My.WritersDepartment.com = The suck pay

I've been writing academic papers for a year or two. I do mostly on my own, but did sign up with My.WritersDepartment.com. The pay sucked, but they had tons of orders that I could pound out quickly when I needed money and my own orders were slow. I worked with them for about 6 months without any issue.

I had a couple of hundred dollars ready for payout; I requested my payment and it never came. I contacted them, they said it was a mistake and would be processed right away. 24 hours later, there still wasn't any payment, so I contacted them again. They told me that the previous conversation I had had with customer service never happened and that I was making it up. They then said they don't want to work with writers with questionable integrity. Of course, I still haven't gotten the money owed to me.

Lucky for me, I wasn't relying on this money to pay bills, but still--I earned that cash. Stay far, far away--these guys are crooks. I should have known better.

Any bead on where they operate out of? What did they sound like? The MO looks like some folks I used to work for out of Kiev.

You are correct.

My.WritersDepartment.com is associated with the criminals from Ukraine. Here's proof:

Of course, I have plenty of additional evidence that I will save for a rainy day.

This is sad to learn. Over the Internet, I wonder, how easy it is to get away with serious fraud/misrepresentation. How many people have been/are being affected on a daily basis is just anybody's guess.

If we could only speak to some of your poor victims, we'd at least have a fraction of the sum total. Alas, we only have your BS, indignant befuddlement.

By the Grace of Almighty, I have not scammed anyone in my whole life, let alone the writing services domain.

Sounds to me like you were the victim of a employ by night firm. They pretend to employ writers, get them to work overtime, then with hold the pay with the promise of "payment at a later date" due to several "payment channel issues". They did not use that line on you because they could tell that you are familiar with the writing business and you would not take their crap for anything. Which is why they decided to simply accuse you of dishonesty, knowing very well it would be difficult for you to collect since you do not even have a freelance agreement with them.

This company seems to be in some sort of financial trouble. The main url redirects to a Not Hiring page. Which tells me that the company is about to go under. They are not hiring for a reason. Perhaps it is because they are not receiving enough orders to warrant new hires or, they are planning to shut down the company because they cannot bring in clients or, they end up refunding so much of their accepted orders that they have spent their capital already. Where there is no revolving capital, they cannot be an active business. Consider yourself lucky to not have been hired by this company. It sounds like they were scamming the students and the writers simultaneously.

Generally, companies that deliver good work also treat their writers well, and the converse is equally true. That's because good writers don't continue writing for companies that treat them badly, which means there's always a very high turnover rate and that most of their writers are untested novices and/or bad writers who can't get hired by a decent company. Prospective customers should avoid companies with legitimate complaints from writers, just as they should (obviously) avoid companies with legitimate complaints from disappointed customers.
