Help me find a reputable writing company to work for (Eastern European company treats her bad)

Hello everyone.

Reputable Writing ServiceI've found this forum using google, I would be glad If someone could be of help... especially freelance writers who have experience dealing with both good and bad writing agencies out there...

My girlfriend works as a writer / content editor for a company; she's an ESL writer and lives in a 3rd world country.

She works very, very hard at every single paper she takes, however, the eastern euro company (yes, you have guessed their country name!) she works for treats her like total garbage. She doesn't deserve it.

They delay pay, they make her re-write papers for free at client's request (even when it is clearly the client's fault for not providing enough details), they constantly push her around and often call her cell phone at night, just to find out about the progress... they don't respect her as a person and a writer.

The only reason she still works for them is because she doesn't know any other companies, and this one pays, even though with constant delays.

Her command of English is certainly above average, I did some research using this forum, and found out that an average rate for an ESL writer may be $10-15 a page, well, she's not getting anywhere near that working for that company. It may take her a LOT of time before she earns decent living with them and successfully hops through all the loops and penalties imposed upon her.

If someone could PLEASE name a company or two which pay fair and do not treat their contacted employees like crap and slaves, I would be more than grateful.

Thank you in advance!

How much does she make per page (does a page = 250 | 275 | 300 words?).

I worked for essay writing companies for years before setting up my own website and going forward as a freelancer. Eventually, your bank of clients will build up and you'll no longer need to be paid pennies per page. Many clients also prefer the personal approach involved with hiring a freelance academic writer as opposed to one from a company with whom they will likely never communicate directly.

no longer need to be paid pennies per page

If that's the case, you obviously weren't working for legit, American companies.

Many clients also prefer the personal approach involved with hiring a freelance academic writer.

That is self-serving, propagandistic nonsense. Should I post the many reasons why a legit, American company is a better option than a freelancer?

American companies

Why all the references to American companies? I'm a British writer and prefer to keep my work within the UK.

pennies

And this was clearly somewhat of an exaggeration.

This is an American site that deals with the American essay industry.

And this was clearly somewhat of an exaggeration.

I know precisely what it was/is.

This has been my experience as well.

I have found some model writing companies which pay the same rate per 1000 words as I charge independently, but it makes me feel a little sick to think about what they must be charging students if they can pay such high rates while still managing to retain what is presumably a considerable cut.

She isnt getting paid well since she is average,, with writing you have to be excellent, this way you become valued. I pay my writers even $10 a page as they are very good in their work. I passed all my writing assignments through their help

@braine diaz who are you to decide that the aforementioned writer is merely average? Have you hired the poor woman to do work for you? From the looks of it, she is getting paid the same slave labor wages that the Eastern hemisphere academic outsourcing companies pay their 3rd world writers. It is sad that she is being treated that way and her situation will not improve, regardless of how hard she works. She will just keep getting abused unless she finds a way out of the vicious cycle. The only way she can do that is to strike out on her own as an independent writer. Working for a writing company will always come with the same problems. That is why most writers take charge of their writing career by moving into the independent writing field. It is difficult, but it beats being the whipping boy for these less than legitimate companies.

I am also confused as to what you really are @braine diaz. Are you a student or a company owner? You say you pay your "writers" $10 per page. Do you deal with the writers directly? Hire the writer through a company? Or are you an academic writing company owner who hires writers? When you make claims, you should at least be able to properly explain yourself or your intentions for making such statements.

Just like in any profession, when one feels that his or her talents are not being properly appreciated through a financial representation, there is only one thing a worker can do, strike out on your own. But first the person has to bide his / her time at the company, saving up to make sure that he/she has enough savings in the bank to quit the job and still be able to pay for bills and food. The person also needs to be patient when it comes to building up the new client base, if he/she isn't allowed to take his client list once the employment is terminated. Becoming an independent writer will not happen overnight, but with patient and perseverance, it beats working for a slave driver who pays sweat labor wages to the writers. It's extremely difficult to find a company that pays higher costs per page these days due to the expense of keeping the company running. The best way to earn then becomes working for oneself.

they make her re-write papers for free at client's request (even when it is clearly the client's fault for not providing enough details)

Sadly, the majority of non-US writing companies do this these days. In my early writing days, I worked for 2 non-US companies and my time with them was short. I won't work for pennies, and I won't be mistreated. I am fair in all my dealings and if I make a mistake, I own up to it and make it right. But, if a client errs when providing instructions and later wants me to amend a project, I charge for my time. The same is true for feedback a client receives. However, these "companies" promise unlimited revisions and the writers suffer.

The problem is that we are hearing only one side of the story. We cannot really judge whether this writer is good or not because we are not familiar with her writing style. We should not automatically take her partner's word for it when it comes to the reality of her situation. How much of is reality and how much of it is exaggerated to make the woman look better at her job than she actually is? It is important to take testaments such as these with a grain of salt. The writer is from the third world so I would not really put too much stake into the claims made by the OP. Rather, I would wonder why she would want to jump companies, without considering going into the writing field independently, which is what these ESL writers seem to always prefer to do.

Well, if you are looking to be hired as an academic writer in this business age, then you will not find a company willing to hire you anymoire. Not in the academic writing realm at least. However, if you are a legitimate writer, with proper English writing skills and can produce content that is usable in the legitimate business world, then you can try to apply at companies that are listed at Intch and Linkedin. There are companies that still require writers for social media content so you might get lucky and be hired by a legitimate company or contractor there.

Commercial copywriters and social-media-content writers are even more vulnerable to losing their jobs to AI than academic writers, which is why so many of them have already been laid off or found their positions eliminated, entirely. That type of writing is well within the capabilities of current AI writing programs, because it doesn't require accurate, objective, analytical thought; it requires little more than familiarity with current affairs and social media and the ability to mimic a human voice. Good academic essays still require human writers, because just making stuff up, regurgitating existing content, and generating marketing spin and unsuported opinions just doesn't work for academic writing.
