Hi,

I contacted a thesis writer because I couldn't figure out the right statistical model. All communication was first through whatsapp. I met him in person (in kenya) and he had to sent his work. He sent through social media and obtained my details because of that. His work was so bad I didnt use it. Moreover he was late and as I had a bad feeling I worked day and night to finish it myself in time. Of course later on, after his own deadline he sent me 15pages of his low quality work. He doubled the price and asked 1600 dollars...

As he did some effort I paid him half. Now he is still threatening to contact my university (and publish my literature review and data set). I passed the plagiarism test.

Should I still pay him to be free of worries or am I having zero risk? I had the intention to use a thesis writer but didnt do it in the end.

You should not have paid him even half the fee for a lousy effort. That is what made him brazen enough to demand full payment. When you do not have the intention of using the paper at all, you should not pay the writer. When a writer does not meet the writing requirements and client expectations, he should not be paid. No writer should be paid for unsatisfactory work. What you did was reward bad behavior.

I bet you did not even complain and tell him that you will not be using his shoddy paper. Since you did not use his paper even partially, you can safely ignore him. Having your details will be of no use because, even if he convinces a professor to check your work for plagiarism, which I doubt he can accomplish, the professor will see that your paper is 100 percent original and legit. He will trash the report for sure.

Sleep soundly tonight. You have no problems to worry about with this Kenyan. Do not forget to block him on social media to avoid further harrassment. Report him if possible to ensure he cannot victimize anyone else.

Can you share his name here or his social media number / identity so that the other students can be warned of this fraudulent writer? It would really be helpful to all concerned.

I agree with Noted, except that it's difficult to know what you should have paid him based on what percentage of the project that 15 pages represented. If you didn't use any of his work, I don't think there's anything your university would do about it, even if he contacts them. Aside from trusting him with such a big project without testing him with something smaller, first, the biggest mistake you made -- from your description -- is not contacting him immediately when he blew your deadline, to notify him that he breached your contract by not making your deadline and that payment would not be forthcoming.

I find the majority of students are extremely careful not to reveal their university or education establishment so that a writer won't be able to contact them for any reason. Maybe something to consider for the future.
