Hello all,
I am not a person who normally uses forums but I get to this page through a bit of research and would like some recommendations for actions to take and also to warn other students of these bunch of scammers.
Short story: I have with all my regret signed up for a dissertation support/writing service in the UK as I was having some struggles in my personal life to find some inspiration and to give me that initial push to complete my work. Total cost was £400 and they "kindly" offered that I can pay in 3x instalments: to start with £200 which I will receive a draft work for. Once that draft was done, it was no where to my expectations and I actually managed to free up some time for myself and finished my work on my own. As soon as I received the draft work I messaged the so called support person that I would like to withdraw from the service and stop writing for me. It was acknowledged and few days later confirmed over the phone. Few weeks later, email comes that they completed the work and pay the rest of money. I ignored them as sounded a bit dodgy already back than.
And here comes the deep end....
Few weeks on again, a phone call from Liverpool with a hardly understandable accent claiming to be from that company and asking me to pay again as they completed the work. Try to explain to them that I withdraw and was confirmed so leave me alone. Also started to seriously threatening and blackmailing me at my UNI, the only problem with that I never used their work or words for my own so good luck with that. Also they can get into trouble with the new Essay Mill law in the UK. Took me almost 30 mins. No succes there. Day after, whatsapp message from the support: now I have to pay £2500 to cover their legal fees which I have 24 hour to do so, haha! I was actually playing the game and try to get as much info out of them as possible, ie: company names, and also have a link for the £2500 payment which I asked for ( they use Stripe)
After all these I reported them to Stripe and they started investigation, can anyone recommend anything else how to make these scammers life a bit hell and to avoid future students to fall into these scammers pocket.
Thank you
