Writing Careers / Anonymity for writers.. "Legitimate" academic writer career? [13]

Hi folks,

I'm really interested in doing this student researching job but want to protect my anonymity for the future of my "legitimate" academic career. Would you ever tell the site that you work through your name, the university you attended, or even your location?

I'm brand new to the game, so I'm trying to feel out how things are.
Oh, and just to be clear I don't have any qualms with the industry myself, but you must appreciate that academic institutions might be less understanding. (and YES I am crazy for thinking about pursuing an academic career!)

Thanks for the replies! Right...so if I want to embark on this I would have to put my name forward. Would your real name come up in a google search for instance? Maybe I'm making a big deal out of something which isn't an issue. I would LOVE to hear from anybody who is both freelance writing and pursuing an academic career!

Writing Careers / Ergonomics for professional academic writers [33]

Most def stretch out the hip flexors. Look up the yoga poses "dragon" and "warrior I" for this. Also there's a big danger of getting a hunched back on shoulders from crouching over the keyboard all day. You need to counteract that with a back-bend, like "sphinx". Sorry...I'm a bit of a yoga fanatic.

Writing Careers / Freelance writers - why don't you start a company and work on your own? [41]

Slow out of the gate working through company

So I've recently decided to embark on freelance academic writing work. After much research I found one company that seemed to be reputable and I'm working through them. So far, I've been bidding on projects but with NONE forthcoming. I suppose that I'll probably have to work for low wages until I build up a clientele. For a newb like myself, is there any tricks or tips to getting work?
