Has anyone ever used Craigslist to get help with their academic writing projects?

I decided the websites were to shady to gamble on. I hired someone local from Craigslist. Talked on the phone and worked out a half for the rough draft, half for the final copy agreement. She seems pretty legit, but you can never be too sure. Anyone have positive or negative experience from this?

How you know they are local? Its easy to fake phone number to look like local.

1. I've met up with the writer twice so far.

2. How the hell do you 'fake' a phone number? Either it's real or it's not, and it is. You'd have to get the line activated

by a local retailer to be assigned the area code anyway.

1. You look for a date or writer?

2. Skype and other software can get you local area code. But if you meet them it may be real. Get driver license copy and you are safe.

Skype

Yes, you know all about Skype, considering that you use it on your sites.

I'm currently trying to find writers that are willing to write for my website through Craigslist. I'm in the US and want to use writers from the US, not anyone overseas so that is why I'm going with Craigslist so that I can actually meet them before sending them any papers to write.

Once I get my site up and running I will let you know the address. I'm the owner and I intend to have a quality site with quality writers from my area so there definitely won't be any scamming going on.

Curious to see how your craigslist experience works out...

I write for Academic Knowledge (my rating with them is 98%) and they're quite good. It's nice to have the work filtered out for you so you know you're going to get paid at the end of the day. Still, I wonder sometimes how much they pay you out of what they get...And the scheme doesn't seem to make sense, with some 1000 word jobs being paid £20 while others are worth £200. I wish someone would explain that to me.

Hi guys,

My two (Australian) cents. I initially advertised on Gumtree (Aussie equivalent of Gumtree) before I had a website.

I don't think it matters where you advertise or for that matter, where you find a writer. As long as the work is excellent, who really cares what the source is!

Earn Great Results

And by Aussie equivalent of Gumtree, I mean Aussie equivalent of 'Craigslist'. Oops... more coffee, please!

Having problems with Craigslist - they delete my essay writing services ads?

I have been trying out some ads on Craigslist to advertise my services. But they seem to get "flagged" and deleted most of the time. What's up with that? Is essay-writing a forbidden service, or am I using the wrong wording, or what?

Anybody else had this problem? Also, have you found Craigslist to be very effective in general?

Craigslist WriterI would not use Cragslist to hire a writer.

There are just too many unknown factors with regards to that particular hiring site.

Not to mention the amount of scandal that the meet-ups and problematic item deliveries that have been produced by the users of that site.

There is no way of actually making sure that you would be able to hire a competent writer from the site due to the lack of vetting procedures. The place is virtually the Wild West where anything goes and all the business dealing going on there always have an amount of trepidation involved. For security purposes, it would be best not to engage with any writers from that website.

You never know what kind of pyscho might lurking there. There is enough evidence online to prove that Craigslist, though on the level in most instances, is a breeding ground for evil minds due to the site set up. It would be best to stay as far away as possible from there and just hire writers from competent websites or freelance places like LinkedIn or UpWork. I can't believe I am saying this but, I would even trust a writer I hired over social media more than a writer from Craigslist.

It's true that Craig's List has gotten a bad rep due to past problems in relation to the people who use the website. That is not the same as Craig's List being a website of evil intent or a website that promotes dark thoughts in people with the posters and users being the potential victims. Craig's List is no more dangerous to use as a services listing as Google is as a search engine. I will agree though that just like any other service hired off the web, there should be a degree of concern and cautiousness when using services hired from their site listing.

I think that Craig's List is not very popular these days specifically because of the scandal that the site was involved in previously (Craig's List Killer anyone? Prostitution and babies for sale? These were previously on Craig's List as well.). Hiring an academic writer is safer though and does not require actual face to face interaction, making the service safer to a large extent for the user.

Exactly! While I'm not a Craigslist fan per se, I do see there have been efforts to improve and protect its audience. The website has started charging for many of the listing categories (i.e. services) that used to be free for everyone. By requiring a fee to post, they are able to verify the poster's identity through their respective payment methods. While not 100%, it does help reduce the risks somewhat.

As a writer who has used CL to get clients I can say that I've built up a large clientele because I get the work done on time and I follow certain standards (keep to the quote even if it takes longer than I quoted, no late papers, no plagiarism, etc.) I can't speak for everyone who advertises on CL (someone is flagging my posts) but you can definitely find people who are willing to work for you and keep working for you. Make sure to ask as many questions as you want. The better writers will be able to answer all of your questions.

Just like all other websites online offering services, the client's enter into the agreements at their own risk. It isn't fair to go all negative on CL just because of some bad things that happened on the site all those decades ago. I mean, the site did not do those things, the people using the site did. It isn't fair for the owner of the site to be judged based on criminal / historical and questionable actions done via the site. While it will never be a very popular source of writer services, the reality is, it still shows up in search engines and students will always go there and try things on for size. You could get a great academic writer, or you won't. Nobody can really tell. It's all about how well the client vets the writer anyway.

They probably don't allow academic ghostwriting. The same thing used to happen on Elance: as soon as I responded to some of the ads posted for academic projects, those ads were deleted and replaced with a notice that the ad had violated their policies..

While Craigslist does have a section called writing/editing, it does not list any active orders under that area. I am guessing this is because Craigslist is not the first site that comes to mind when somebody is looking for a writer in any capacity. Then, there is also the problem of the negative publicity attached to the name. While the other sections are actively participated in by both shoppers and providers, it is important to remember that caution should be used when dealing with any independent entity online. You never know if you are dealing with a negative person or not until after the deal closes.
The opinions are that of the author's alone based on an individual capacity. Opinions are provided "as is" and are not error-free.
