WATCH OUT ESSAYACADEMIA IS A FRAUD SITE. ANYONE ELSE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM?

Fraudatio  1 | 1

Unfortunately, hindsight is always 20/20. I ordered an essay from the website in question. First, here is what I ordered from Essay Academia.

Title: Personal Statement for Law School
Payment Made: Yes
Amount (Before Discount): $37.9
Amount (After Discount): $34.11
Created Date: June 2, 2011, 4:26 PM
Type of Work: Admission Essay
Academic Level: Law School
Deadline: 10 Days
No of pages: 2
Spacing: Double
Number of Source: 0
Number of Quotation: 0
Style: MLA
Order Uploaded: No

Second, before I ordered an essay, I used the "free draft" option. I must admit, I thought the quality of the "draft" was good (not superior or supreme, but good). I liked what the draft had to say, thus I was convinced to order an essay. My first suspicion of this website were the e-mail addresses. This red-flag immediately yelled scam to me. Here are the following e-mail addresses:

infoessayacademia@gmail
support@essayacademia.[DND*]

G-mail account? The second red-flag, which ought to have been obvious to me, was the physical address or lack thereof, to wit:

EssayAcademia
San Diego, CA
USA Zip-92173

Now, how do I resolve this alleged scam or fraud? Well, the good thing, is, fraud is not tolerated in any system of law. An actionable fraud is any deception practiced in order to induce another to part with property (money is considered property) or surrender some legal right; a false representation made with an intention to deceive; may be committed by stating what is known to be false or by professing knowledge of the truth of a statement which is false, but in either case, the essential ingredient is a falsehood uttered with intent to deceive. I would argue that Essay Academia fits one of the aforesaid, and it is clear that the Essay Academia intends to induce another to part with property.

With the research provided aforementioned by WritersBeware, I used that information with my complaint. I when into my PayPal account to file a dispute. By opening a dispute, I will be communicating with the seller (Essay Academia), not PayPal, about this problem transaction. I feel that I ought to reason with the seller first before taking further action. I have not heard from Essay Academia, yet, but if I cannot reason with Essay Academia, then I will escalate it to a PayPal claim. By escalating to a claim, I will be asking PayPal to review the case, and ultimately, PayPal will decide the outcome. If that fails, then I will go to my credit card issuer. I plan on filing a claim anyway for safe measures. If ALL of my remedies fail, then I am out $34.11. Not much to lose, but every penny counts. I will try all of my options.

I will keep everyone posted on the latest...

After work today, I went to my bank to discuss my issue. My bank could not file a "chargeback" claim owing to the fact that I authorized the transaction (duh--I figured they would say that). If the transaction was unauthorized, then my bank would be able to help me. Nevertheless, my bank closed my account and they told me to call (402)-935-7733 (i.e. PayPal) to discuss my issue.

I called PayPal to discuss my issue. I gave them the facts and they were cooperative with me in the process. PayPal had me open a dispute claim with the seller (i.e. Essay Academia). I left a message for the seller. PayPal told me to wait for a response and workout the issue with the seller. If the seller refuses to refund my money, not cooperating, or I do not hear from them, then I have to escalate the issue to PayPal. PayPal will then investigate the issue and ultimately make a decision on the refund.

So far, I have been pleased with the customer service from my bank and PayPal. I hope this helps individuals who have been scammed or who may be scammed by Essay Academia in the future.

I will keep you posted...

**SUCCESS**

EssayAcademia agreed to refund my money without any dispute. Success in one day! Essay Academia said the following:

"EssayAcademia granted [NAME BLOCKED]'s request for a $34.11 USD refund. This dispute will be closed once the refund is complete. 6/3/2011 19:18 PDT

From Seller - EssayAcademia 6/3/2011 19:18 PDT
Your money is refunded. But, please note that we are from USA and our marketing activities are undertaken from many countries including India and UAE (United Arab Emirates). Please note that we do not force anyone to place order and you were given draft absolutely free."

