Hello everybody
I've been watching this forum for some time, and finally decided to ask for advice
I'm a Ukrainian writer, been in business since 2004, worked for researchedge, brightmindsnet, job4writers. Customers are satisfied with my writing, got number of positive reviews. In addition, i hold a degree in social work from one of the top ukrainian universities.

Maybe there are some other international writers here who can suggest other writing services that don't cheat, and accept international writers to work as a writer for hire?

Thanks for help :)

Hang on! Obviously no offence intended here but if a site is selling UK essays should it not be UK graduates? I only ask because could the subject matter covered or the structure of the answers be completely different in a different country?

Are you kidding? Some of these people still don't understand that speaking English is a prerequisite to writing English professionally. We're still a long way from the issue of where they received their formal higher education. Baby steps first, OK?

[Moved from]: Opinions Invited: freelance writers database .co.uk

In my quest to navigating through the multitude of scam/spam/rip-off sites I have come across the above and although I have searched the Forum, have found no mention of them.

I am mindful of the admonishments Newbies (like myself) receive when it comes to Forum rules, so please let me be clear:

I am not seeking a recommendation, but merely asking if this site has been discussed before and if I have missed any previous posts that would suggest as to its credibility.

Thank you!

Are there any companies hiring writers?

It seems like the industry is in a rut!

A lot of people blame the flood of companies from ex-colonial countries where Western English isn't spoken anymore churning out **** content for pennies, which then alienates a significant part of the customer base when their first and last experience in the industry turns out to be a resounding failure. What do you think?

This ^ plus the level of education is going down; to save money, schools hire ESL teachers from 3rd word countries where English is not even the official language working in US/UK/Australian colleges. This is how the 'leveling of the playing field' (or communism) works - high quality has been replaced with cheap imitations. When schools and teachers don't care about high standards, students don't care, either. In result, more and more students consider the low price of an example academic research service as the main factor and they end up working with Africans who cannot compose a simple English sentence without errors.

As a rule, decent companies tend not to hire international writers. So, that has to be a red flag right there.

I'm an ESL freelance writer - consider hiring me. Below is my cover letter if you're interested.

-----------

Decent ESL WriterMy name is Elizabeth, 28 years old and happily married. I am living with my husband for 1 year and 3 months. I am studying Dutch language here in Europe and currently a housewife. I can speak Dutch already with my husband and with my in-laws, but not fluent enough, but I love to learn foreign language.

When I was in college, I read many novels. The deep words amazed me, and if there are archaic words that are strange to me, I would get a thesaurus and check the meaning. During my 4th year in college, I led the writing of our research-paper and we had many revisions through the help of our professor.

I was born in the Philippines and my recent job there was a data analyst in international Business Process Outsourcing.

I used to work in my country as a bank clerk, field researcher and academic freelance writer. I quit writing because my monthly wage was low. I applied in BPO company and hired as a data analyst until I resigned to join my husband.

I had on the job training in a commercial bank and in a law office. I learned case analysis as a legal trainee in a law office, digesting cases and applying the rules of law. And my training helped me also to polish my writing and analytical skills. My law professor allowed me to study and read her law books.

It was in my sophomore year when I discovered my talent in writing essays because my teachers noticed in our examination in Law, Finance and Economics.

I love to read books and write poems and essays during my spare time. I am hardworking person, focused, and love to work in solitude. I always give importance to work-life balance to avoid stress and fatigue and to have quality time with my husband. I love to interact with people with the same interest like mine. My husband and I share a common interest in writing, He is my critic, being better than me in English subject. I discovered my voice to work as a freelance writer again in the comfort of our home, a way to savor life's history, situation, ideas, and wisdom.

I have interests in writing, reading, research, social science, health, literature, archaeology and the like. My dream course was Literature and Journalism, but I ended taking Commerce major in banking and finance, because the year when I enrolled in university, Literature nor Journalism was not offered by the university. I made good in Philippine History, Social Science, Literature and Law. I also earned units in Legal Management.

I believe I am an excellent research writer because I am able to write and willing to listen to the need of the clients and if there is vague instruction I will not hesitate to ask; I acknowledged and understand that plagiarism is stealing and not honorable and that authors should properly cite their references and bibliographies. I am enthusiastic over learning and doing things related to my field of interest-"doing what I love and loving what I do." I believe that the writing is an art and skill, and a good writer is emanating from the artist within. Moreover, I believe I am an excellent research writer because I am reliable and honest by keeping the resources confidential entrusted to me by the clients; Furthermore, I am willing to put time in research related to the essay or article, I am task to write and can meet deadlines, as long as I have given enough time.

There are just so many writing companies these days that it is next to impossible to tell the legitimate companies from the illegitimate ones. As a writer with experience working for various companies, you may even find out that you are applying to work at a company that is an associate or exists under the umbrella of the first company you worked for. Decent international writers might exist, and by that I mean those not based in the US or UK, but the companies may not be decent enough to hire them or treat them well. May I ask why you are looking to be connected to a new company at this point? You seem to have enough freelance contracts to keep you afloat at the moment. So why look for other companies to work for? It is not easy to find companies that would want to hire academic writers at the moment. The companies seem to be expanding their services from academic work to copywriting so you may not be able to find a company to hire you just for "academic needs" at the moment.

