I want to warn students (especially graduate ones) about this company dissertation advice. They claim to be a uk based company and all writers are from and based in the uk. This is not true, the company is actually based in pakistan and the material they provide is the most ridiculous work you will ever read. They profess to offer dissertation advice and an editing and formatting service as well as custom essays for those lazier students. I asked them to edit my masters dissertation that i had worked all summer on, they failed on several occasions to send me the paper as i asked to receive it in intervals and when they sent me what they had done, it was laughable, they changed correct english grammar to american grammar, they re arranged the structure so my whole paper did not make sense at all.

Please i urge students do not use them, i have reported them for fraud to the british trading standards. If your like me and you have worked so hard all summer on a piece of work and want it edited i advise you ask a tutor at your university.

Dissertation AdviserI just looked this company up as I hadn't heard from them. The web address is:

dissertation-advice.co.uk

They have a Bradford telephone number but I couldn't find a registered address on the site. I would recommend that people never deal with any company that doesn't clearly state that it is a registered company and doesn't clearly state what its street address is (ie the address at which the company is registered). That said, there are a couple of essay companies in the UK that do say they are registered and give a street address and are still scammers!

Helena, how did you pay for your order? If it was with a UK issued credit card you may be able to get a refund as there is consumer protection for purchases made over the internet that are not what you paid for. You should contact your credit card company and tell them that what was provided is not as described on the website. The credit card company - if they agree - will then chargeback your account.

If the chargeback is reversed - which can happen - then you need to tell the credit card company that you are making a claim for reimbursement against the card company under The Consumer Credit Act 1974 and the European E-commerce Directive 2002. The card company has to reimburse you and it's then up to the card company to pursue the offending essay company to get the money back.

Hope this helps!

Ben

Could you say who the uk-based companies are that give addresses? I've come across on called 'the essay agency' which gives its address in Bristol but it is not registered with uk's Companies house so I don't know if its legit.

whatever you do, do not go for dissertationdom.co.uk - They are scammers. they delivered me an 80% plagiarism dissertation full of crab. Then they agreed to refund me 40% which to me was better than nothing, and although 3 months have passed by they still not have refunded me the money, with weekly excuses that the money will be in my account within the next 5 working days

never deal with any company that doesn't clearly state that it is a registered company and doesn't clearly state what its street address is

That doesn't mean anything. They can purchase an address that will send the client to the middle of the everglades. All company addresses are for sale online. It may be in an actual location, but with a non existent office floor or room number, or in the middle of a softball field. You cannot rely on a published street address. They can also claim to be a registered business and even have the papers to prove it. Only for the client to discover that those papers and claims were faked as well.

It is perhaps due to this particular posting that the company has gone out of business. It is no longer associated with the hostname. A check of the url returns a name not resolved message indicating that the company data has been deleted from the host server and, the domain name has been allowed to lapse. It has not been reassigned to another company since that time. It is safe to say that this post contributed to the eye opening information that students used to assess the invalidity of the company services, among other claims. It is always the lack of clients and the mounting legal problems that lead to the company being taken offline. Since the OP took proper steps to report the company, the owners most likely decided to cut their losses and just dissolve the company.

I'm sure they immediately created another identical business under a new name. That's why it's so difficult for students who are unfamiliar with the nature of this industry to find legit providers: as soon as a company gets shut down or revealed as a scam, the owners just create another one.

As legitimate members of this community, we can only hope that the new company that is set up changes for the better. Some of them actually take note of the problems of the previous company and work towards improving their services and client interaction. Not all of them are scams. Some of the company owners just don't have any idea of how to run an academic writing company. They learn from experience. Others prove to be nothing but criminals. They are the ones that just change the company name, but do nothing to improve their business skills and client engagement processes. For the students, the experience counts towards their trial and error considerations as the continue to hire other companies or independent writers.

There's 0.0% chance that the company described will "change" or "learn from experience." The details in Post #4 above make that very obvious. Any legitimate (or legitimately-intentioned) company would have, at the very least, immediately issued a full refund to retain customer goodwill, if, let's imagine, it were merely a matter of one bad writer having slipped through the cracks in their hiring process. Instead, they exhibited all of the typical scam-company responses to that customer's complaint, such as offering only a 40% refund for an 80% plagiarized, 100% useless piece of work, and then failing to actually issue even that inadequate refund as promised several months later after numerous promises about issuing it within "5 days." That's not a company that's ever going to be "changing" or "learning" anything, except, possibly, how to re-open another total scam company under a new name faster than last time.

We just cannot tell in these instances. The companies regularly change ownership throughout the year and could end up with an woner who is actually focused on client assistance. With changes happening anywhere between 3-4 times in a year, there is always a chance that clean owner can be found and change the path the company is on. I always want to believe that there is some good available in this line of business because I have witnessed some of these "miraculous" changes happening in some companies. These were companies that had negative images to begin with, but ended up going straight after some time. The company name was changed, along with the url. The client database was retained though and amends were made when these students placed orders with the new company. Little did they know about the rectifications being made, just that they were qualified for "discounts" as "new clients". Try not to be so negative. Everyone has the chance and opportunity to change if they wish to. I would give anybody that chance, regardless of the situation and what they are percieved to be. The pandemic changed the mindset of most of these companies. Believe me, some of the scammers eyes have been opened and they know that they need to play the game properly or they will not survive the changing game.