While I was not "forced" to place an order, I was deprived of my property or my right by trick, artifice, or deception, thus I was injured by the withholding of what was due to me. There you go folks. A successful refund from a scam. I hope this helps anyone having trouble with EssayAcademia.

P.S. On my transaction record, I have the following business contact information, to wit:

Customer Service URL: essay academia
Customer Service Email: admin@essayacademia
Customer Service Phone: +91 16197934478

That +91 is the international calling code for India.

I ordered a dissertation to be done and the writer had 60 days and couldn't do mor ethan 4 pages. Those 4 pages were copied and pasted from other sites. And that writer was a non native speaker. Then I requested a refund. Essay Academia assured me they'd get a native speaker, phd writer instead. So I let the writer start and he seemed to be dragging his feet. So I cancelled the order and asked for a refund. The company told me to wait 15-20 days and then they would recollect the payment from the writer. 25 days later they told me the writer didn't have any money in his account and to wait. In the meantime, I sent several emails none wer eanswered and called their customer service hotline. Their customer service is just a call center no real workers are there. All you can do is leave messages, their online chat never answers my "calls" Two months later, they tell me they were sorry for the delay, contacted their attorney and are trying to pursue this. I was so relieved to hear that. They told me to set up a paypal account and had to pay me with "their" money in installments. I said great. Then a few weeks go by and didn't hear anything. They then tell me their accounts manager is gone and give them another week. It's another week later. I feel like I'm being scammed. They didn't erase my account but I have yet to be paid nearly 3 months after a refund was promised. What do I do? They don't have a physical address and I can't report them to the BBB or the General Attorney. I am stuck. I have no product and they have nearly 900 us dollars. I send them like three emails a day. No replies. They are ignoring me.

They don't have a physical address and I can't report them to the BBB or the General Attorney.

This wouldn't do any good anyway. You need to start a chargeback with your credit card company, NOW. You might already be too late to do this, which is exactly what the company was hoping for when they kept stringing you along.

Well, that's what happens when you order from a foreign, ESL, ripoff site about which there were ample warnings in this forum.

I can answer that: A draft is something that people who don't write essays for a living assume those of us who do rely on to do our jobs.

Unfortunately, you did not even attempt to distinguish between a draft and an essay. You must be an aspiring ESL writer!? You are terribly disorganized in your writing. Begin by clearly rewriting your statements, and please, try to be coherent enough. Everyone is reading. It`s simple, write it or quit typing!

I just wanted bring to this user`s attention the fact that he is misleading others!

Unfortunately, you did not even attempt to distinguish between a draft and an essay.

What's the difference, then?

You must be an aspiring ESL writer!?

You love to accuse others of this, but you never offer any proof. the fact that everyone can tell you yourself are an ESL writer makes this all the more hypocritical.

try to be coherent enough

What exactly is,"coherent enough"? Something's either coherent or it isn't.

user`s

Still haven't found the apostrophe, I see.

but you never offer any proof. the fact that everyone can tell you yourself are an ESL writer makes this all the more hypocritical.

Here is one proof: In the statement above, you ignored to capitalize the initial letter when starting a new sentence. I also find it grammatically erroneous to construct sentences such as this:

'everyone can tell you yourself are an ESL writer makes this all the more hypocritical.'

Please, make the corrections accordingly. Good day!

you ignored to capitalize the initial letter when starting a new sentence.

Missing a capitalization is called a typo. I am guilty of many typos on this forum. Saying things like, "you ignored to capitalize" reflect an incomplete grasp of grammar, which is not a simple error but a real gap in knowledge.

grammatically erroneous

What a needlessly complex phrase. My grammar also makes more sense when you quote the full sentence.

I know it is a serious typo error you are fond of making. Henceforth, stop dreaming yourself as a writer. You do not have what it takes, and your dreams of becoming one may never come true. Good luck in your other endeavors!

Not really fond, but it happens.

There's another major grammar issue here.

If PayPal and your bank both refuse to help, you're pretty much out of luck. Why won't they investigate?

