Scammed by another writer

It was absolutely my own fault for being so foolish, but I was scammed recently by another writer who passed on some work to me. I took no form of prior payment, and onceI sent the work I never heard from him again. His name is Joel Kennedy and his e-mail address is billionaireken@gmail. Do not trust this guy. I thought about posting the essay online, but the only person who would suffer would be the student who commissioned the work, so that's not fair. Sigh.

If you don't know the person, or if the person hasn't been recommended by someone you trust, ALWAYS ask for payment upfront. I get offered these "deals" regularly. On principle, a scammer will offer any amount, as long as they can pay after the fact. Once I inform the "writer" I want the full payment upfront, they dissapear in the wind.

No way! An anonymous email account used to engage in fraudulent acts? Gee, that never happens.

Yah yah yah, I get it. I feel like a fool. I've learned my lesson. I'm usually far more savvy, but generally I'm quite good at spotting a bull****er. Clearly not on this occasion. However, in my dealings with other writers passing on work and with essay companies, I'm yet to encounter one willing to pay upfront. Of course, this would be ideal, but the potential for them to be fleeced is also there, so I can see where the reluctance lies.

Is there no way these fraudsters can be reported to authorities?

These fly by night blackmailers are difficult to keep track of. That makes them more difficult to report to authorities. If you hired them off the web, then not having a physical location for them or their office makes things even worse. This is what these criminals rely on, the anonymity that the internet provides. While you can try to report them to authorities, I would have to ask, where would you start? With the freemail address? With an url that pings all over the world? With a fictitious name? Can you now see why it is more difficult to report these scammers to authorities? You need to know how to protect yourself from these types of people to avoid getting entangled in their scams. That is easier and safer than trying to report them to the authorities.

There was a time when writing companies did try to con their writers out of their hard earned income. Either they delayed the salary release or, they played games with the payment account of the writer. They usually did this with the newbies at their companies who were not yet aware of this game the companies played. UvoCorp was once one of the biggest con companies when it came to paying their writers. They did everything they could to get free labor. That is why I am amazed that this company still exists as a writing company today.
