As everyone is aware, I joined this forum with the exclusive aim of helping students make rational and safe choices when selecting a writer/writing company.

Consequently, I have conducted some research that was concerned with identifying factors(other than qualifications) that influence the competency of an academic writer.

My research findings indicate that students should also enquire about certain personal characteristics of a writer as it was found out that these characteristics influence the competency of a writer.

Before students order an essay from a writer, they should enquire about the issues discussed below and make a rational choice.

Writer CharacterHere are my findings:

a) Relationships: A writer who have had a string of failed/unhappy relationships is, on average, very poor in academic writing and prone to emotional outbursts(like pheelyks for example) and students should avoid such writers.

b) Alcohol/partying: A writer given in to endless alcohol binges and partying is obviously a very unreliable professional and should be avoided.

c) Physique: Students should avoid writers that are overweight, not good looking, and not fit. Students should therefore demand a recent photo from potential writers before hiring them.

d) Beliefs: Atheists are better writers than believers.

e) Political leanings: Open minded liberals are good in social studies/ business management/ philosophy studies while conservatives excel in technical fields. A student must demand that a writer declare his/her political beliefs before getting hired.

f) Gender: women writers are more honest about their qualifications and competency than male writers. Women academic writers tend, on average, to produce better research papers than men. A writer must declare his/her gender before getting hired.

g) Hobbies: Hobbies are good indicators of a writer's competence. Students must avoid writers with peculiar hobbies like moon gazing since the implication is that such writers will spend their nights watching the moon and stars instead of writing.

h) Mode of dressing: academic writers who dress in a conservative manner are better than writers with more extravagant dressing style. I saw pheelyks photos and the dude is as extravagant in dressing as anyone can be. Before a student hires a writer, it is good to ask about their dressing style.

i) Role models: One's role models is very indicative of the character of that person. Students must avoid writers with role models such as Lance Armstrong (plagiarism) or George W Bush(incompetence).

j) Month they were born: writers born in the months of February, May, August and November are generally good writers.

Pheelyks did my essay, and while the quality was fine, he wrote the whole thing wearing oddly-patterned clogs. I had to rework the entire assignment myself.

Uh huh. It definitely wasn't to display your psychotic ******** by making up random s-i* about competitors in an industry you're scrabbling to stay a part of.

My research findings

What research? How was it conducted? Who were the subjects? What was the sample size?

At least you're not even trying to sound believable anymore. That makes you somewhat more amusing.

Who wears shoes?

the empirical connection between sexual prowess and writing abilities

This applies to many endeavors. In most Western societies, men become men by demonstrating their sexual prowess which frequently translates into professional success, especially in sports (particularly football and boxing) and entertainment (Longmire & Merrill, Untying the Tongue: Gender, Power, and the Word, Westport, CT: Greenword Press, 1998), but also to modern definitions of middle-class masculinity (Peter N. Stearns, Be a Man! Males in Modern Society, New York: Holmes & Meier). I can't box or play football, but I can still make my wife laugh after 27 years so I guess that makes me an entertainer.

The writer is not applying for a job with the CIA for crying out loud! Why all the investigations? He is just going to complete an academic essay, he is not going to be president of a country. He is just helping a student with his homework. This background check is totally unnecessary and a violation of the writer's right to privacy. No student, ever, did that much vetting of a potential writer, both from a company or as a freelancer.

These information are quite personal and should only be known to close family members and friends. Clients will probably be too sheepish to make such inquiries and willis would not appreciate the third degree. Students should instead be testing the writers knowledge in relation to the topic more than anything else. It is his knowledge and expertise in the field that matters the most. His personal background has nothing to do with the job. Focus on information that actually relates to the proper completion of the work at hand. These suggestions sound more applicable to a dating site profile than academic writing.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.
