Writing Careers / Kenyan Writers - stop hiring them? [162]

lmfao, ran into this thread while randomly googling, just had to sign up & tell you all how depressed it's got me.

Seriously, can I possibly get anymore embarrassed as a Kenyan?? I hardly even write freelance as yet - got interested the other day when a friend told me to check it out - and this is the first thing I run into (facepalm), are you kidding me - is this the rep we've got out there right now??

Please tell me OP's post is not law already. If it is, and the IP ban is up & running out there, then somebody for the love of God tell me how I can get in, I don't think I'm even going to bother attempting to register on any site till a regular on this forum tells me I still have a chance (or confirms the opposite) lol :)... this thread was just saddening.

Over to you (pheelyks, WB, WRT & every other regular I've seen across the site)... feel free to hammer that final nail in on me (hopefully not).

PS/- Admin, site needs smileys, as a matter of urgency

Writing Careers / Writers: What do you say? [150]

Editor75 - well & truly owned by pheelyks right there.

Discovering into this forum could quite possibly wind up being best thing I've done today, it's like reading through your everyday board's flame wars - only so much better. Perfect grammar on the comebacks, along with the incredulous extent to which some posters seem out of their depth, I've definitely had my share of entertainment for the day thanks to all of you.

All that aside, can anyone tell me what writing company your all referring to when talking about ET?? Seems like it's made the cut for legitimacy here, and I've been checking out different sites all day, but can't relate that acronym to any I've come across so far...

I know I know, don't bother pointing out those mistakes - I got to texting while posting that, IT HAPPENS.

Talk about lack of concentration.

I'm pretty sure the reason no one says ET's full name is because you're not supposed to.

editor75 - little help unmasking ET for me, & possibly John's mom too? I'm still not old enough to get on the private threads, apparently. So over mail, maybe ;) ?

Do you have something to do with running the forum? Are you one of the moderators?

No, I'm not one of them. I'm barely a day old myself! (I assume your question was directed @ me)

well, going by these responses, I'll just go ahead and drop the issue. Pretty sure as I browse through more & more threads I'll eventually figure out what its all about, soon enough.

so both WB & pheelyks got banned, huh? From what I've seen going through various threads today I'd figured them to be supermods or something close, but it seems I was wrong!

but why do you keep making these kind of references if they aren't even around anymore? Is there a point?

When they went in on a thread, it came ALIVE. A kind of mad, trolling genius. Like debating taken over the top, but still done with good prose. Not to mention the occasional battles on who would deliver the final, most impressive figure of speech - I've loved reading through these in particular, haha.

In any case, you'll all be glad to know that I've outed the mystical ET. Hurrah for me.

I wish the forum allowed members the freedom to recommend websites to budding writers like myself, however. At this rate it'll be months before I figure out where to try signing up (bad enough that I'm ESL AND Kenyan already, going by what I've seen on the threads so far).

This, is priceless. Patrick FTW!

Scammers from Africa work in many industries - from online dating, pet sales, lottery winnings, banking fraud, to online writing.

Why thank you for that wake up call Patrick! I think I'll go ahead and try my hand at organized crime now - clearly, as a Kenyan, chances are 83% that I'll succeed.... as a matter of fact, if you give me your name and account number, I'll make sure to deposit my very first profits in your name, to aid in clearing the debt of those 25 poor souls who've made both our lives this miserable

My fifth-rate sarcasm aside, I truly feel sorry for you for what happened. I hope at the end of the day however, that you still have enough sense to realize how using the prevalence of con-artists from any particular country in this industry as a yardstick to condemn the entire populace of that society is quite frankly as ignorant as a person can get. This business seems chock-full of con-jobs and websites, from the Philippines all the way around and back. If your intent was solely to warn other forum users to stay away from Kenyan essay writers & such, then you should have left it at that. These ludicrous flame wars that seem to have popped up everywhere so far on this forum really are not doing anything to help what I still believe should be the cause of what seems to be the top-ranked writers' forum online - to aid writers, and clients looking for legitimate writing services!

Then again, I'm a fierce democratic, and believe in every person's right to their own selective opinion, and their subsequent right to dismiss the rest as utter nonsense :)
