What Should Students Do in Their Free Time?

Students spend their free time in various ways depending on their exposures to the environment and their social inclinations and interactions in the society. This however could be in a positive or a negative manner. The activities the youths should indulge in should be beneficial to them in that they should be designed in a way that they challenge them to be responsible and shape them to face various challenges in life. In this essay I will be addressing the best ways in which the youths can be able to spend their free time in a way that benefit them as well as the society at large e.g. the involvement in co-curricular activities, learning activities, jobs etc.

Firstly students and young adults have a lot of free time and most of this can be used in the co-curricular activities in the schools or the society. Some of these activities could be sports, scouting, volunteering activities, gaming etc. these activities can be used to shape the behavior of the youths in a positive way. Since at this stage the youths are very active this time is usually a determining time for their future and thus these opportunities should be used to enable that they discover their talents in the activities other than education.

Secondly the free time could be used for academic and research purposes, this is the time when the aspects of innovation and creativity are generated. Youths can capitalize on this time too improve their academic exposures in may ways which may include; attending seminars, research projects, surveys, reading etc. this basically help them have a wider understanding of the practical aspects of education.

And finally the youth could also use their free time making money in jobs of revenue generating activities in the society. The use of their academic knowledge in these kinds of activities basically helps them generate new ideas and innovations in the areas in which they apply this knowledge.

The student's free time should be spent in a beneficial manner to one self or the society. The youths can do this by engaging in co-curricular activities, learning and academic activities, revenue generating activities etc and this will guarantee positive development and empowerment of the youth. The optimal engagement of the youths to these activities will reduce the negative influences associated with idleness and thus this will make them responsible members of the society and at the same time ensuring that they discover their talents and improve or perfect them.
