It seems to me that you guys are missing something very basic here. These essay writing companies are selling essays and reports to students who should be doing the work themselves. The last I heard, that was called FRAUD. You guys who are writing for them are assisting fraud to take place. Is it any wonder that these companies are fraudulent when the business they are in is also fraudulent. Before anyone says that the idea is to assist the sudents with their work, not for them to copy it word for word, I would say "why do you think the companies insist on non-plagiarised pieces?" Its so the students can hand them in as they are.

Irf you lot want to write without getting ripped off, find a proper publishing house and get accepted by them.

When I was at university, the whole point of doing a report was to test that the student had learned the syllabus. If you copied someone else's work you got penalised and sometimes you were asked to leave.

Don't complain about fraudulent companies when you are helping them to commit fraud.

Well done, Writersbeware, you are quite right. But if you are so good at grammar and punctuation (and i am not saying that I am good) why are you still writing essays for silly students who can't do them on their own? You are still assisting fraud, no matter how many mistakes I made in my post. I think that is one up to me.

Before I go , I just wanted to say that WritersBeware's tactic of pointing out everyone's faults as a way of putting them down reminds me of something my kids used to do when they were in primary school (for you Americans, that is school for children younger than 11years old).

Thanks for the introduction. Yes I am new here, but I'm afraid the agression sort of rubbed off on me. For that I apologise. I am new to freelance writing but I am not new to writing. I am a technical writer working for a large engineering company. I decided that it was about time I try to write for myself rather than an employer so started looking on the net. I found the essay writing companies and applied to one before I realised what it was they did. As far as I am concerned it is seemed a scam. The companies were being paid by students to get essays done by freelancers. I decided it was not for me. I then found this forum and started having a look around on the various threads. I noticed that people were always complaining that they had been ripped off by the essay companies. I wondered why people were actually writing for them when the companies were ripping them off. I made a comment on a post and immediately got my head bitten off by WritersBeware. The rest is history.

I just want a place where I can learn the pitfalls of freelancing, find a reputable web company and meet some friends with similar interests. Instead, I get pulled apart, told I was crap, humilated etc etc. And by the way if anyone is going to tell me my sentence construction and grammar stinks on this post, well personally I don't care. If no one can be decent here, then I will go somewhere else.

Can I ask a few questions before I go elsewhere?
Is WritersBeware speaking for all the members when she speaks so rudely to new members? Is this site moderated?
Is the fact that no-one seems to speak up against the rude ***** because she has chased everyone away and has the forum all to herself except for newbies who wander in unawares now and again?

Right lets get some facts straight here please. I was highlighting that those people who had been ripped off by essay writing companies were ripped off because the companies were fraudulent. I then stated that those people who were writing for these fraudulent essay writing companies were assisting fraud to take place. It was therefore their own fault.

In my second post I implied that those persons who were stupid enough to write for fraudulent essay writing companies were not really that intelligent anyway. Is anyone going to dispute the fact that if you continue to write without being paid then you must be thick?

I did not mention names of people or names of companies. I was supplied those by You Know Who

I still maintain that students buy these essays so they can hand them in as their own. If anyone thinks that an impoverished student will part with good money for a ready written piece of coursework and then use it as a guideline, then either they are more naive than I ever thought possible, or it must have been a long time since they were at college (if they ever were, that is)

So after all the name calling and abuse thrown around here by a couple of members, I still maintain that my original points are more than valid and anyone who cares to be unbiased for how ever long it takes to read the post will agree with me.

This actually started off as a quite reasonable observation by a new member, but you, yes you, have blown it out of all proportion. It really makes me think that I have hit on a very sore point. To paraphrase you "Who cares?" if I am or am not a female. Well the answer there is me. I care and so does my wife and kids. The question you should be asking is "Who gives a damn if I can sleep at night when I verbally abuse everyone I speak to" Please tell me , have you got any friends in real life at all? There is nothing to say that men cannot say EEKS!. or do you expect men to say more macho comments like "Well F!*K Me" or "S?-t" or other gender specific swear words? Where the hell do you live because I can't remember the last time I heard a teenage girl say "Eeks!" in fact I can't remember anyone ever saying "Eeks!". I have only ever seen it used in comics like Beano or Dandy. But you probably don't know what those classics are being non-British. Quick! look on Google to find out and spout expertly about them. Then you can tell me who the famous characters were.

Anyway. Is this site any good for novice freelance writers? Or maybe you can recommend another one. That all I wanted to know anyway but unfortunately I got attacked before I could ask.
