I hired a writer on these forums a month back to write a paper for me. I was given a quote of 560 and agreed to it because I had asked the person to write a couple of pages beforehand and was confident with her style. since then, the person has consistently missed deadlines, given me substandard work and not follow any of the requiremenrs I needed of her. yesterday, on Sunday, she emailed me the wrong paper and then threatened to email my university about plagiarism claims if I did not pay her. I told her about her mistake. she then insisted she would email me the paper by Tuesday and then proceeded to email.me on Thursday. the paper was substandard, full of grammatical mistakes, did not fulfill my strict specs, the references was not in order and one of the major subsections was missing. now she's insisting I pay 500 dollars because in her words "she wrote a complete paper". what should I do?
Without disclosing anybody's identity or emails (yours or hers), why don't you just post the substance of your email to her informing her of the problem with the work and also post her response so that people reading this can form an opinion of who might be the cause of the apparent communication breakdown. I don't even schedule anything until it's paid in full, so it sounds a little weird to me that a writer who actually writes before payment would suddenly adopt such an unreasonable position if she really made all the mistakes you've described. Sometimes I make mistakes and if they're brought to my attention, I always want to fix them ASAP, even though I've already been paid, just to keep clients happy and keep their future business. If I did the work first, I couldn't imagine refusing to fix my mistakes with the client witholding my payment for it. Let us see the conversation if you want our opinion of who's right and who's wrong.
that's fine. but how do I post emails on the forums here? I don't want to be accused of having edited the emails to suit my position better
Well, it's obviously going to be up to people reading them to decide for themselves whether they sound credible or altered. Just copy/paste the body of the text without the headers or contact information. There's no way for you to prove they're unaltered, but it's better than asking for our opinion just based on your narrative synopsis of what you say the conversation was.
Do i sense a Phealkish smell?
It's alright guys. Have talked to the writer and resolved the issue.

Can be peddler or FreelanceRewriter with different email account then normal. They use dozen different emails and names..
Just in the outside chance anybody reading doesn't immediately recognize this fool for what he is, I've used (only) this exact same S/N on every essay-writing-related forum and as my ID at every essay company and as my only essay-writing-related email since 2000. I recently added only one other email to my website, so that I know who found me where. Both of my emails are always listed together on any public forum where they're allowed to be posted. Anybody who reaches me at the 2nd email is always told to switch to my main email in my first response. Furthermore, anybody who's ever read anything I've posted on the topic of payment knows that I don't even schedule work, much less write and provide it, until it's pre-paid in full.
Hmm.... Good to hear you resolved the issue @sanesaint. I was thinking your writer outsourced your work now that what she sent you was different from what you'd seen earlier. And it seems like the writer she outsourced your work to is a novice in the industry.
Well, I suggest next time, you just confirm with the writer whether they'll do the work on their own or will outsource it. This should be after checking the quality of their previous samples or even just a draft (1-2 pages) of your work.
Thanks!
$500 is a little too much for a bunch of papers, isnt it?
The short answer is no. The long answer depends on if you are asking that question about something specific in this dead, 2-year-old thread.
An essay writer is threatening meWhat happened is that an essay writer failed to send me an essay, so I contacted my credit card company so they could work with paypal to get my money back.
Now there is a chargeback case opened with paypal.
The essay writer emailed me this morning after I received the email from paypal.
They said:
I'll be contacting your school, dean and professor and seeking an injunction to kick you out of school.
I emailed them saying:
I didn't do anything. I never handed in any paper. You don't even know me. You don't know what school I go to or what course I was writing a paper for. You are a scammer and everything about you is fake. They replied back with:
"I will call the police and your school I will mail you your essay as this is what paypal wants or I will get my friend to deliver the essay to your home. :-)"
Can someone please help me fully understand this situation.
The question is - did he actually send you the completed paper? If he/she didn't then there's no case against you.
NAME the writer, please.
You should definitely name the writer, especially if you found the person here, for the benefit of all other potential customers and all legitimate writers with whom this person competes.
They replied back with: "I will call the police and your school I will mail you your essay as this is what paypal wants or I will get my friend to deliver the essay to your home. :-)"
Those all sound like empty and/or nonsensical threats. No matter what happened, it's not a "police" matter and if you never received any work, there's no issue with your school, especially since you said you never identified the school, anyway. Ironically, the only thing even close to being a police matter might be extortion if the person took your money and is now threatening you for trying to recover it through legal channels after you never received the work. Finally if the essay is already written (and is capable of being mailed or hand-delivered), the writer would have just emailed it to you in the first place and there would never have been any problem. So, why didn't you just tell the writer that if he/she emails it to you, you'll withdraw the dispute?
