Academic Writing Assignments - Client Demographics

I'd be curious to hear other writers' experiences with their clients' demographics, such as estimate of male/female ratio, country of origin, education (high school, college grad), etc. I've noticed that a lot of the top writing sites tend to get substantially more traffic from women, and while I don't know the gender of all of my clients, a good majority of them are women. Coincidence or pattern?

My favorite demographic is parents who are helping their kids cheat. That is a rare beast, though.

Student DemographicsSorry to say but I don't think making generalizations based on the genders of the clients you've had is rational because you've also stated that you don't know for sure the genders of everyone of them.

I am assuming that since you're in this business, you know the value (and risks of) data handling. It would put a question mark to your knowledge of the gender-related data with the top writing companies.

That said, I would not really favor anyone who is of the opinion that more females than males use essay writing services. A great majority of my clients have been (and still are) males though females are no exception.

This is also significant to understand that, though industrialized countries flaunt their human rights legislature so proudly, reality is still bitter. Take, for instance, U.S. where female population is still the most vulnerable group: poverty, psychological issues, and many relevant areas are still very grave for them.

I am not saying it. Googling a few relevant keywords would definitely take you to a number of reliable references. Workplace differences between genders, i.e. pay parity, working hours, etc. still remain a challenge for the ENTIRE world, and women are still at the receiving end.

In the developing world, the situation is even worse (So, don't think I am sparing my country, lol).

Thus, your generalizations kind of sadden me, and I wish we all could take a position that is grounded in a broader view of the reality of our world.

It isn't possible to accurately gauge the client demographics of a writer whose independent work is directly tied in with the academic outsourcing company that he is attached with. These companies do not require their clients to share their gender and the clients don't share their gender unless it is a requirement for the paper that was ordered. As an independent writer who does have direct access to the gender of the clients as the writer deals directly with the person, it is difficult to compartmentalize the client demographics into genders. There aren't just 2 genders available as options these days so it would be politically incorrect to just divide the number of clients into 2. That totally disregards the LGBTQ community in its survey and as such, cannot be considered an accurate representation of client demographics. Oh how I long for those simpler times when this question could have easily been resolved and responded to by just filling 2 columns and then reporting on the final number count. No feelings hurt, no insults accidentally made. Here's some advice, don't try to figure out the number of your client demographics. It's next to impossible to do these days.

In the past, unless I got a gender specific assignment such as something along Gender Studies with a specific focus on women or the client clearly indicates that I must write in a female voice, using a female point of view, I cannot really tell who is the male or the female when assignments are given. I can only assess the year level demographic of my client because of the assigned work. I used to get several writing assignments from parents of high schoolers or college freshmen who needed help getting their kids started on the correct writing path. Again, no gender assigned so no client gender demographics could be taken. It is enough for me to know that I had regular clients during the year, regardless of the gender. After all, the gender doesn't matter, it's the payment for the ordered paper that matters the most.

I don't really pay attention to gender ratio among my clients. It doesn't make any sense nor does it serve any purpose in this line of work. I don't even keep track of official client names. To my writers and I, they are merely student client numbers. It helps to keep the writer's focused on the quality of the writing rather than the "voice" of the writer based on the gender of the client. Although, I can tell you that there are times when I get more orders for gender research or women's studies during a particular season. So perhaps. there are times when I have more female clients signed up than male clients. Like I said, I don't see the importance of the gender number in this line of work.

Demographics do not matter in this case. There is no reason for us to keep track of the gender of our clients because as academic writers, we should be able to write using the male or female voice. It is a requirement of this job to be able to think as both a man and a woman, depending on the client perspective as stated in the order form.
