Please, tell me where it is possible to find free software which checks papers on plagiarism!
Thanks in advance!
Andrey, andreyknure.narod
Man, you're funny)))
As I can see from your site you work for two kiev based mills.
For free software you better ask google in Russian
Plagiarism Software
Can anyone suggest a good plagiarism detection software... A one which can give complete details which can then be exported to MS Word for example.
try copyscape and mydropbox, they are good
You can use the 'manual' method - just enter some direct words in quotation marks in a search engines.
i'm using Viper, and it's been ok for me
Alita,
Don't you know that they will store your paper and they can sell it in future???
Never use Viper!
I've never heard about it. Can you give some links where i can get more info?
Sure, look at their terms and conditions:

I really wonder if you really believed they will provide such plagiarism-detection software for free and not get anything in return
:-))))))))))
WritersBeware
All of you DO realize that Academic Answers Limited also operates ESSAY BANKS, right? Put 2 and 2 together.
Guys, thanks for information. I'll never use Viper again. It's great that i checked only 5 or 6 papers
2alice: Yes, i really believed it. there are loads of freeware over the Web, and people who create it don't get anything in return. but now i believe i was wrong
2WritersBeware: yes, if they sell essays they might have some sites that actually sell essays, i suspect :)

Trusted anti-plagiarism Program for students?
I searched and downloaded a program called Viper Plagiarisim Scanner from scanmyessay.
I scanned my partially completed essay; subsequently, I stumbled across a post that implied this program is not to be trusted.
Is this a trusted program? If it isn't, I have a feeling there is little I can do to stop them if they sell my essay to other parties or something like that...
WritersBeware
I suggest that you carefully read everything that I posted about the one-sided nature of the company's contract.

Ah...you mean this post: essayscam.org/forum/gt/warning-use-viper-raptor-plagiarism-scanner-waive-copyright-own-1062/
If only I came across this website sooner...
Anyway, thanks WritersBeware! You have saved tons of students and other people from fraudulent programs. I appreciate your help.

Hey guys,

I think it's only fair to say that some of the issues WB pointed out in his initial post have been dealt with or clarified - WB, would you not agree?
The program is certainly not fraudulent in any case. WB's issues as you'll see from the post are with our contract. His concern is that (in his opinion) we'll take students' essays and resell them through an essay bank. He found a link to an essay bank that we had set up in the past, but this was to allow students to sell their own essays. None of the essays in that bank are from Viper and this can be seen from the fact that they are sold by individual account holders. I think this bank has either been taken down now or is not linked from anywhere (this is what I believe but please correct me if I am wrong).
The contract allows us to retain a copy to use, so that other students can scan against previous essays submitted. WB is obviously still concerned that because we have this clause, we could potentially take those essays and sell them on in future. He believes that the terms of our contract allow us to do this.
All I can say to that (a) I don't believe the terms allow us to do this because selling the essays on is not the same as using a copy for the stated purpose - and (b) we have no intention of doing so, now or ever. I believe that if we did this, students would very quickly find out and it would be suicidal for the business from a PR point of view - not to mention the fact that arguably the students would be entitled to some of the proceeds and so could sue for damages.
I hope that I have presented both sides of the argument fairly WB - and of course your original thread and our discussion remains for people to review themselves.
PR point of view
JEn:
Business do not need PR!!!!
PR is for governments and public organizations. Business need CR only.
Snow:
There is nothing like turnitin.com. They have a website where students can check their work without it being stored in turnitin's database.
P.S I was here all the time, though silent.
PR is for governments and public organizations. Business need CR only.
Actually, there are some big businesses that need PR. Drug companies or chemical companies for instance. They need PR to create trust, not just in their brands or in their products, but also in the companies processes and safety protocols. This isn't just for the buyers, but even for those indirectly affected by their products.
For instance, if I use pesticides in my corn field or garden, it would indirectly affect the surrounding areas and may poison steams that may also poison drinking water. The public needs to know that these pesticides will not harm their drinking water or the surrounding areas; hence, PR.
No my friend. They still need to focus only on customers, inform them. Customer focused does not mean being unethical. In the specific case you mentioned the Business would be wasting resources if it does PR. It would probably and should only cater to customers. This is what all businesses do, some just don't use the right words.
Some definitions from Google
customer - The person or group that is the direct beneficiary of a project or service. The people for whom the project is being undertaken (indirect beneficiaries are probably stakeholders). If the persons or group are internal within your company,...
customer - Groups or individuals who have a business relationship with the organization--those who receive and use or are directly affected by the products and services of the organization. ....
I guess we learn something everyday, don't we?
Else we are dead!

Why should writers have to beware of plagiarism? It's pretty simple to avoid--don't do it. It's like saying, "be careful not to steal anything when you go to the store."
Hello,
I want to learn that what kind of programs can we use to check plagiarism or similarity? Can we check that? If yes, how reliable is that? After using the programs to check or websites (I do not have any idea if there is any program or website, can I be relaxed? Is there anyone have any idea?
write check and turn it in can be used
I read some kind of issues about websites saving the text. That's why I asked, thank you. These are reliable websites I believe...
Hi,
You can also check plagiarism from dustball.com It will help you a lot.
Does writecheck store your paper in the turinitin database?

Dustball is not as efficient as it claims to be. Anyone can test what I am saying. You can use Dustball to scan any documents. Repeat the same search in the Google bar. You'll find the later as more efficient. Turn-it-in has its own issues. Viper's popularity is also going down. I am guessing with a massive surge of written material, plagiarism scanners are losing pace. Perhaps, we need a different approach altogether, a new cutting-edge technology.

