I want to work as a Freelance Writer, can anyone give me names of reliable websites?

I have over 2 years of experience as a writer but i worked under a contractor who has stopped working, I now want to join any reputed firm but i don't know of any names.

Can anyone provide me a list of names of websites where i can apply for freelance academic writing position? I realize I'm not the best writer out there, but I believe my education and English knowledge are more than enough to help college students at all study levels.

Here is a sample cover letter I'm going to send to selected services that may hire a freelance writer like me - I hope it is good and professional enough to land me a good position :)

Writer for Hire at WorkDear Hiring Manager:

I am submitting my background for your review and consideration.

I am an academic writer, proofreader and copyeditor. I have nearly ten years of proofreading, editing, writing, and proofreading experience. My experience includes academic research papers (undergraduate and graduate), case studies, web content/blogs, technical manuals, news articles, press releases, personal/professional bios, and education technology research.

I have over seven years of public relations experience, developing, writing, and editing publicity newsletters/press releases, press marketing materials, and bios.

My skill sets include, but are not limited to, Windows/MAC platforms, MS Office Suite, Dictaphone transcription, typing speed of 80+, Lotus Notes, and QuickBooks. I have experience with desktop publishing programs for electronic and print publishing, and very capable of learning, adhering, and adapting to in-house editing and desktop publishing software.

I look forward to discussing my background with you further.

Regards,

Hopeful Editor and Freelance Writer for Your Company

Since recommending companies is not allowed on this forum (and not really necessary as well), just a quick look around here can give you quite a few names to start with.

I am wondering why your contractor just stopped doing business in the essay writing industry. Any thoughts?

For the same reason that will you stop offering your 'services' soon: incompetence
MeoCon, until you renounce your bootlicking extolments and acknowledge that you've all along been gaga about endorsing WB's ejaculations in your pathetic bid to win its approval, i'll always be on your case, in the process cutting off the last straw that you cling on(just as i did it so acutely to that boy called pheelyks).

By the time i am done with you, you'll never go anywhere near academic writing.

Before you argue in vain with me, you should go through an intervention to get your mind rid of dark sexual imagery. If, for one reason or another, you cannot do so, a self-help gestalt therapy book could be worth-reading.

I got no wish to argue with you; you're way below my level. On the contrary, i get thrills exposing you for the little Uncle Tom that you're. It's long since i came across a soul so obsessed with the desire for approval that it's pitiable sense of esteem is drowning by it's own sycophantic rattles.

i guess even in a queasy poky, you'd relish 'dropping the soap' ceaselessly in your nauseating bid to, you know, stand alongside the gang even though you wouldn't have the potency to brush off a wussy soliciting your posterior favors.

Recall your 'Meokhan's endorsements' and the merciless lashes therein?

Guys, please don't fight. I am in a desperate situation here and i really need to get my financial situation in a better position for the sake of my family.

Any help in this regard would be grateful, i tried Uvocorp but failed there. It seems that other websites are attached with Uvocorp where they are saying that you "already applied". I am really confused now and want to do earning but can't find any source.

Also if possible, can anyone tell me about any good writing site (if not academic writing site) where i can make good money? As i said i am in a really bad financial situation and my family is reliant upon me so i would appreciate if you guys stop fighting and provide me some genuine information. If you can't do it on this forum then please email me your answer.

I would really appreciate your concerns.

Take care

@TenaciousMe I know its been years since you posted this topic and the situation may have already been resolved for you. I am just wondering how you resolved it and if you can offer any of the other newcomers to the independent writing field any advice as to how to find an employer online. I know for a fact that these writing companies have at least 12 different company names under their umbrella organization, so I am wondering how you fared in that aspect. Were you able to find a company that you had not applied to yet? Or did the umbrella organization thing pose a problem for you? Perhaps you became an independent writer who sought clients outside of the academic writing companies instead? Do update us regarding your employment position as of today. I believe it will be of tremendous help to the others who find themselves in a similar position as of today. I sincerely hope that you found a company that was willing to take a risk on you as a writer. If you can, please let us know how it went for you.

the situation may have already been resolved

After 3 years, the "situation" is clearly dead and stinkin', but your question is timely and relevant. For what it's worth, I'll give you the same advice I gave another writer a few years ago who has gone on to success (he didn't need this advice, because he's a straight-up guy but I'll share it anyway):

1. Be honest.
2. Try to be on time (**** happens).
3. Be fair.
4. Recognize your limitations (a hard task with our strong sense of self-efficacy) and be willing to admit when you can't do something.
5. Provide clients with more than they expect. Think about what you're writing and really try to address the assignment guidelines.*
6. See no. 1 above.

IMHO, even mediocre writers can prosper in this industry if they follow these principles and recognize that it takes time. Good luck.

i believe that writing websites are on their way out of this business. The writing companies were far too affected by the sudden school shutdown and pandemic to actually stay in business. The educational world has changed so suddenly that the academic writers were caught unprepared. It is not easy to try and stay afloat in an industry that has effectively been shut down by the blended learning process. Home schooling is the bane of an academic writer's existence and right now, that is what the writers have to contend with. Working for an academic writing company isn't the way to go these days. Work for yourself as a freelancer and more importantly, steer yourself into another writing venue because academic writing will need a tremendous amount of recovery time before the writers can start moving within the academic writing field again.

Do you have any sort of proof or evidence of these assertions?

The writing websites have been severely affected by the AI bots that the students prefer to now use over a human writer. It is no longer possible for writers to apply at academic writing companies because of the current freeze hiring in effect at all the writing websites. You could try to start an independent writing career but it would not be easy to penetrate that saturated market either. There are too many writers and not enough clients hiring humans these days.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

I have nearly ten years of proofreading, editing, writing, and proofreading experience.

Apparently, it takes some people at least 11 years before they learn to recognize and correct even the most obvious redundancy in a very simple sentence.
