All Answers Experience - they no longer need my services. Why?

Dear writers,

Answer AllI have been working for All Answers for about 4 month.

During this time I have completed a number of orders. All were accepted,
paid and my English was assessed as "Good".

I am NOT a native speaker, but I hold a degree from a UK university.

Last week I received a letter from them saying that they no longer required my services.
Can it somehow be connected with the fact that two weeks ago I applied for full time job with them?
They needed a person who would assign orders and so I decided to apply. In the cover letter I
stated that I was one of their writers and I would love to try a new job within the industry.
Similar information was included in my CV.

P.S. I believe I asked something really simple, so feel free to add negative comments.

Best regards,

It's a polite way of telling someone that "you are rubbish and unwanted"

These companies just work on their on whims and fancies. Since you are a writer you would have known the sources of assignment or probably their working

I feel you are right. Interesting, when I try to call any of the support team, in any company for any reason I constantly feel how they have this feeling "Oh, I stepped in something what to do? What to do?" "Oh, he is gone, what a relief, what joy, what pleasure. This is going to be a great day!". Especially, this concerns All Answers.

I don't think that you were fired from your job because you applied for a regular position with the company. Usually, these companies pretend to "hire from within" without really meaning it. I speak of course, of the scam companies. The upstanding companies honor the promotional hierarchy in the company so they would not fire someone for wanting to advance his status from within. Your application went on file but it was not taken seriously. My guess, is that the company was looking for ways to cut corners and increase profit. They often turn to the writers pool for increased profit and you were probably a casualty of this cycle. While you did a good job, it is possible that you did not rate highly enough for them to retain your services. Perhaps because you were new on staff (last in, first out firing system), or your ratings, although good, were not high enough to make them confident that you would be a continued asset to the company. It could also be that there was a change in management and it is the new management that vetted the writers and you were classified as "removable" by the new company HR.

These writing companies do not normally release their writers from their pool unless they have a very valid reason to cancel the writer account. After all, there is no employment contract shared between the two parties. This is still a freelance job for you and you are still only an affiliate of the company so there is no need for them to treat you as they would a regular employee. You may however, wish to consider the number of positive ratings your work got as opposed to the negative ratings.

The ratings game is normally what makes the difference in a writer's position at the company. It is also the major basis for the decision to keep or release a writer from the staff. How long did you work for them? It is possible that you forgot that you were still on a trial basis and when that time passed, and you failed to achieve a comfortable number of likes and return clients during that period, then that was the major factor that was used as the basis for dismissing you from their service.

True. In my experience, I've seen very few "released." Most times, they just stop getting assignments. It's rare to get the "we no longer need your services" message. If you received that, then, yes, it was most likely related to your ranking, as @WriterReivew said. There's nothing that can or should be done on your end. The best move is to move on and seek work elsewhere, or branch out on your own. If you feel there are any weaknesses in your writing, take this as a time to learn and improve. And believe me, we all can always learn more. It's important to never stop learning and to always strive to be better than you were yesterday. That's what a true entrepreneur does. :)

I am wondering if the OP ever bothered to verify the validity of the email he received. It is quite possible that it was sent out in error and had nothing to do with his application for a regular position. He should not have jumped to conclusions without first investigating the facts. We cannot explain to him why he lost his job because we were not the ones who fired him. Just because he doesn't have an employment contract with them doesn't mean they can release him without reason. He was well within his rights to have demanded a full explanation as to why he was fired. Normally, people who apply for a promotion don't get fired. They get interviewed and told if they qualified or not. Perhaps that was the way the company told him he didn't get the job he applied for? I mean, if he was dealing with a 3rd world writing company, then they probably would not know the process by which a person who applied for a promotion is told he didn't get the job. They might have mistakenly fired him from his writer job in the process.

The company is currently listed as "Under maintenance and will be back soon". I sincerely doubt that they will be back at all. They did not treat their writers properly and more than likely shut down the company, while still owing the writers back pay. Hence they are pretending to be under maintenance so that the writers will hold on to false hopes that they will still get the money owed to them. As of now, they no longer need the services of their writers at all. They are not even in the business anymore.

Chances are the company received complaints about the writer's work and they were satisfied that those complaints were justified; so they chose to just terminate the writer without going through the back-and-forth headache of discussing those complaints with the writer and engaging in the inevitable argument about it. With at-will employment, that's their prerogative.
