you almost certainly have a friend with a laptop or a nearby internet cafe--or a public library, or a phone....

The honest truth is: they could, but they probably don't.

Like Pheelyks says, they don't have time to monitor every site visited on a campus computer.

The only thing you really have to watch out for is the fingerprint detection system in the mouse, which they can use to verify who was using your account, but they'd need to get a sample of your fingerprints (with your permission) first, which I assume they haven't done? You should be fine, but like Pheelyks said, maybe use a library computer or something next time, just to be sure...

I am enjoying this thread :) :)

Well, on the monitoring note, I have worked in an environment where we monitored 750,000 users everyday for the access. It is mostly done through software and reported back to the operators. Educational institutions actually have less issue implementing software solutions because they have students to write them for free.

Just my 2 cents.

Always remember, just because you are paranoid does not mean that the are not out to get you.

The uni where I work part-time (lecturing, dontcha know?) DOES have the capability to monitor this kind of thing, but doesn't implement it because they're scared of getting sued for invading students' privacy.

That type of software (*he guessed, speaking dangerously out of turn as he knows absolutely nothing about computer programing) would still require updates about the type of site one was visiting, wouldn't it? That is, an essay site on a trusted server that hadn't yet been identified wouldn't get picked out and sent to the operators, right?

I fully admit my own idiocy when it comes to the software angle; thanks for the tip about the mouse, though. I knew something was up when they showed up at my dorm with an electronic scanner. They got my retinas, too...any chance they have invisible scanners in the screen that can tell the identity of everyone looking at it?

University Paper OrderLet me post my thoughts:

Two words:

Ball prints.

Three more words:

From your chair.

Summary:

NEVER use a university computer while naked.

Apparently scrotal prints, as they're known in professional circles, are between 30 and 50 times more unique than fingerprints. Like snowflakes.

Unless OP is a gender confused female (hence the male handle), he'll self-castrate after reading your post :(

That's the first time I've ever seen the term "scrotal prints" written out. When I heard it before, I thought they were saying "scrotal prince," and automatically assumed they were talking about me, because of my abnormally large scrotum. Are you saying I'm not royalty after all?

OK OxbridgeResearchers - no-one here will stop a paranoid person like you from doing it for sure.

Fact of university control is this: in the USA everyone accept that so many student cheat - always have cheat - paying poor intelligent student to do work of stupid and lazy rich white or sportstar black student is tradition! So they turning blind eye mostly. US standard is so low anyway. Many professor cant even write pass essay.

In UK, university will look at computer and email only of student only if they suspecting student and enquiry is started - for examples, if someone email university and tell them name of student who cheat, then they will access university computer and email and use all this plus bought essay as evidence - this sometimes happen to students who buy essays and submit as own work. Their friends tell on them and betray them - and then they are expel from university.

Asif-

1) Get a sense of humor

2) Learn what the f*** you're talking about

3) Learn how to use English properly before posting on a site for English essay writing as a voice of authority

I also like your assumption that the only black students at US universities who can afford to cheat are athletes. Though it is true that poverty in the US has a strong statistical link to ethnicity, your comment still smacks not only of a complete miscomprehension of the situation but outright racism.

Finally, I would like to go on the record as saying you're an idiot, and your scrotal prints came back negative--there was not enough of a ball sac to make a positive identification.

Fair's fair, he's clearly an idiot, but I think you're misrepresenting him a little there. And anyway, he's an idiot. Oh, wait, I already said that...

but I think you're misrepresenting him a little there

I disagree. Here's the direct quote I was replying to:

stupid and lazy rich white or sportstar black student

Thus, while white students can be rich and lazy, the black students that cheat are "sportstars." An odd place to insist on a little racial equality, but there are plenty of rich lazy black students whose parents can afford to buy their essays, just like the white students. There are also, of course, many industrious people of all races and economic backgrounds.

And yes, he is most definitely an idiot.

I would have to agree with Jack. If you don't have a home computer go to the library and use the public internet to order something such as an essay.

Yes, they do. The university server keeps tabs on the student logon ID. They know if you visited a porn site, or an academic writing site. VPN won't help in this case. You should use an off-campus computer or private data on your phone when you want to engage in any browsing that may create problems for you in the future due to misuse of university equipment. That includes the internet and the hardware related to it.

Schools don't actively monitor every institutional account like that; neither do most professional organizations. It's still not a great idea to use your university system to do anything you wouldn't want them to know about; because if they ever do have a specific reason to check into your system use (such as an accusation from a professor about turning in work that you didn't write), the information is all stored within the system and fully capable of being examined forensically.

Whether the internet usage of the student is monitored or not by the system administrators, it is in the best interest of the student to use a non-university related computer. The worry here should be if the writing company can somehow trace the student's academic connections when he logs into their client system. Ewing on the side of caution, accessing these sites from a freres-fi connection would serve his interests better. While not all companies use IP tracking systems without the permission of the student, there are those who do. These are the ones who have the intent of harming the student through blackmail. The more the student covers his digital tracks, the more protection he applies to himself. Do notuse the school system.
