Writing CenterI know some of you work for FWC, because it was recommended to me by a forum member. so, heads up-- if you don't know already... buried among calls for technical expertise and last-minute papers in their info section, you'll find, on August 11th, the news that FWC is planning to start fining its writers. ??

Who gets the drift? who likes it? if you work for FWC, please protest this greedy, demoralizing, irrational policy shift. contact admin and tell them that you are concerned that a company you liked and trusted has taken this disturbing about-face.

Tell them what you think about their new policy of stealing from their writers over minor formatting mistakes. Is it acceptable to work under such unfair conditions just because you are not their employee but a contractor?

I will, too. if we all make our concerns known, even from the bottom of the pyramid, we can maybe make them pay attention.

yes, it's true. FWC is claiming to fine on a case-by-case basis, rather than as a blanket policy, as if this excuses their fining writers without also offering attendant financial rewards.

i am always looking for a good website to get help

this is unclear to me. could you tell me in another way?

i used to write for them, they do not pay and in addition, they fine you for the orders, which you do not take. I recommend not to apply there, for both writers and customers. It is far better to avoid using this fake site.

These writing companies can't function without writers yet it is the writer who suffer all the time.

A good number of the freelance writing companies with a pre-determined fining policy do it cover their a****. Avoid them at all costs!

Actually FWC certainly pays. But I have had a problem with them regarding the word count. Can any other writer working for them let me know if 282 words per page is against their rules? I generally write anything until 300 per page, but in this case I just uploaded the paper with 282, and this was apparently a big mistake.

okay, necro, "they pay" used to be my bottom line, too, but I've learned a lesson-- be very careful of companies that line their pockets through arbitrary fines. the tendency, once they start doing this, is to over-do it. you're always on thin ice; do you really want to work this way?

this was a nice thread; it reminds me of the purpose of this site.

editor75 kind of reminds me of a monkey sitting on branch throwing his own crap down at people. Kind of endearing, though.

I meant that post for the other thread, where I was called a poacher. Oh well. It applies anywhere, I guess.

please protest this greedy, demoralizing, irrational policy shift.

Sometimes the company does not have any choice. The writers on staff start slacking off, causing chargeback problems for the company so adjustments to the way the writers are treated have to be made. Fines and other penalties are sometimes the only way to make sure the writers keep caring about the quality of their work. Without the threat of penalties, the writers would just do what they wanted, leaving the company holding the bag for bad service they had nothing to do with.

Companies that fine their writers these days find themselves with an ever shrinking writers pool. The writers now have other work options and do not hesitate to stop working for the company anymore. What with the emergence of direct hiring forums and websites, writers have all but eliminated the middleman at this point. Companies that still have a fining policy find themselves adjusting to the new workplace and have either reduced the fining policies or done away with it altogether. They need the writers more than the writers need them at this point.
