Got scammed and blackmailed (myperfectpaper)

Perfect PaperAs I'm writing this not only am I stressed but I have anxiety from this experience. This sentence should've been a big warning "what is your good name". They are scammers operating out of India. When I got my paper back immediately I noticed typos, I noticed that they copy and pasted large pieces of text from other websites. A 10 year old could've done a better job.

After I asked for a refund, they refused and told me they'll have my paper written by other "experts". I said no thanks, and I'll be letting my bank know and subsequently blocked them.

Then I got calls, texts from random phone numbers. They name dropped me, that was so unprofessional when I asked for privacy. They tried to blackmail me by telling me they'll screenshot all of my messages, emails, and send them to my school. They also said they'll send a solicitor tomorrow, and that I could face $10k fine for academic dishonesty, and 10 years imprisonment. They also said this will impact my future employability.

I knew they were scammers but I didn't think they'd reach this level of depravity. They were effectively trying to buy my silence, but I didn't give in.

It's so immoral to prey on students that are already stressed by hard coursework. I was near a breaking point. Don't use myperfectpaper, just don't.

Don't use myperfectpaper, just don't.

It's great that you identified the company that did this to you, because most victims of these kinds of scams who come here asking for advice don't do that. By identifying the company, you're helping other students avoid becoming victims.

I said no thanks, and I'll be letting my bank know and subsequently blocked them.

Perfect. The first thing that anybody should do in response to any kind of blackmail by essay companies or writers is block them and continue blocking every means by which they contact you, subsequently.

They tried to blackmail me by telling me they'll screenshot all of my messages, emails, and send them to my school.

All of that is laughably stupid nonsense. Never respond to any of these threats. The quickest way to get them to leave you alone is to completely ignore them.

They are scammers operating out of India.

Just out of curiosity, how are students finding all of these crooked companies and why are you trusting them and only finding this forum after you get scammed and blackmailed?

I empathize with your distressing experience, and it's essential to address such situations with a level-headed approach. In the realm of online interactions, encountering unscrupulous individuals or entities is unfortunately not uncommon. The paramount advice in such circumstances is to maintain your composure, act prudently, and prioritize your well-being.

First and foremost, do not engage with these scammers. Blocking their communication is an appropriate initial step, as you have already done. It's vital to sever all ties with them to prevent any further harassment or intimidation. Moreover, refrain from responding to their threats or attempts at manipulation. These individuals thrive on your reaction, and by not giving in to their demands, you are taking away their power.

Secondly, document the interactions. Keep a record of all messages, emails, and any communication received from these scammers. This documentation serves as evidence if you ever need to involve the authorities or your school. The more detailed and organized your records, the stronger your position when addressing the issue.

"Just out of curiosity, how are students finding all of these crooked companies and why are you trusting them and only finding this forum after you get scammed and blackmailed?"

Apologies, if the formatting is wrong etc. I'm clearly very new here.

I did a silly thing by clicking the first result that popped up when I typed "essay writing services". I guess they paid Google so that their company's name shows up first on the site.

I had done this previously for another paper I had and it turned out very good, with a different site of course (I forgot which site it was).

I found this forum through googling "blackmailed by writing services". This site didn't show up when I was initially searching for these services, it's very unheard of.

And about my experience if they do tell my university then I'll be dismissed, I think. I didn't believe any of the other nonsense about solicitors etc. That's mainly to find victims that are gullible enough to be further extorted.

You shouldn't necessarily assume that they will actually be able to do that, but I won't go into any greater detail here, publicly, that could, conceivably, assist their efforts to do so. Whatever you do, do not contact your university "pre-emptively," as some other blackmail victims here have considered doing. It sounds like you did the right thing after being threatened, but anybody in the same situation should read:

myperfectpaper.co.uk just so its out there.

According to their website, the company's address is 207 Regent Street, London.

However, thousands of firms are listed as being based at number 207 Regent Street.
This posh London address is where some 4,000 firms call home: But it's not their real office. They pay £24 a month for a forwarding service - and it's a scammers paradise.

If you are studying at a university in England, you should not be using essay writing mills or freelance writers wherever based. It is against the law. That said the company is trying to scare you into parting with your money and as I have said repeatedly on this forum together with @noted, ignore them. Do not interact with them in any way. They are just bluffing.

For the future, you could try using AI as an alternative academic writing tool.

It is well known to UK students that there are academic laws in place to prevent contract cheating. Students have been successfully brought up on charges, preventing them from graduating, while the criminal companies are shut down. It is important that UK students protect themselves by not being ignorant of the law. Knowing that the law exists and actually following the law are 2 different things it seems. In my opinion, these go hand in hand. Know the law and follow the law. That way you prevent yourself from getting scammed, blackmailed, and fearful of academic backlash. Just stay on the side of right. Yes, use an AI to help you write the essay if you need to. At this rate, it is not safe to trust any academic writer. There are just too many fakes out there looking for prey.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

This is a perfect example of why it's completely meaningless that an essay company provides a phone number on its website. Typically, they're just leased 800 numbers that aren't actually linked to any real person or street address and they either ring endlessly or they have a perpetual automated answering service. More often than not, when companies do have someone actually answering their phones, that person's only role is to pretend to be a "customer service" rep while doing nothing besides working to gain the confidence of prospective customers by reassuring them that they can do their projects and promising to "assign" the "perfect expert" who has an advanced degree in whatever field corresponds to the customer's project inquiry. As described many times on this forum by customers who have been scammed by such companies, the tone of those reps always changes very dramatically as soon as the company has their hands on the customer's money and the customer complains, either about not having received the work by the deadline or, (much more commonly), about having received completely unusable garbage that obviously wasn't produced by any "expert" in any academic field. That's when the tone of those reps who sounded so incredibly nice and endlessly helpful when they were just working on gaining the confidence of their victims turns into quick hangups and, eventually, to overt threats, as soon as the customer mentions the company's "guarantees" of "unlimited revisions" and/or of a "100% refund guarantee." The only way that a phone number actually provides any real sense of security is when a writer divulges his real identity to prospective clients before payment and that name and phone number are both capable of being verified independently by the client to make sure they're real and that the number actually corresponds to the real name and location of the writer.

You're welcome. I'd also avoid continuing to post more details of ongoing exchanges with blackmailers here, because there's a good chance they're reading these threads and it only encourages them to continue when they know that you're still reading their messages and that they're scaring you.
