A friend with a TON of customers in need of writers!

Greetings all,

I am an ESL teacher living in Jiangsu, China and have a very good friend that has operated an essay-writing service out of Shanghai for the past handful of years (all of his customers are Chinese students abroad in Australia). He has been quite successful using writers in mainland China that have a decent grasp of the English language...however his writer list has been waning as of late. He shared this info with me yesterday, and I figured since I have a much better understanding of the English web, I'd do a little searching for solutions which ultimately led me to you guys.

China Writers WantedSo...if you don't mind I have just a couple questions. Side note, as a member of many message boards, I understand how annoying it is when noobs create a profile just to ask a stupid question, but under the circumstances I figured it would be worth a shot...especially since some of you seem to be freelance writers that may be interested - or might know someone else who is.

1) I am aware of thepensters (a website that has the writers themselves bid on each request)...are there more websites like that? Care to share their names if you know of any?

2) I understand that African writers are certainly not the same caliber as English-as-a-first-language writers, but can they be trusted for minimally passable work?

3) If I were to find him freelance writers willing to take on a percentage of his workload, what is an acceptable rate per page?

4) Do you know of any other message boards/websites where one can post essays/papers needed and have people contact them based on the type of paper requested?

5) I'm unsure if anyone is allowed to give recommendations on this board, but if you know of any websites worth using or at least checking out, OR any writers interested in a steady flow of work, please share below...and if that isn't allowed, please PM me or email me.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you can be of any help, it is TRULY much appreciated!

-Peter

As you say you're quite familiar with the English side of the Internet. This makes me wonder why, then, you're asking these questions. These are questions that ask for basic level or information.

Google is the best tool available to anyone looking for some answers.

I was accepted as a writer for the Pensters, but never did any papers for them. I just didn't like their system of bidding, the relatively low pay, and the fact that they still added a 40% "commission" to every order. They were quite a few of these companies where I was "officially" a writer but never actually wrote anything because I just didn't like the deal. There were others that I did work for but eventually just dropped off because I got sick of doing it, and a couple that I quit because they cheated me.

Honestly...nobody asked your writing history. Every single post you make quotes your writing history. It has gone from whining to annoying. Ok...some people cheated you. Well you are an idiot for letting them cheat you. Now get over it.

Well, they never will again because I no longer have anything to do with them. As far as "letting" them cheat me, I never did so. As you know very well, they are holding almost all the cards and can get away with just about anything, at least until the Justice Department and the Federal Trade Commission start getting after them.

If you truly are suing / pressing charges against a writing organization (criminal or civil), then the worst thing you can possibly do is talk about that organization on a message board.

That was all set in motion long before I started posting anything on here. With one of them (essaywriters.net[DND*]), they ended up paying everything they owed me in return for dropping the charges. As for the other one (Essay Tow'n) they seem to be run by an irrational person. No matter, I lost a much smaller amount to while with the first I lost nothing at all. In the end, I can only say that the one got away with anything as far as I was concerned, and it was much less than essaywriters.net[DND*].

Are you offering people customers or asking for information with a carrot stick

Companies don't just refuse to pay a writer for a bunch of papers for no reason. You earned your punishment.

Not at all times. They can pretty much get by when writing high school level papers. However, the have a problem in completing work that requires specialized understanding, in-depth research, and subject relevant language. These are the reasons why I do not allow my writers coming out of Africa to advance past the high school paper writing stage. There is just too much of a risk if you allow them to write beyond their actual abilities.

4) Do you know of any other message boards/websites where one can post essays/papers needed and have people contact them based on the type of paper requested?

It is no longer difficult for people to find message boards and websites to post their work and have the writers come to them with bids instead. Merely typing in the correct keywords into a search engine will help direct the potential client to the sites and the writers, to the potential work listings. The problem is that these websites often require a membership and there are hefty fees associated with such networking arenas. Both sides are often not willing to pay such costs.

Clients will never lack for writer choices at these forums which allow them to set the base price per page or per word at these venues. It is more preferrable actually to hire and independent writer that way since the writer is forced to submit credentials for the client to consider, choosing from a pool of applicants based solely upon his specific and personal considerations. There are application forms at these sites that the applicant has to fill up and client requested documents to upload so these sites are not geared towards "multi expertise" writers but rather, profession specific writers.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

This is a good idea as writers professing to be expert in multi disciplines should not be trusted. Their so-called expertise will be called into question when they have to express their confidence or lack of it to potential clients.

Much better to let a student who wants an essay in history select a writer with a qualification in history. There's a novelty! Even better to select a writer qualified in the same country as the student is studying since they will be familiar with the standard expected.
