notice the (-$80.50): that's how much I'm being fined. what you can't see from this snippet is, that this was originally a $50 paper, which I got a $17 bonus on. then, out of the blue, essaywriters.net told me that the paper was plagiarized, so the customer was refunded. I'm still not sure why the fine exceeds the original value of the paper by about thirty bucks.

Err.. I can tell you. >.< They fined you for plagiarism and for the entire worth of the paper. I have to agree with dearbats regarding the quotations being considered as plagiarism though. However, ew did most likely screw you up coz I sincerely doubt that they refunded the client since the client didn't complain (right?).

Initially they warn you and ask you to reduce the citations, after which they begin to fine you, I guess.

I don't think so. If the plagiarism detector got it, the fine was automatic. Happens to me when I work on editing orders if the client plagiarized the paper that I had to edit. However in these cases, I was always able to reason my way out of the fine (since fining me for the client's fault when all I was supposed to do was correct the client's Engrish is too unfair, even for them).

Haven't really had any such experience so far, since, RWC notifies writers and sets the order for revision in case plagiarism is detected. So does one other company I work for.

Many a times, like EW mentioned, editing orders can have instances of plagiarism. I really appreciate the policy of RWC according to which papers are thoroughly scanned and set for revision so that the writer can revise it if plagiarism has been detected.

That is a positive and humane approach which ensures that good writers stick around cos they consider themselves to be a part of the company.

Well, recommendations are strictly not allowed. All I can say is that it is a writing company with an excellent approach, humane and practical.

thanks.

Your welcome, I could sense you neeeded it real bad :)

Wish u Luck.

Explain.

Humane, cos the company treats its writers courteously and understands that writers are human, can make mistakes and should be given a fair chance. Writers are not treated like machines by imposing automated fines on them.

Practical, cos the company owners understand that it is in UNITY that they will flourish, which is why they have sensible policies in place, to attract and retain good writers. Payments are bang on time and fines (to my knowledge) are never imposed automatically.

the quality was unbeleivably low.

You are a real dreamer!

AR is a good site to work for. I have worked alot for them. They are quite professionals; very harsh with fines though.

Sometimes these fines are genuine, while pathetic sometimes

I think you are confused!

What was the point, Herpesout? This thread was more than two years old, and you've added absolutely nothing to the conversation--are you that desperate to see your name online?

I signed up to work for them but never actually wrote anything because I heard they were crooked. If you find even one honest company out there, then stick with them.

Well i am working with Academia for almost 2 years now. The staff is supportive. I do occasionally face payment delays and unnecessary fines but the important thing is 'Keep your head cool !'

That doesn't happen with a legitimate business, period. You work for a rip-off company, and now you're spamming the board for them.

Academia-Research is a strange employer in the sense that they treat their writers based on the ranking of the person in the company. General writers who have yet to prove themselves will pass through hoops with delayed payments, constant fines, and other tests. It is almost as if they are trying to see how much abuse the writer can take before quitting. If you don't quit and you rise through the ranks, then they start to treat you a bit better with lesser fines, scheduled payouts, and other "fair" treatment that keeps the writer on with them. That is not to say that they are a legitimate company. They are still running scams, but more on the part of their writers salaries than the client payments.

Academia Research currently have more writers than they do orders. The company started losing its ground as a premier academic writing service since the students began to discover the ease of service associated with directly hiring their writers. The likes of LinkedIn and similar companies have allowed students to get better cost deals and payment terms via these services. AR has struggled to fill their server these days even as they pivot towards copywriting for professional companies and blogs. While they still manage to do scheduled payouts, they now rely on brutal fining systems to meet the payroll. Do not work for them if you can avoid it. You will end up paying them via fines for the privilege of working for them.
