I've been looking at this site to find out whether to bother with one of these companies or if I'll just end up losing my money. I see that asking about particular companies on here seems to go badly sometimes for various reasons, so I just thought I'd ask for signs of what to look for and what to avoid when I look at the websites for these on-line companies. Anybody have any thoughts?

Review my thread-posting history and you'll quickly learn about the red flags. Pay particular attention to my thread titles that reference specific sites.
As always, don't trust anyone's "word," even mine. I prefer that people review the evidence that I post and come to their own conclusions, rather than simply trusting me at face value.
the only way to be sure is through experience. even sites that look bad are sometimes good, because this is a very stripey industry to begin with-- vice versa with sites that look good-- it's all about finding a writer you like and sticking with them. roll the dice. and don't trust WB's advice-- in case it's not obvious, they're about as far from objective empiricism as it gets.

Dbryant, as you will soon come to realize, RustyWriter is an avid fraudster. In fact, he is an admitted CRIMINAL:
I got paid to make false promises. customers came into the office, and I took their money. when they left, I didn't help them, and I got paid anyway. these people paid for absolutely nothing. it was fun for a while, despite bad karma and high stress. it was a scam.
SOURCE: Does this site do oxymoron(ism)?
As I stated previously, trust only the evidence and ignore the criminal mouthpieces of the fraudulent sites, like RustyWriter, whose sole purpose in this forum is to convince people like you to fall victim to his employer's scam and line his dirty pockets.
WB's misuse of these words "crime," "fraud," and "scam," is perhaps the most serious red flag you should look out for.
Well, thanks for the responses. Guess I'll keep looking. Does anyone know what it means if a website's address ends in .us instead of .com or .org or something? Is that a bad sign? I saw something saying it means its in the USA but does that matter for an online company?
WritersBeware
Domain extensions mean nothing, except in the case of domains ending in .edu, .gov, and a few others that are not available for public registration.
It is important to remember that many foreign-operated site owners register .us domain names because they think that they can fool American customers into believing that their company is located in the United States.
How about those websites that do not have contact telephone numbers? Those that only have one e-mail address?
WritersBeware
There's nothing wrong with not displaying a phone number. In fact, most companies that display a phone number either don't answer the line or employ a third-party call center manned by people who can barely speak English.

Signs to determine if a writing service is legit?
What steps or process would you go through to get a legit writing service? I thought this was supposed to help-
I think that this is a bullhi*t site. I posted here thinking I could get some real guidance on where to get a real writing service! I have found that it is nothing but ******** and people with too much time on their hands.
People, like myself, who have gotten in some sort of bind and need help with writing a paper, shouldn't have to go through tons of crap to find a legit service or some guidance.
hey, crybaby! why don't you just drop out?

1 - look out for a companies house or VAT number.
2 - Make sure they have a UK landline number (not 0800, 0844, 0845, 0203 etc) such as 0207, 0161, 0113 etc.
Call them.
There should be no strange dial tones and the person on the other end should sound native to the UK.
3 - Be wary of low prices.
4 - Check if they advertise (those who don't rely on shady games and create one-time websites for few customers).
5 - Finally look out for a UK bank account.

FYI, three out of four have absolutely nothing to do with the US market, on which this site is focused.

Do you need a writer or a company? Think of working with independent writers instead of spending hours on end scrutinizing websites, which use all manner of tricks to mask their identities. I see you emerging from this place much more confused than when you came in, I guarantee that.

Um, you need to stop painting all sites with the same brush.

Websites, most of which use all manner
Really sorry I ever signed up for this website. You could be helping people out. No useful information on this site, a bunch of people with way to much time on their hands-and puting everyone else down.
You had a good idea, too bad it doesn't help anyone out!

Has it not occurred to you yet that nobody cares what you think?
Next time, try reading a forum's TOS before posting stupid comments that fly in the face of the forum's purpose.

Yet still posting here....
Unlike you, who are obviously so busy that you can't afford to keep posting on unhelpful websites that piss you off. Oh, wait....
I just found this place recently and i got replies to my questions, but i didn't put up a second post 22 minutes after the first one complaining that nobody responded
you can't be impatient when your asking strangers for help, it just doesn't make sense
I have had a hard time finding writers aswell. I have been browsing this site, and still no answer on a legit company.
LBeezy: That is because this site is NOT designed to advertise. It makes it too easy for adbots to do their work. It is designed to steer writers and students AWAY from bad, dishonest sites. Basically, if you see a service listed here, good chance that's a bad sign. The more search results, the more likely the company is bad. Also make sure that you look at the date of the posts: More recent, the better.
essaychat.com is a place to discuss that I've been directed to. Check Craigslist too, plenty of small businesses and freelancers promote there.

