Where do I begin my new freelance writing career?

Like many of you, the pandemic has left me unemployed and desperate for cash, and I've recently been looking into the idea of writing essays and selling them online. I've got a decent stash of pre-written essays I could sell, but with the overwhelming prevalence of anti-plagarism websites like turn-it-in, I'm assuming that the only decent way to make money is to write original essays for individual clients. The only problem is, I'm not entirely sure where to advertise my skills or how to attract potential buyers. Any advice?

Seek another profession that is legal and ethical. There are so many out there where you can better spend your time and energy. Don't do anything now that you will regret later. Live life for yourself. Focus on your skills and advertise your talents in a proper manner.

Freelancing CareerExcuse me Sirrrrrr, but who the f*ck do you think you are? I literally just looked at your profile and you posted on another thread about how you had a negative experience as the CUSTOMER of an essay-writing website.

So you think it's ethical to buy someone else's essays instead of writing them yourself but you have an issue with other people trying to sell their essays during an economic recession? You think I should "find a more ethical career" when unemployment rates are currently skyrocketing in every developed nation on the planet??

You think that you're entitled to a grade that you payed for instead of earning yourself, and yet you somehow think you're better than the people who actually did the writing that YOU were too lazy to do. You literally disgust me.

I bet you're an entitled, lazy, spoiled little Mama's boy who's never had to work a real job in his life.

So yeah, thanks for the "Advice."

Woah, guys, chill. It might be a good idea for you two to take down your post.

Rachaelthewriter, I think that's going to be difficult to find with the pandemic still raging. I'm not sure how that would be possible given that 2020 was a horrible year for most people. You might have to do a lot of digging. You could probably consider contacting Freelance Writers and use that opportunity to build up as many connections as possible. Not sure if my advice is useful, but hopefully it helps in some way.

What the f*ck is your problem? I was just trying to offer you some advice, but you don't need to be so damn rude and cruel about it. If you don't like it, no need to be so rude about it. We can talk about it amicably. Calm down. No need to be so rude about it all. No need to take it the wrong way. You have a choice in how you want to react. Don't blame me for how you're feeling.

I didn't even buy essays online. I did make a 50% upfront payment for an order, but then tried to cancel not long after because I knew I could do all of my work myself. I never even needed to use the service and I even told them not to send me anything and instead go away, but they refused to refund me because they don't want to give me my money back. I never even submitted the work for a grade nor do I think I'm entitled to it either. Don't automatically assume that I am when I never said I was. You don't know what happened. YOU literally disgust me with all the false claims you're making about me. I bet you're a bully and a scum who only hears what they want to hear and when you don't get what you want, you throw a tantrum and talk **** about other people.

Either much for the person calling me an "entitled, lazy, spoiled little Mama's boy who's never had to work a real job in his life" when you're the one who started bullying me in the first place.

You may want to try applying at writing companies first. The work experiences you gain there are the training wheels that you will need to help you decide on 2 things:

1. If academic writing is something you would want to do full-time;

2. If you will have enough skills and ability to build your own client base to launch an independent writing career.

Advertising your services won't be a problem since you can easily advertise at this forum and other places that independent writers frequent.

There are many freelancing sites that you can start on as a writer such as Freelancer, Upwork, Fiverr, PeoplePerHour, etc.
You can also approach digital agencies, if you have the potential to write will they might also consider you.

Starting a new career of any sort can be nerve wracking for anyone. It requires one to swallow his pride and ask for jobs (sometimes providing the work for free) just to prove himself. Do not go to that extent though. Instead, work the job market for potential opportunities. Never forget to mention you are a writer when in the presence of others. Do not focus on just academic papers. Say you are a generalized writer that way you open yourself up to more opportunities in the creative writing, advertising, and ghost writing field as well. Networking is key in this instance. Make sure to network at book readings, online chat groups and forums, among others. Remember your digital calling card. Once scanned it should list your work description as well. You never know when one digital card exchange can bring you a work opportunity.
