That didn't work out so well for him.

Essay writers are like betta fish. Sure, we're beautiful, but we have to be kept in separate bowls or else it's constant conflict.

It's a very funny analogy, but human behavior is much more complex than fish behavior. Some of us can share this tank without any problem whatsoever, despite being direct competitors. We never attack or try to injure one another just because we're competitors. We even help one another out at times under the assumption that all of us benefit that way in the long run. If this tank were exclusively stocked with us, it would be an entirely symbiotic environment for all. The problem is that some of the fish here swim these waters looking to take a nasty bite out of anybody who isn't them because they think (or know) that the only way they can survive is by eliminating all competitors, particularly any competitors who are doing fairly well in these waters without resorting to predation. They seem to lash out the most against those of us who survive just fine peacefully chomping on marine vegetation instead of eating flesh.

I'd say the extension to marine life is a little off-base. fish are still involved, though. this is a place for ambulance-chasing paper-mill hacks like FW to harpoon them in a barrel. the only fish here are the idiot customers who come in looking for scam tips and see only the bright lights of slimy, bottom-feeding essay-peddlers.