Legit Or Scam: The Deciding Factors of a Good Writing Service
After reading post after post, of people being scammed and asking for recommendations, and after search after search on the net, it appears to me that there are really only a couple of legitimate UK companies. What i mean by legitimate is this.
1. UK Phone Number
2. UK Staff Members
3. UK Registered
4. You will receive the work
5. It will not be plagiarized
6. The grade the paper receives will most likely be above a pass grade. (Nobody can Guarantee you a certain grade)
pheelyks
1. Doesn't tell you anything.
2. A good sign, but doesn't really tell you anything.
3. A good sign, but there are a few that are still really shady.
4-6. You won't know about these until after you've ordered, so they're not exactly helpful criteria, are they?
The problem that I see, is that companies that operate outside of the USA have an address IN the USA that they run as cover. I would have thought PayPal payment option would help, as you can always get your payment back, but that doesn't work either.
I don't want to verbatim turn in papers....but to have one to use as a guide and rewrite adding in my views etc., is my goal.
If anyone can help point me in the right direction, please let me know.
Not Geniune or a Bad Service? How to determine the company!
Well, one of the things that I was thinking lately is that how to distinguish between a non-genuine and low quality service companies. For instance, a client gets a work, but it is of low quality or over priced... should the client consider the company as non-genuine or should it be considered at low performing or low quality providing company.
What my point is that if a company is giving you a bad service in the draft, but they are excellent in correspondence, They do revisions for you, fulfill their guarantees, in case of unable to meet the guarantees they give back your money or what-ever promises they have made. What should be that particular company be categorized in as a non-genuine or a low performing.
I have been observing many companies here which are considered as scam or non-genuine but in actual they are just low performing. What do you think?
Low performance can also be linked to low pay. If you are paying a writer very low you can't expect a very high grade assignment.
Every situation is unique. When you write a lot of papers, some will be better than others and the chances of some clients being dissatisfied therefore increases. Conversely, more clients will also be delighted. Consequently, judging the quality of a service in general requires work from more than one writer, but if you are happy (or unhappy) with the work product, that's a mighty fine place to start. Writing good research papers can be tough sometimes, and some clients are complete morons who can't put two words together and blame you for everything that's wrong in their lives. Jeez -- I hate those clients. These types of people will likely claim they were robbed but we all know there are two sides to every story -- and we get paid to write about them.
All is based on luck in this industry.
If you are lucky enough you will get a good writer within one writing website and sometimes when the work load is more writers with low caliber also get work
Factors for the Essay Writing Service
The reputation of dissertation writing service is also very important to be considered. It is not a great idea to work with a company that has a track record of providing low quality essays. Since this is for an assignment or project in school, it is very essential that you hire a provider who can give you quality essay contents. In addition, you don't have to disregard a small writing service company just because they're new in the field. Who knows? They may have a team full of dedicated and awesome writers ready to give you an awesome essay. So do take into account the reputation of each companies you're eyeing to hire even the small and start-up ones. Read reviews and testimonials of their past and recurring clients so as to have an idea about the quality of their work.

So what you're saying can be interpreted as follows:
Yours is a startup business but with a committed team of writers. How should clients know you're legit and provide high-quality product? They should read the reviews provided on your website.
A brilliant formula to get attention. However, it's a cliche now. Say something different.
Spammer: Google "Essaychat." Also, try editing your web-copy; it is full of errors.
It is really a good information about how to get a quality essay writing service. This information is very helpful while searching for a good writing service provider.
From my experience don't go with a super cheap one. They won't deliver and when you cancel they apologize and say they can use your money to credit for another order with a top writer. It seems to just be a way for them to get a deposit on a more expensive writing project.
Here's the thing, if the blurb on the site reeks of terrible English grammar, run! If they have a Skype phone number, run! If they use a free email address such as gmail or yahoo, don't walk, run away! If you call and you get a person on the other end who speaks with a thick non-English accent, you can bet that is not a reliable academic outsourcing company. If they promise unlimited revisions, question why they would think that you would need such a guarantee. That is normally a red flag that the company employs inefficient writers and they are just out to make a quick buck. Keep tabs on the length of time that it takes the company representative to get back to your email inquiry. That is normally a good gauge of how reliable and efficient their after sales service can be. If it takes them more than a day to get back to you, that may not bode well for the completion time of any revisions or additional instructions for your paper. These are but a few of the signs that can help you assess whether or not you might be dealing with a writing company from hell.
Here's the thing, if the blurb on the site reeks of terrible English grammar, run!
Correct. While it's true that the customer services reps aren't necessarily writers, ordinarily, companies pay one or more of their best writers to come up with the text used on their websites. So, anytime the quality of the website text is atrocious, error-ridden ESL gibberish, you can assume that's the highest level of writing quality the company is capable of providing on any project you order from them and that most of the projects they provide won't even meet that "standard."
The telltale sign of a writing company that will end up being a problem for the client is all within the copy used on the site. If certain sentences sound like the use of particular words seem forced, then that company is more concerned with Adwords and search engine rankings than anything else. They won't care about the quality of their writer's product because their company doesn't have any quality in the first place. Or, if you are led to a blog article first with a link to a website at the end of the article, you can bet that the site has some questionable promotional and writing tactics. You don't want to get involved with them. Looking up their actual IP address and trying to zero in on an official location for the company could also prove to be a warning sign. If it pings all over the world, be careful, the company is hiding something.
If certain sentences sound like the use of particular words seem forced, then that company is more concerned with Adwords and search engine rankings than anything else.
This, I find, is generally true across the board when it comes to essay writing sites. I find that when you google these sites, the first ones that come in front of the search engine often come from scam-related sources. Evade using these types of sites, especially because you know that they're writing mills that could care less about the quality of the papers that they're producing. Always do intensive research on the companies you seek to write for.
I choose to tell students to approach writing companies at their own risk. They have heard enough horror stories from their classmates. They have read enough empty promises on the websites. If they bothered to chat with the company representative, they already have some signs of danger with regards to their personal data. It is better to not look for warning signs and simply avoid hiring a writing company altogether. It is always better to go directly to the source for your writing needs. In this case, that would be a truly independent academic writer who you contact directly and hire based on the merits of that writer, not the empty assurances of a company representative.
