Writing Careers / Duenow.com don't pay their writers [18]

You can add duenow.com to the list of non-paying companies and I would encourage any writers who are currently writing for them to stop immediately.

Paper Due NowI had never had any problems with them before, but now I have not been paid for November or December and they currently owe me around $1700. I also saw on the essayfraud board that at least one other writer has not been paid by them, so this is not an isolated incident.

This other writer also stated that he or she has tried calling a couple of different numbers, but these numbers are either not working or not being answered.

The only contact the writers have ever had with the administrators for this site was through a ticket system on the writers' job board and the occassional phone call, but these tickets are no longer being answered. I did manage to track down a couple of alternate e-mail addresses, but neither of these addresses are in service anymore either.

To top things off, the company is still posting new writing assignments on the site, which unsuspecting writers are accepting.

I'm writing this to let other writers know that this company cannot be trusted. It almost seems as though the owner of this site shut the company down, but neglected to tell anyone and is still collecting money from customers.

Writing Careers / Duenow.com don't pay their writers [18]

I feel for every writer who has had money withheld for no reason and I wish there was something we could do to prevent this from happening. I had been writing for duenow off and on since 2005, with this last year being my busiest, and had also had some pretty decent sized paycheques from them in the past, which they paid in full.

I know all about fradulent companies like academia-research and essaywriters because I have been ripped of by them too, but this one was kind of shocking because I have not seen any anti-duenow sentiment around the web. I guess all I can do now is try to warn other writers to stay away from this company.

I have not been paid by this company either recently. They started off very good, but now have not paid me for November and December and they owe me a great deal of money. They simply stopped replying to any e-mails I have sent and didn't bother to send payment.

What was the number you called them at? I live in Canada, so maybe I will have better luck, but I need a way to reach them because the phone number that I have isn't working.

How did you find out that the address they posted is a fake? My sister lives in Edmonton and I was planning on visiting her next month, so if I can track down an address, I might stop by the office to see what's happening.

I have come up with some additional information that could be useful.

The company is run by an individual named Dwayne, who appears to be a pretty prominent businessman in Edmonton. He owes a wholesale poker store called thenuts.ca, a computer programming company called le.ca, and founded the advertising software Cubics, but appears to have sold it. He is registered with the BBB in Edmonton, although not for duenow.com, and seems to cheat people out of money on a regular basis.

Here are some links to some information on him.

I'm still planning a trip to Edmonton sometime in the near future, but I'm going to try calling, e-mailing, and even snail mail in order to get a response from this guy.

I haven't been up there yet, since it's about a 12 hour drive and I haven't had the time, but I've looked into a couple of different ways to go about it. I think what I may do is just file a case in small claims court while I'm there. If this happens, I'll be waiting about a year for my money, but I can't just let them get away with this.

I'm also considering stopping by their offices with my father because he what we call an Officer of the Peace in Canada and knows quite a bit about the laws on these sorts of things. All I know for now is that I won't give up.

Just stay persistent and hope for the best I guess. From what I've heard, it is very difficult to pursue legal action unless you live in the same country as the deadbeat employer.

No, it turns out it would end up costing me more to go through the whole process than what I am owed. This guy is taking a huge risk by not paying people, however, because he has a number of different business interests in Edmonton and if any bad publicity comes as a result of this it could be damaging.

I have managed to track down some additional contact information on him and the email address that he used is ceo@ and other information can be found here: whois.domaintools/le.ca and here: alexa.com/data/details/main/duenow

I really do not know what to do anymore because I can't get a response from him or anyone else at all. It makes me sick how people will take advantage of others, but I guess it just shows the type of person he is.

I'll start this by saying that I no longer write essays on a regular basis because the industry is oversaturated with frauds and criminals, but work has been slow this week so I decided to pick up a couple of essays over at Academia-Research, just for something to do. From past experience, I knew that they usually pay their writers small amounts without much trouble and that their phantom deductions usually appear when you've completed a large amount of work. It seems as though their "Thank You" for your hard work is to make up some reason to fine you.

Anyways, the essays that I completed this week were mostly just for fun, but it quickly turned into a somewhat stressful situation. Basically, the customer's directions were not thorough enough and his or her attachment did not work properly, which led to me not having the correct information. That is fair enough, as things happen sometimes and it should not have been a big deal. Well I have since received countless phone calls and messages from them, basically telling me that there will be consequences if the revision is not completed within an hour. There's no way that I'm going to write a second essay for a single fee and I have told them as such and the response that I received, in broken English mind you, was that the situation will get worse for me if HR is forced to get involved.

I'll admit that I have been stoking the fire, so to speak, as I want to see how outrageous their threats will get, since I'm not interested in a long term relationship with them, but these people are ridiculous. Now, I knew what I was getting into, so I'm really not surprised, but I find it laughable that this company tries to pull of these types of scams. Like, am I supposed to be scared by their threats? I can laugh about this situation because I am not relying on them for an income, but I feel incredibly bad for people who do need this money to pay their rents and their bills. I have been in a situation with a different company where my large payment never came, so I would advise everyone to research every company that they work for thoroughly because the warning signs are always there.

A legitimate company will stand behind its writers because they know how difficult it can be to find an educated and reliable writer. That is one of the main things to look for in an employer as unless your work is absolutely horrible, is plagarized, or you have blatantly ignored instructions, a good employer will take your side in any dispute because losing a good writer is simply not worth it. Academia-Research will hire absolutely anyone, so they are not worried about keeping people around long term and, therefore, will get what they can from you and will eventually screw you over.

It looks time DueNow has taken the time to completely redo their website. I had forgotten about this until tonight, but I'll definitely be contacting Mr. L. again.

While I've all but given up on ever getting my money from this clown, I thought I'd provide a little update to prevent others from working with him.

He now uses the address 2885 Sanford Ave SW #19781 Grandville, MI 49418, which I'm pretty sure is just a mailbox that he is renting, since it is located outside of a Church and is very similar to 2885 Sanford Ave SW #102

Grandville, MI 49418, which is the mailing address of mailboxforwarding.com. He's just trying to distance himself from his Edmonton address, no doubt because he has continued scamming people over the years.

The phone number he is using, 760-444-1120, is located in the San Diego area, but I would guess that he still lives in Edmonton and is using a call forwarding service through San Diego. Just a hunch.
