Pakistan, historically, was a part of the British Indian empire. Since they were part of an English speaking empire, their educational foundation was no doubt, built upon the UK English language. It is something that continues to this day. While their educational standards may have deteriorated over the decades, they still practice the English language in their daily lives. This is perhaps the reason why they believe that they are capable of writing UK style English essays. They believe they have a good enough grasp of the language to get away with it. Sadly, what they think they can write in English, and the actual product that they produce are two different things.
