WRITER APPLICATION LETTER
To Whom It May Concern:
Please accept this letter and attached resume as my application for the advertised Freelance Writer position. Allow me to briefly explain how my qualifications in conjunction with my experiences make me the ideal candidate for this position.
As my resume shows, I have had excellent opportunities to utilize and develop my craft. As a professional in the field, I have developed curriculum, conducted scholarly research, facilitated in resume writing, and created fictional literature. Furthermore, one of my most interesting positions, which allowed me to grow personally and professionally, was working as a freelance writer for Essay-Publishing - a Professional Writing Service. This assignment not only granted me the opportunity to communicate professionally through online platforms, it allowed me to work in tandem with those of various backgrounds; I truly enjoyed working closely with my clients to ensure their satisfaction in the final product.
Moreover, my repertoire not only includes writing professionally but teaching my passion to aspiring writers. Some of my most enjoyable teaching experiences include teaching English as a second language and developmental writing at County College in New Jersey. In my classroom, students inevitably utilize technology for writing essays and conducting research, creating websites and digital portfolios, and collaborating with faculty and peers. This task was not only intellectually stimulating; it inevitably allowed me to further sharpen my tools as a wordsmith.
I anticipate the opportunity to discuss further, my candidacy for this position and would be delighted to provide additional materials, such as a dossier of letters of reference and writing samples, to further exemplify my credentials.

AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL ESSAY - STATEMENT OF PURPOSE
This statement of purpose is an overview of my self; the person I was, the teacher I am, and the writer I aspire to be. Additionally, this statement is my formal introduction of whom I am and why I would be an asset to your company. Furthermore, I will examine my past accomplishments as a writer and teacher, present obstacles, and future goals I strive to accomplish through my work as a freelance writer and doctoral student.
As an undergraduate student, my research goals were somewhat undefined. Early in my education, my professional goal was simply to begin my teaching career. Shortly after graduation, I began my career teaching Spanish in a rural community in New Jersey. My assignment was to teach Spanish I at the high school level. While working in this position, I began to develop my research interests. The first week on the job, I quickly came to discover the district was notorious for its large population of defiant students. My discovery prompted me to investigate the methodologies of effective classroom management. My work in the classroom provided me with the inspiration as well as a kind of laboratory for my research. For the next two years, I researched the implications of classroom disruptions and the techniques for interventions that reduce the impact of disruptions for non-disruptive students.
After spending almost two years researching classroom management, the job left a lot to be desired; each day became more and more of a routine. The position, and district, offered no opportunities for further growth and development. Knowing I wanted more out of my career, I decided to send out my resume and see what opportunities would arise. This was a difficult decision to make because I liked this district and knew I was giving up financial stability as well as my opportunity for tenure.
To my surprise, I was quickly offered a position that presented a lot of opportunities. The assignment was teaching Spanish in a K-8 building. I would be the only World Language teacher in the building and would teach students in grades 2-8 introductory Spanish. Teaching multiple levels seemed to be the perfect balance of comfort and challenge. After the first day, I quickly learned the program that was being used was not very effective; there were many needed improvements to be made. I decided to discuss with my supervisor and administrators the ideas I had for improving the program. This teaching assignment quickly became the springboard to my next area of research.
I spent the next three years researching the pedagogy and effectiveness of current curriculums and methods utilized for teaching ESL/ELL and World Languages to students in grades 2-8. This assignment taught me a great deal about education and myself as a teacher. Through my research, I developed and implement an innovative ESL/ELL and World Language program for the district. Some additional accomplishments and experiences while serving in this position included: teaching in-service/professional development workshops, and mentoring aspiring teachers. The position not only installed in me a great deal of confidence, it helped me to realize my future ambitions and clearly define my future research goals.
To further pursue my personal and professional goals, I began a teaching career at the County College where I am currently an adjunct professor. Through this experience, I have come to realize how much I truly enjoy teaching at the collegial. Teaching at the college level has also generated a number of interesting questions regarding different pedagogical theories. These questions have inspired me to continue my education and further my research.
As a prospective student, my research goals will focus on relating critical readings of theoretical texts to my own experiments as a teacher, using narratives of classroom successes and failures as the bases for critical reflection on different pedagogical theories. After completing my dissertation, I plan to continue my work in current classroom management and linguistic theory through a critical examination of the rhetoric of technological advancement in the computer-mediated classroom.
