Academic Paper Files

I recently launched a website called Academic Paper Files after working with reputable sites full-time for four years. Companies I know that care about the English quality and content are CustomPapers.com and UVOCorp.com- they'll tell writers to make changes if its below passing-level academic quality, or anything doesn't match the instructions for that matter. This is from experience with about 6-7 websites, and having heard of stories from (and seen the work/websites) others.. Custom Papers has the best customer service and is experienced, also based in Chicago if you play favorites with locations. Of course I bring all of my experience and 60+ dissertation (with countless essays and proposals) 'ghost portfolio' to the table if you want to try a newer but still experienced company. You can check out the sites or like the Facebook page for themed posts, relevant blog entries or articles, etc.: facebook.com/AcademicPaperFiles

of course, UVO.corp also fines its writers. do you?

btw, this is not an advertising forum. have you read the rules? advertising here is actually counter-productive; this is an anti-scam site.

Technically, he wasn't really advertising but rather, discussing his work experience and professional skills in his post. He just happened to be discussing his partnership with those companies in the process. It isn't advertising as it is informing the reader about himself as a professional. There is a big difference between simply discussing, which is what I believe he was doing here, as opposed to blatant advertising of a website, which he was doing in a veiled manner. Hence the powers that be allowed his post to stay and did not close the thread or anything like that. I guess there are ways around the advertising and reference ban after all, One needs to only be creative in handling the situation in order to get past the eagle eyes that monitor this forum. If you can do that, then you are one pretty good and creative writer. Which I believe the OP is. He managed to advertise without coming across as a real advertisement. I don't think the moderators just overlooked it. They knew it could get past them based on a technicality.

Well, I believe that when you post something like the OP did in the forum thread for Essay Services, then you can expect to see advertising there once in a while. Luckily, he wasn't blatant about it and he only made it appear like he was introducing himself to the forum public. Nothing wrong with that. Can't blame him for trying. After all, at the time of his post his business was just getting on its feet and barely walking.

These days the page is no longer available on FB so I guess the business did not do well enough for him. I find that sad. Not all of the freelancers out there manage to stay afloat the way we do. Its either they don't really know how to write and tried to do it anyway or, they just got caught up in the whole chargeback thing until they lost their capital on the business. I feel sad for this person either way.

If you're a good and versatile writer who provides high-quality work, that should not present a problem.

Spot on. It may take a bit to build a clientele, but once you have a few clients, providing quality work and meeting schedules is the most important step to retaining those and gaining more.

While the OP didn't mention anything about issues, in response to @WriteReview:

If chargebacks were a frequent issue, I'd be looking at several things. 1) Has my quality declined? 2) Am I meeting promised deadlines? 3) What type of customer is average for me?

A writer can't be experiencing multiple issues with chargebacks from different customers without there being some culpability on the writer's part. If the writer is positive quality and timeliness has not declined, then he/she will want to revisit the types of customers he/she works with. Sadly, there are some customers who are considered high risk. Some expect a lot of work for very little cost and want unlimited free revisions.

The OP will want to revisit his/her policies and check that they are making those policies clear BEFORE the customer pays a dime. Also, pay close attention to warning signs or red flags and avoid taking an order that hint as being a possible future issue. I'd much rather pass on an order than have a chargeback later.

A competent, honest, and reliable writer should not have a problem staying afloat. But there are other aspects of this business that a freelancer needs to understand in order to be successful. One of these is patience. It takes time to create and develop a good reputation in this industry. It is not only essay companies that rely on a good brand name. I think a good name is equally -if not more--indispensable to a freelancer as to an essay company.

Some expect a lot of work for very little cost and want unlimited free revisions.

This is the particular type of work that should be avoided by writers themselves. While I think that customers should have leverage in some instances when they are rightful in their demands, I have also encountered clients who had absurd requests that would end up wasting so much of my time. Writers should be firm in decision-making when handling clients, especially since not all clients really know how to comprehend instructions that were sent in by the professor. I remember I had a client once who ordered a 10-page paper. A few hours later on, she asked for countless revision requests that were quite far from the instructions of the project. When I asked if she was sure that these revisions were what she wanted, she simply nodded and told me to just do it. Even though I tried to rationalize to her calmly and respectfully that it's an odd request, she kept insisting. I spent hours on the revision until she was happy with the request. A few weeks later, she comes to me and tells me that the professor had issues because I didn't follow the instructions properly. I didn't necessarily know how to respond to her because I had already warned her when she asked for the revisions. Still, she had the nerve to got angry and blame me for the results. Clients have to be more just when approaching writers. They also have to learn to trust writers who have years of experience in handling these types of essays since I am sure that the writer would know exactly what to do. Even if it's a little bit off, it wouldn't be such a leap as though the writer would make her fail her classes.

Why would any writer ever provide free revisions based on requests that weren't in the original instructions for the project?

I think the original post was written as an advertisement. He was advertising his company as being at par with CustomPapers and UVOCorp based on his qualifications as a writer. He was also implying that he employs the same writing standards and quality check assurances as these previously mentioned writing companies. Repeated readings of his post even led me to believe that he is not only trying to gain clients via his facebook page, but also recruit writers for his company. He did fail to mention if he has a fining policy for his writers and a revision request policy for potential clients so his advertisement wasn't as complete as it should have been.