I don't understand how come your bank plus PayPal didn't find any room to help. The transaction went scamming. Wish you could have googled EA some beforehand. Anyways, you can now show all your cards to the company. Tell them openly you're going to report them to the law enforcement agencies and show them all the proof of your transaction with them. Say to them you will post reviews, complaints, etc.

Then wait some and if no response, you can start an iBattle against them. Think of so many potential customers to be scammed in the future. Perhaps, a little time you spend can benefit many.

I am thinking the EA guys (compulsive criminals) won't give a heed to your warnings. Thus, it'd be useful you start a campaign against them. Send each and every link to them you post to expose their dishonestly.

I am sure it'll work. Give it a try. Don't just sit mourning.

dissertation written by other company?

If you turn in the same thing, it sure is illegal. However, writing industry (legit) aims to facilitate students by providing model writeups. It's 100% legal.

You should talk to your lawyer and discuss all the things regarding your failed transaction. Secondly, you should google EA + scam, you will see a lot of pages including complaint board, etc.

Visit as many as you can and post your experience (review) on those pages. Also, it'd be a good idea starting your own blog and inviting people who have also been scammed. I am telling you there are hundreds of such people and, guess what, the number is counting.

You need to contact your credit card company/bank and dispute the charges. Explain that what you paid for was not delivered at all and that the company has been unresponsive. The credit card company will then contact essayacademia to see what's going on, and the odds are pretty good you'll end up with a refund.

All these essay writing websites are a scam by definition. If you buy an essay and turn it in for a grade, you are a plagiarist. Ripping off people who buy essays to commit fraud (by turning them in as their own work) is like stealing from criminals. Everyone involved is committing a crime

Don't try to buy papers, and you won't get "scammed" (although really, it's not so much a scam as it is a hilarious example of karma in action). You deserve to lose every ******* penny.

When you sign up for a writing service, you can expect to get conned all the way. They prey on unsuspecting students who are looking for a way out of doing their homework for various reasons. While I will not dispute the validity of the reasons, I will dispute the fact that a student can rely on someone else to write his paper and expect to get a good result. These hired writers do not have access to the same resource materials as the student. They also barely speak English, much less write a the level expected of an American college student.

When you hire a writing service, you place your grades in their hands. Why would you do that? That's like asking a stranger to hold on to your IPhone while you go to the restroom. It simply isn't done. You know what the end result will be. There is no writing service out there that can deliver the same kind of paper that you could, as the student who actually attended the class, listened to the lectures, and did the research himself. That is why the "preview" was decent. The writer probably had a basic foundation on the topic, but not enough knowledge and expertise to actually get your paper done at the quality that was expected.

The bottom line is this, if you want to be sure to get a good grade, then move some things around in your schedule so you can actually do the work yourself. That is why there is that saying, "If you want it done right, do it yourself."

I am just wondering why the student assumed that the paper provided was a draft and not the final copy. It is possible that he asked for a draft beforehand, and received that from the company writer instead. I do not see any reference to having asked for the final copy of the paper, there was jump to a demand for a refund instead. So there are missing parts of this story that make me believe that the student may have jumped to conclusions. I have students tell my writers beforehand if they need a draft copy and by when they need it so that their draft requests can be accommodated. The draft is also uploaded as a separate file, clearly marked as a draft on the server to avoid confusion. My guess is, there was confusion all around. I mean, the student did not even realize he was screaming by keeping his CAPS locked, so what else could he have misunderstood about his order?

Just like the other bad academic writing company players our there, essayacademia is now no longer in service. Not as a writing company anyway. It fell into the hands of some Asian online gambling company that hopes the students who accidentally come across the site because of the misdirected url will stay to play a few rounds. Their intent is to make the students lose the money they earmarked for essay writing services. Anyway, the fact that the company is not longer present in its original service form means that is one less con company we have to worry about.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.

Many of the worst scam companies have died, but prospective customers shouldn't be lulled into the false assumption that there are none left. It's no less important now to still do your due diligence to identify and avoid the remaining (and new) scam companies and independent writers.
