Anyone have any experiences with Brainmass? I'm confused what kind of services they offer? It's something related to writing but also editing and homework? It got too complicated and I don't even know if the site can be trusted.

I write for Brainmass sometimes. It is a bit different than other services; our focus is on tutoring THE QUESTION, not professional writing. The custom question is posted in a forum based on the amount you are willing to pay for it. Then writers bid on taking that question by the number of credits you give. For instance, 1 credit = the writer gets a bit over $2; so you can imagine now, if we are talking about professional and educated writers, that a 1-2 credit question would need to be answered top of mind without a lot of background research. Hope that helps!

Hi,

I dont exactly understand how this system works. I think they say on the site that the expert gets 70% of every credit. Is this true? If so, why just 2$? Also it sounds like every page of question reviewed costs 5$ which obviously is an unfair system which needs to be shred. It rather should be 5$ per page of the solution, not of the question. Also, both the student bids as well as the expert does. If this is the case, my 3rd question is, will it be lucrative to apply for brainmass? Their system seems to be a bit misleading. Please help me on the above 3 questions. Thanks in advance.

Isn't the system too complicated? It seems you a student cannot specify a deadline and the services provided cover too many subjects to be of high-quality. And a student pays using "credits." Even the "custom help" focuses on answering questions, not detailed-oriented research. To me it's more like Stackoverflow or Yahoo answers service than a real custom essay writing / research service

our focus is on tutoring

Based on the price the tutor gets, I sincerely doubt the lesson or solutions are provided by properly trained educators from any country in the world. I would not trust any tutor from this company.

1 credit = the writer gets a bit over $2;

That's what I mean. Slave labor wages to teach a proper response to a question. Nope. Absolutely not a properly trained teacher on the other end. No licensed educator would work for such a pittance. Only a 3rd world partially educated person might take up that kind of work.

The company seems to have improved its website presentation. The services offered are much clearer to the student now as they divided the services into sections with clear explanations as to how the services work. What I consider most important here is that the company is not hawking writing services. They are offering academic help via online tutoring and consultation. That is something that I can trust a company to do well since the person assisting would have to really be knowledgable about the topic that the student is paying the consultant to assist him with. the student does his own writing, under proper information guidance. I would give this company a test with a moderately complicated assignment just to test them out. The kind of assignment I could complete myself, without help, but will use help this time just to see if I can actually use their services for more complicated topics in the future. It is a service that encourages the student to write his paper, without AI assistance and that is very important in these days of essay writing on the fly.