Try using a free plagiarism checker, like DupliChecker. It's free and doesn't store your work. It's easy when on a roll with essay writing to perhaps have too much similarity in your work, even if it is not intentional. You do not have to pay companies to check your work for you.
Sometimes, using plagiarism checkers are more trouble than it is worth since these databases are known to store your papers without your approval. Or some of the programs are not really good at detecting plagiarism in papers. For me, the best bet is to just take random sentences or paragraphs in your "original" essay which you can then stick into Google's search engine box. Hit return and wait for the results. If there is any plagiarism detected, it will be found in the search engine results. If there is no plagiarism, then you won't find any similar text or exact phrases in the online results. It's the better way to avoid having your information stored in a database where a double search could result in unexpected plagiarism content. The only way to remove the plagiarism detection would be to pay off the company to delete your original paper. That's why I sometimes view plagiarism sites and software as scams. Out to get your money just because you were too innocent to use a simpler method of plagiarism checking.
Try to avoid checking your paper for plagiarism because there is a distinct possibility that your paper will turn up plagiarized when your professor checks for it. That is because the databases mostly hold on to your paper for future comparison purposes and the professors won't know any better once they run the check. The only reason you have to worry about plagiarism is if you used too much in-text citations in your paper. Avoid using in-text citations and you avoid getting flagged for plagiarism regardless of what checker your professor uses.
That is the only way to get around the plagiarism software, whether of the free or paid kind. If you do not cite, you do not plagiarize. Use your own understanding when writing the document and you will find that even turnitin will be hard pressed to find a plagiarized section of your document.
I don't use a plagiarism checker at all. I won't put my writing or my clients' project at risk. How do I avoid plagiarism? I don't plagiarize! It's a fool-proof method. ;)
I am careful to cite anything discussed where the idea or information did not originate in my mind or it's not common knowledge. Everyone has his/her method of how they cite, but I do it was I go along so that I don't unintentionally forget. I don't add placeholder parentheses to fill in later. That's too risky. What if I'm interrupted and forget to go back and add (Doe, 2018)? I just don't risk it. Of course, that's just my personal work style. Whatever a writer's style and preferences, avoiding using a plagiarism checker should be a rule.
Since this ancient thread has been resurrected, I'll provide a quick response to this:
The contract allows us to retain a copy to use, so that other students can scan against previous essays submitted.
That's probably not the clause to which anybody was referring. The
other clause permits them to use anything scanned
"for the purpose of marketing Viper or any associated website of the Company." "Marketing" could include posting parts of those essays as "samples" or even making their full text available on their sites for free download. I don't think anybody had any problem with the specific clause to which "Jennifer" was referring and that she defended above.
Writers who don't plagiarize don't need any kind of plagiarism scanner, simply because everyone (whether he's a professional writer or a student) knows whether the words he's writing come directly from his own mind or from some source. Very experienced writers who have written about various topics many times could accidentally write something very similar to the way they might have expressed a similar idea previously; but nobody needs an online scanner for that: you just do a quick search on your own computer for old projects by topic keywords to make sure that you haven't accidentally written anything much too similar to something you've written before.
Students sometimes have a lot of trouble understanding that paraphrasing or completely rewriting ideas found in source material is still plagiarism if it (meaning the
idea, not the wording) isn't properly cited; but scanners can't help them with that at all, simply because they only recognize identical words and phrases, not the conceptual meaning of those words. Incidentally, they don't recognize contextual meaning, either; and they'll frequently incorrectly "flag" combinations of words identified in material that has absolutely nothing to do with the scanned project. For example, you could write the words "the merciless invasion continued for days" discussing the progress of a virus or other pathogen in a Nursing project about disease and find those words "flagged" because someone once used the exact same combination of words discussing the progress of the Nazis in WW2 Europe.
Students I had been dealing with prior to the lock-down were not asking me to check their papers for possible plagiarism. There are some students who have become wise to the problems posed by advance checking their papers. Submit the essay once for checking, face the possibility of plagiarism accusations once the paper is submitted. They have finally come to understand that when it comes to plagiarism checking, it is more advisable to let the professor or teacher do that. That way the paper is submitted once, when actually required, which means it won't get flagged. That results in a lesser chance of the paper getting flagged by the academic plagiarism checker.
Modern technology has all but eradicated the need for plagiarism checkers these days. That is because the tech savvy students use Ai to write their papers, which automatically return links for the sources used in the development of the topic. Since these links exist, it becomes easier for the students to avoid plagiarism because:
1. The students can easily verify the information sources;
2. The students can easily write an original paper for themselves based on the model and use the links that were previously used to develop the paper.
3. They can easily reformat the cited information within the paper for the writing style that is required for the class.
So plagiarism checkers do currently still exist, but AI has made it difficult for them to stay in business already.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.
I have to disagree with noted about AI having limited plagiarism in student papers. I've had classmates whose work was flagged as plagiarized because the source was not properly cited in the paper. That is the problem with AI. it gives the links to the sources of information, but it has not trained itself to properly cite the source in the paper. Neither does it actually show which parts of the paper were sourced from the material. So the students end up not knowing how to avoid plagiarized content. They won't bother to read every link that the AI provides. I find that it is better to use the plagiarism checker to double check the AI sources. It makes it easier for me to insert the correct citation in the page.
