Scam from writing service - a copyright issue with my work?

I've received text messages from the writing service I had worked with and was notified that I have a copyright issue with my work. I was looking for a service for the inspiration of my essay topic, and apparently their work was mediocre. I didn't adopt their thoughts, and haven't submitted my essay yet. I paid for the service by using debit card. I believe they have my whereabout (stud accom) and my name, so I'm just wondering will there be any repercussions after I ignore their messages? Thanks for your responding in advance.

You can safely ignore them since you did not use any part of the essay that was developed for you.There is no copyright problem. Either they transferred the rights to you or they did not. If not, then the paper maybe considered a model for you to gain inspiration from. It sounds to me like they are setting up to blackmail you. Block their emails and do not give it a second thought. None of these companies make good on their threats because they know the threat is not enforceable. Do not make the mistake of responding to the threat as it will embolden them to up the pressure.

Just out of curiosity, how did you find that company in the first place and what convinced you to use them instead of all of the other options out there?

I was searching books for essay inspiration, and then google ads popped up. I did have other options, and I did use them. I thought I might just need an inspiration from someone other than school faculties.

Did you do anything to research them before placing your order (such as on this forum), or only after things went bad?

@Ellan
Sorry you have had this bad experience.
For future reference there are plenty of good essay writing companies which you can find on this forum. Just beware anyone who is touting for your business directly.

I didn't. I didn't even know there might be a scam for this service. My order for the service is more of consulting (texting with experts in my research field) for general direction of research, instead of a completed assignment. So I didn't see there's a risk for this service and I do have learned a lesson from this mistake. (If this is what you're trying to remind me)

@a1writer
Thank you so much. Will keep that in mind.

I'm just curious, because it's always surprising to me when customers start searching "scam" (etc.), leading them here, but only after getting ripped off, first, by some company they assumed is legit.