Academic writers who started out as attached academic outsourcing company writers should never look to move to another company after some time. The aim is to get out of slavery, not go deeper into it. I know, I have seen my friends get ill, cry like crazy because of the unreasonable work hours, and hit the wall when they get their salary and see all the deductions applied to it. It isn't worth it to try to stay employed at a company.

Instead, go for it as a "business owner" instead. Either start your own company and hire your own writers, whom you hopefully will not abuse in the manner that you were or, do the work yourself as a freelance writer. Either way, legitimate company or not, I don't advice a truly exceptional writer remain employed with a company for long. You lose more that way. The company still keeps the lion share of the profit while you get all of the stress and client abuse that comes with completing the order.

I do both. Instead of putting my eggs in one basket, as they say. Granted that there are period shifts where I am doing more work with the company or doing more work independently, but overall the mix has worked well for me. If one side of the spectrum is slow, it can generally be carried by the other.

I do both.. If one side of the spectrum is slow, it can generally be carried by the other.

This is exactly what I did for years while I was trying to build up a large enough private clientele to stop writing for any essay companies and work exclusively for myself. There's no reason you have to choose one or the other in the meantime; nor is there any reason not to work for more than one essay company at a time (or not to move from one company to another if a new company offers better pay rates or policies).

I would just like to caution the writers who are looking to be hired by academic writing companies these days. The work climate is not conducive to company hired workers at this point. The writing companies are barely keeping their heads above water at this point. The independent writers are faring far better than the affiliated ones. I guess that is because the companies have too much overhead when compared to the independent writers. The independent writers each for themselves. They don't have to share profits the same way a writing company does. It is better to try and create a client base of your own for now. Try not to split your profits if you do not have to.

It is sad to see how you claim to be a writer but don't know basic information about the language Africans speak. So you are telling me that Nigerians whose lingual Franca is English cannot speak English! It is people like you that fuel and profit from the discrimination in esl teaching industries. I thought writers are vast readers but it seems like you don't read at all.

Actually... NO. There is actually an updated anti essay mill law in the UK that covers this particular situation. It is illegal to engage in the academic writing business or engage pay for hire writers of any sort. So this question is actually irrelevant at this point. Do not engage any writer, whether UK or international based if you are a UK based student. The law does not exempt any student and there is documentation that the law has actively gone after the violators of this law and actually won as plaintiffs.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

Actually, the law being referred to here very specifically does exempt every student from any kind of liability or criminal enforcement. There is no case on record, anywhere, applying this law against any student, and it is absolutely impossible that there ever could be, according to the law, itself. Here's the link to the official guidance published by uk.gov:

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/1035459/Skills_and_Post-16_Education_Bill_November_2021_policy_notes.pdf

Will this new legislation criminalise students who use these services?
No.The offence is intended to target those providing essay mills commercially - it will not
criminalise students who have used or are using these services.
Though the students'
actions do still constitute cheating this is a matter for the institution they are enrolled at to
address. The Department for Education has been working closely with the Ministry of
Justice (MoJ) and the CPS to ensure that students that use essay mills are excluded
from any liability by virtue of this legislation. (p.58)

Submitting the work of others for academic credit has always been prohibited by the honor codes of academic institutions. That's obvious, but none of that has anything to do with this 2022 legislation, either, nor is there any kind of effort to identify and/or report students to their universities. According to their own published guidance, the Department of Education and the Ministry of Justice are doing the exact opposite, by working "to ensure that students that use essay mills are excluded from any liability by virtue of this legislation."

This is a sobering story which every student studying at any university based in England should read.

Excerpt from UCL's website realating to academic misconduct:
'You should be aware that it is a criminal offence to advertise or provide Contract Cheating services, and UCL would normally report this to the Police.'

Case Study: Contract Cheating

Amanda was suffering with illness for a few days prior to the start of Take-Home Paper assessment. She decided to go ahead with the assessment despite being ill, and struggled to answer the questions effectively due to the anxiety of not being able to perform her best. As a result she decided to use a "Homework Help" website to ask an assessment question she was struggling with. Having received an answer from the site, she used part of the answer but not all of it and submitted the assessment.

Several weeks later she was contacted by her Faculty and was accused of Contract Cheating. This was due to an investigation which had linked the student to usage of the website.

Outcome: Amanda had committed Contract Cheating. This is due to her Commissioning an answer from a third party, which would still be true if she had not used the answer at all (UCL must reasonably assume any Commissioned answer is done so with the intent to use it). The penalty in the case was Expulsion due to UCL's zero tolerance approach to Contract Cheating.

What should they have done: In this instance Amanda should have deferred the assessment to a later date through UCL's Extenuating Circumstances Procedure and undertaken the assessment when no longer ill.'

University of Liverpool's website states:
'The best tool at our disposal to limit these practices (cheating) is to educate our students with regard to academic integrity, support them in their learning and model the five fundamental values in our own research and teaching practice'. This shows that universities are being more proactive in offering help to students who may be tempted to cheat.

Every student who uses essay writing companies or freelance writers, run the real risk of being excluded from university. Even if you have been awarded a degree, you run the risk of it being taken away, if you are later found to have 'cheated,' so your career could also be at risk. Universities are developing new software tools and strategies to detect students who have used so-called essay mills.
