Oxbridge Essays - overdue paper / refund issue

Due to complications with my order, the 'Director of Sales' at Oxbridge Essays (oxbridgeessays.com) agreed to give me a £100 refund on my order - that was on 8 March 2010.

Initially I was told that the refund would be processed on Friday 12 March... but no refund was processed. Then the 'Director of Sales' said Friday 19 March but again no refund was processed.

I've e-mailed the company but still have no notification of a refund or indication of when they might get round to processing it.

Has anyone managed to get a promised refund from this company?

Problem solved :) Really good essay - just wish they'd sort their admin side a bit better.

Happy that you are pleased with the essay. We had no great impression of this company earlier. A lot of stories floating around.

Firstly, it is only a very small minority of clients who request a refund, the majority being more than happy with the work received and the service provided. Indeed, our alterations period, which we offer free of charge, tends to iron out any corrections the client wishes to have made to the work. Thus, when a client does make a complaint, we take this very seriously. We pride ourselves on ensuring our essays are tailor-made to each client's requirements (unlike other academic services who store essays on a databank for use time and again) and, therefore, any request for a refund has to be looked into on an individual basis by our Quality Control department. This is why it can take some time for a refund to be processed. We do not take client complaints lightly as it is a matter of great importance to us that our clients enjoy their Oxbridge experience and believe it to have been beneficial. We will therefore, of course, approve all refund requests which we deem acceptable, and deal with these in a quick and efficient manner. Administratively, when dealing with bank payments, one has to remember that it can take a number of days for payment to clear into bank accounts (particularly if they are international accounts), and that we also do not process payments over the weekend or Bank Holidays. Thus, delay is not necessarily down to 'poor administration'. As stated before, we take all refund requests with the utmost sincerity, and pride ourselves on producing both the highest quality of work and most efficient of services.

Oxbridge-essays.. I was due my essay 3 days ago. heard nothing from them! any ideas anyone?

I paid for an essay with oxbridge-essays.com a week ago. I was due the essay on friday, got an email from them saying it would be there by the end of the day.

No essay came. They are ignoring my emails, I called them to ask them when the essay will be done by... they said " they cannot say anything till they speak to the writer". Has anyone got any advice?

If the essay still hasn't been delivered three days after the due date, you are definitely entitled to a refund. Send a polite but firm email to the admin demanding a refund. their reaction to that will tell you what kind of company you're dealing with--start a chargeback with your credit card company, if necessary.

After searching all the comments about custompapers.com and oxbridge-essays.com
went with oxbridge as I am studying in England. Nightmare!

Merged topic:

Got dissertation date dawning,, thinking of using custompapers, anyone?

I have been messed around by OXBRIDGE-ESSAYS. I wanted to see what they were like before I ordered my dissertation.

I really need to make a decision on who to use. From comments on this site, I came up with Custompapers.com.

Anyone got any advice?

I'm in the same boat...just got scammed over the last month by Oxbridge Researchers aka thessayist.com. I got a quote from *** that seemed high, but I guess since I got nothing from Thessayist, ($38 per page) then the value is debatable.

I just placed an order the The Paper Experts and will see if they perform or not.

Just an update..
got my essay this morning, looks good quality.
Have asked for the 10% day refund for work late.
Lets see what happens, such a shame they dont keep you informed as essay looks good.
Will update when I see what they say about the refund.

just in case anyone is thinking of ordering with oxbridgeessays.com I have received my essay 2 days late and I paid £300 for 3000 words the essay I received was 2164.

Waiting to see what they say. Customer service has not been the best.

I have been offered a credit to carry forward. The essay was of good quality.
the essay was 2164 words. I paid for 2500. I was told this includes the references.
I did not know the total word count would include the references so my mistake for not checking.
They are trying to get things sorted. I have been offered to expand the essay by paying 45 pounds. Things seem to be getting sorted so will conclude once things are finished..

emma99, If you believe any of this character's opinions, she probably would be able to sell you that bridge.

I have been offered a credit to carry forward.

If the site claimed that their word counts excluded references then you have legitimate grounds to complain. I for one would prefer writing a 2000-word paper requiring only 2 references over a 2000-word paper requiring 20. Thus, I can see why it is reasonable for orders to include references as part of their word count. It simply reflects the cost associated with the difficulty of finding legitimate sources for a given topic.

Hi. I am currently in the middle of an order with Oxbridge Essays. I was supposed to get half of the work halfway through the period leading up to my deadline. What I received was not half of the work at all but a quarter of it! It was also of very poor quality. Most of it didn't make any sense. Also spoke to the writer, who seemed to know very little about my subject. Don't even think it was the writer - sounded like someone I had already spoken to from the office. I'll update my blog once I've received the finished piece. In the meantime be wary of TORG.

If it's this bad now, why not cancel and ask for a refund?

So I am to take it that the OP withdrew his refund claim due to the revision being better than expected? He did not mention that he had a pending revision request so his post can be considered misleading. Incomplete information means the company was unfairly judged in this thread. Next time, the OP must make sure that he gives us the complete information so that people will not jump to conclusions about potentially working with a writing company or writer.

We had no great impression of this company earlier. A lot of stories floating around.

While this company is truly questionable, and the commendations from major British newspapers should not be believed or taken with a grain of salt (newspapers will never endorse academic writing companies regardless of its location. They are against the practice of hiring ghost writers for academic or professional purposes), they somehow manage to stay in the business. Yes, there are conflicting reviews for the services of this company. Yes, there are notable negative experiences but, there are also considerable positive results that students can consider. Always remember, the potential outcome of the hiring will be foreseen during your ordering process. When faced with difficulties in placing an order, or if you have an uncooperative writer, it is best to not place the order or, cancel it to save you the trouble. The negative or positive experience will all depend upon you since you make the final decision in the hiring process. Consider all pre-order experiences prior to making a final decision.