@sam24 Since you no longer pursued advice regarding what happened to you, I can only assume that you were somehow able to resolve the issue? In which case, it would be nice if you had at least informed us about how you solved the situation. I will admit though that I find these blackmail operations being run by fly by night writers hilarious. They always assume that a student will be so fraught with fright that the schmuck would just fork over the money, no questions asked, begging for their "secret" to be kept. When there is absolutely no way that these scammers can do what they are threatening to do and they should instead, be fearing the chargeback claims being filed against them. If enough chargeback claims are filed against a particular "seller account", Paypal can go so far as to ban that particular user. Believe me, these idiots don't have the money to place the long distance call to wherever just to call the police and your university. The amount of money they would spend on that would probably be equivalent to at least a month's wages for them. So don't worry, just laugh in their faces. These threats mean nothing.
I believe that the OP no longer pursued the advice given here because of fear that the situation might become worse. I can understand why the student would be worried and afraid of the repercussions of the actions taken on both sides but, I firmly believe that the writer never intended to complete the paper as instructed and instead, was really out to blackmail the student. Unfortunately, the student did not have the sense to recognize the scam before it went too far. I can only hope that the client did not pay the writer the blackmail money and that the writer eventually went on to his next victim, allowing this student to complete the semester in peace. These criminal writers keep doing what they are doing because the students pay them off in fear. There is nothing to fear from these scumbags. They can't do what they are threatening and will never succeed. They will be confined to the swamp that they exist in for the rest of their lives and eventually, will pay for the crimes they have done.

I had a similar situation, below is my story. I'm a freshman student in an UK university.
I read your post about the scammer, I had a question did they actually end up sending the email to professor? I had a similar situation with a Pakistani service (I thought they were from the UK as they initially claimed and write on their site) that helps with online exams / assignments.
Unfortunately, they asked for the syllabus and me being stupid I gave them my school and professor information. I am from UK, and it's my first time using that site, and now when I dispute the payment, they're threatening that they will contact the professor. I don't know what to do.
SO short story is I found them online filled out the form that asked for name, addresses, stuff, syllabus and lectures. But they didn't contact me thru mail but told me on the chat that now they know where you live and what university you go to. And they will contact the professor that you looked for external help in exam. Which they didn't help me neither they have exam copy.
Unfortunately I don't have the transcript from the chat, I contact him/ her thru chat, but just send the syllabus and form thru email. I contacted them for one of my exams, I was stressed and didn't know till now what I have done. So, I contacted them 2 hours prior to my exam and they didn't respond, so I went back to the website and ask them if they gonna do or not. They told me like: cancel the dispute or we will contact the professor that you were seeking for additional help. Also, my classes ended today - what if they end up emailing the professor, will he be authorized to do anything even though the class is over?
They didn't provide the service; I emailed them that exam was about to start in 2 hours, it was in person exam, but they told me that they will provide the answer. Well, at that time I just did the dispute with paypal.
I mean, I actually failed the course because the exam was worth 40% of the grade. However, I never gave them my login information as well the paper for final. Also, the professor and course information for this accounting course is easy to find online, including her homework, lectures, and syllabus, so basically anyone can get a hold of these materials without having to be in her class. I am so scared because it's my first quarter. I just wanted to know, for relief, if anyone contacted you before about the same concern as mine, and did their teacher receive a threatening email?
They didn't contact me after the payment; I was the one who found the same website again and asked them over the chat, if they end up doing the exam. In the chat they started to threaten me that they would email my professor and I should be ready to hear from the "professor" soon. I hope it will resolve positively.
They didn't contact me after the paymen
These types of accidents give bad examples to the business itself. I heavily suggest that people should thoroughly investigate and assess the company before agreeing to work with them to ensure that they're clear of these issues. It's always a bargain - but forums like this would definitively help.
Unfortunately, inexperienced clients in this industry often wait until they encounter problems with sites they've already paid for work to start researching those sites. It's not any different from taking a used car to your mechanic to check it out after you've already paid the seller for it instead of before you've paid for it.
@FreelanceWriter
Agreed. I often wonder why some clients do not conduct research and assess the competencies of the sites before they put their money into it. This is not to say, of course, that it is entirely their fault. But, like any other industry, there are numerous scam-like websites that plague this industry, meaning clients should ascertain that they are being wise with their decision-making beforehand. Furthermore, clients should learn to ask writers as though they are in the interview process for a job opportunity. After all, it is a job; writers should be challenged if they know what they are doing, especially if it is a new business/professional.
What should a student do in this case? Don't pay and, most importantly, do not use the paper that was given to you. This is one instance where the student doing the research and turning in a truly fresh paper, regardless of whatever grade the student might get, is the best action to take. Why? In case the writer does make good on the threat to submit the plagiarized paper to the person in authority, their blackmail will backfire on them. The paper will be totally different. In the direst of circumstances, I would even go so far as to advise the student to flunk that assignment by not submitting a paper. Make up for it next time. Don't give the writer any bullets to shoot you with. Protect yourself by not playing the game.
