Can anyone tell me what site to check for plagiarism?
My uni uses turnitin but I am told that it takes a week to give me the report.
Is there any site processing quicker?

Thanks a lot

You could try not plagiarizing your essay. You should be okay then.

Try this site: articlechecker.com

To the Mods - If this post goes against the TOU, go ahead and delete it.

And one more thing, Chibi... Only select the "Google" option. If you select both "Google" and "Yahoo", it messes up the search.

This is basically a Google search that shows the results on their page instead of Google? Not sure if I really get it? Can you explain what makes this site any different than just searching Google?

Are you guys asking about ArticleChecker.com?

You're right about it being a Google search; however, instead of searching "words" individually, it searches "sentences and phrases". ArticleChecker.com also searches the literature found in Google books.

There are very straightforward guides about how to format quotations and citations available on the web. Frankly, if you format the citation wrong, it still isn't plagiarism as long as you credit the originator of all ideas/information that did not come from your own head. You might still lose points for improper formatting, but you can't be given an "F' or criminally charged for this type of error.

If you write your own papers and make sure you give credit every time you use someone else's ideas, you are not plagiarizing. There's nothing complicated about it--if it was your thought, it doesn't need a citation. if it's someone else's thoughts or words, it does need a citation. If it's a fact that is not common knowledge (and even often if it is), it needs a citation.

The best way not to be caught on plagiarism is to avoid copying others' work. Anyway, sometimes it is necessary to check your paper for some accidental duplication, so.. I use plag tracker, it's pretty good. Enjoy :)

You think group therapy is in order here?

Lavender - you've listed yourself as a writer. May I be so bold to ask whether you write for students, etc.? If not, what type of writer are you and what are you doing on this forum?

Pity - if WB had been here she'd have put you in your place, after tearing you from limb to limb for your inane advice.

Well, it isn't a website but rather a search engine. You can take any popular search engine (Google, Bing, DuckDuckGo) or just use your browser in this case. Take the middle sections of every paragraph written for you. Copy and paste it into the search box then hit return or enter. If the paper was posted anywhere else before, or, if the paper has too much cut and paste information in it, the search will definitely make those show up. Even just a single paragraph coming up as plagiarized should be taken as a red flag. Deal with the plagiarism , as proven by the search, accordingly.

Before even bothering with searching for specific-but-still-random portions of the project, just do a simple search using the most obvious search terms from the assigned topic. Much more often than you'd imagine, if your project was plagiarized, one of the first results of that search will lead you directly to the exact source from which your project was plagiarized, because that's about all the "research" bad writers bother doing.

You can always use an AI to check for plagiarism these days. It is the quickest and almost foolproof way of checking for plagiarism. Then again, AI is known to plagiarize itself when it develops a paper for you so using it to check for writing similarities could be a double edged sword. Using the common apps would probably still be the best way to go. In fact, you can check for possible writing similarities with published papers and articles if you are developing the content using MS Word. The editor feature has a similarities program that can definitely be a tremendous help in your writing and verified information presentation.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.
