So I have lost my dissertation, 1250 pounds and a year of studies!!! I am thinking now of taking them to court and I am trying to find as many people with similar experience with them as mine. Toghether we will be able to claim more than seperately. So, please speak and contact me for plan of action :)))) I will bloody move the Earth to distroy those @#$%^*&%

I thought this company is above reproach. They say that they take only Oxford and Cambridge writers.

What was your topic? I am a writer; hence, the question.

We do this kind of papers often.

I think you can get your money back if you show how useless their paper was and that you could not use it in any way. They might keep a small amount. Usually I think these companies return most of it to save their own reputation. Good Luck!

Well they offered me only 20% for coming to their office twice (£250) I wanted the whole amount which they refused. I told them that I will take them to court and all newspapers will know about what they are doing, but still no reply. I have an interest from one newspaper so will see what they will be able to do.

Thanks for advice

Hi Kitty,

I think that it's very unlikely that you will get a 100% refund unless there is actual plagiarism within the paper. The writer who worked on your project may not have done the best job but they still worked on it and they still deserve some compensation for their effort.

Now, that doesn't mean that you don't have a strong case about why you deserve at least most of your money back. I would suggest the following:

1). Check the paper for plagiarism. There is often a link between poorly written papers and plagiarism. If you can find any portion of the paper plagiarized, then you'll be in a much better position and should be able to easily get 100% back.

2). Put together a schedule of dates - the due date, the lateness, etc. By being able to say exactly when the missed deadlines occurred, you'll be in a better position as well.

3). It sounds like, since you visited the local office, that you live in the same country as the company? That is great! I would consult a legal expert to find out your options. In the US it would probably be through small claims court but I don't know how the UK would handle a complaint (maybe julie can offer some advice here). I would think that once you have a clear legal strategy, you should visit them one more time - companies will hop to work with you once the legal threat is made in person. I assume that the UK also has organizations where consumers can complain about companies (like the BBB)?

4). Look over the directions that you gave and make sure that they were sufficient to get the quality that you wanted. If the instructions were vague, that is a problem for you and will be the source of the company's best defense.

Good luck.

Hi Lavinia,

Thanks for your message. The paper was 35% plagiarised... I have got all necessary emails and documentation. When I was making the amendments they new exactly what to change as in every lines they had tips from me. I do hope that I will be able to get at least most of my money back. I will try to find a good solicitor now. Thank you again

Oh wow, that's horrible that it was so severely plagiarized but great for you in terms of getting your money back. It was kind of you to even let them try to fix a plagiarized paper. You better get 100% then.

Good luck.

Well lets go togheter to a solicitor. I think we would be able to claim even more money!!!! If you want we can meet up and will try to do something togheter!!! I can assure you that you will not get either your paper back or money, so DO NOT PAY them even a penny more! Decision is yours. I will go anyway and get advice, but at least we could share the expenses if there will be any. Please contact me if you would like to do something about it.

Kitty, We are all tempted to go legal at one point or other, as writers and as students. It won't serve the purpose. You have to state that you were buying this essay from them. Please be careful. It should not spoil your student status. They know this weakness and that is how they dare to treat students carelessly.

Well lets go togheter to a solicitor

Could you manage to get your money back?

Kitty, they are hardened criminals. Forget about them and move on!
SolidSnake  - | 70
Apr 28, 2008 | #26
No do not 'move on' Kitty. You should do all you can to get compensated for your loss and/or tarnish the good OxbridgeEssays name. If, as Frosticles suggests, you 'forget about them' then you will let them win their fight against the good London people. BTW why dont you take a 'heavy' with you to their office and let him 'speak' to them. OE's Chris seems a weasel, if not a wimp. He may crack under the pressure. Worth a shot.
FrostatMidnight  1 | 125

You should do all you can to get compensated

We, at least five of us, did everything possible against Peter Richardson of Project1stclass. We did not win! Yes, I agree that Kitty should not give up if there is a grain of possibility of getting compensated. If she can't, no point in regretting and losing sleep over it. Have been there many times.

So why didn't you say this instead of "Forget about them and move on!"?
How much bad advice to you want to give? Or are you secretly tyring to get a job with OE? Woukdn't be the first time you used this board as a job hunting tool. lol

kitty did u pay on ur credit card coz if u did make a complaint through them all tell oxbridge wank face philip who is like 12 years old that u r seeing a solicitor, filing a complaint with ur bank and reporting them to trading standard, I did and got my money back, also ring 01522521521 they are the national student newspaper and they are tracking oxbridge essays and writing a big old business busting story of the f**kers. just harrass them and they will refund you, send emails, call, go down and definately report them to ur bank and trading standards and ring the newspaper and threaten to ring oxford and cambridge to find the writer, oxford and cambridge are investigating students at the mo who they think are writing for oxbridge as they use their uni email account to register with them, persevere, u r in the right, they have no business in taking ur money and giving you useless cr*p in return, fight and u will win. good luck!

I did report them to a bank and trading standards, I have to call them if they will not reply to my official complaint. Thank you so much for your post, I will do everything to get my money back!!! I have spoken with few newspapers and I will definitely ring the number for National Student newspaper. Thank you so much :)

I have report them to bank and trading standards, but they advice me to send them via recorded mail 3 complaints letter, and then if no answer to take them to court. Who knows better way of getting money back without having to go to court? Any ideas?? Please help.

Kitty - they are in clear violation of consumer law. your solicitor can get them on `bad faith.' not only will you receive a full refund but a monetary compensation as well. UK law is very very strict. don't you have a good solicitor?

KITTY,

As the amount us under £5,000 you can sue them in the Small Claims Court which is quite a simple procedure.
The court will help you with the documents but first you have to write a letter setting out your claim and giving the company a reasonable amount of time to pay--14 days should be enough. In the letter you also say that you will issue proceedings in the Small Claims Court and that the company will be liable to pay court and any other legal fees you may incur if payment is not received within the 14 day time period.

That letter usually does the trick.

Awful service. This is my second post against these guys. I'm so annoyed that I will go to any extent to get them into trouble because this is what they did to me. I placed an order with them for 5 day delivery. They confirmed after three days that they have found a writer and need payment to confirm. I paid immediately and two days later they said that it will take two days more. I had just two days remaining so I agreed but after two days they said that the writer could not finish the work and they would submit it the next day. I had no time so I asked for my money back but they refused. I lost my money and got nothing from them. Feel cheated.

As Gordon has mentioned, it's very easy to start a claim in the small claims court. Don't think because these people run internet businesses that they can get away with ripping you off - if they're UK based, they're subject to UK law like any other business. If you're finding it hard to get in touch with the company you've been ripped off by, and you know they're UK based and registered like Oxbridge are, go to the Companies House website - the company information including registered office is there for free, and you can also download the director information - it costs about a pound. If anyone wants to give me their email, I'll send them a copy of that for Oxbridge Essays (not sure whether I'm allowed to post contact info in here or not). You only need to send the company a letter of complaint, setting out all the details, to their registered office - if you have no luck, you can start a claim online : moneyclaim.gov.uk/ If you need legal advice, the Citizen's Advice Bureau will help you for free - in fact, this BBC webpage has a list of different people that can help you: bbc.co.uk/wales/x-ray/x_guides/directory/law_moneyclaim.shtml (and I'm sure there are plenty in here that can offer advice - as well as myself, I know there's at least one other regular who's also a lawyer)
