Exam ResultIf my suspicions are correct, the exam answers that were provided by the person who took the exam fo you are highly similar in presentation to another student's or, was flagged for plagiarism. The school examiners are basically taking extra steps to prove to themselves that you or another student did not cheat when you both took the test. Either way you are not the only person under investigation. The same writer may have taken the same test at different times for different students, using the same response series.

Normally, the test results come out after a few days or, you will receive a notification that you need to retake the test. It does not have anything to do with the black mailers contacting the uni. It has everything to do with them doing such a lousy cut and paste job when they answered the test questions. The uni may have reason to believe that you might have used cheat sheets when you took the test. Not necessarily that you paid someone to take the test for you.

Whatever the reason for the delay in the release of your test results, it is important that you keep calm. Do not make any knee jerk reactions at this point that might add further to your image of guilt. Wait a few days. Wait for the results to come out or for the uni to advise you as to if you need to resit for the test. Try to remain calm and level headed as best as you can.

It is out of your hands now. You can only react to the results after it becomes known to you. Let us know of the scores or official uni communication. Maybe we can further help you then.

PS. This is based upon my knowledge of US exam under review information. It may be similar to the same reasoning used by UK universities.

Thank you so much for your detailed post!
I did think it could be checked for pliagrism
More people are in the same both now, like 12 people in total!
Not sure how long this process will take! But i will be more than happy to resit! I am so worried i d get kicked out of university because of this!!

My tutor emailed back saying he can't provide us with any further information and we will be contacted in due course.

So if they think its pliagrism what shall i say about this that does not sound so bad :(

@Agirl33
Try to remain calm. Try not to panic. There is no sense in panicking right now. You will most likely make yourself admit guilt without being asked about it if you continue like this. Keep your wits about you but refrain from losing your self control. I am not privy to the type of test that you had that person take for you so I cannot accurately say if they are concerned about potential plagiarism or another kind of cheating. Maybe let us know what the exam was about and what sort of tests were provided so we can better assess what might be going on? Only if you are comfortable with doing that though. If 12 students are being checked then you are not the only one who may have hired a writer to take the test. These writers will be from various companies or independent writers though. It is not necessarily just that one writer.

Plagiarism is considered cheating just the same. If it is plagiarism, then you need to prove that you unknowingly plagiarized, which is almost impossible to do. If the uni does approach you to resit, then just take the test over and do not say anything. If they question you, then you may need to get a lawyer familiar with the academic laws of your country to help you develop a believable defense, should you be brought up on academic dishonesty charges.

Was it a proctored exam? If so then there may be a suspicion that you had someone take the test for you because the proctor would check the IP address, student number, and other identifiers to confirm that you were actually the one who took the test. If the IP address passed through a VPN to get into the uni server, the IT department will be able to identify this and call attention to your test. If this is the case then you will definitely need to lawyer up because they may not ask you to retake the test.

Stop trying to second guess the situation for the time being. It will not do you any good physically, emotionally, and mentally. Do not exhaust yourself. Your family needs you to be functional. You need to be functional if you are to get yourself through this crisis. Rest as often as you can. Take a herbal sedative if you need to. Let's work on things as the problems come up. You are not alone in this. We will help you as best as we can.

I will def try to remain calm and face the problems as they come.
I dont think it was a proctored exam but i could be wrong!
Also, some of the students who are "under review" are the best in my class and 2 of them i can garantee that 100% they have not cheated!!

I will be more than happy to resit the test, i just hope its not something else.

Sit tight. We will ride this out together. Do not feel alone. I am hopeful this will turn out to be nothing but senseless worry for you. Now, go find that distraction. Engage in your favorite hobby or something. Just try to forget about this until you have to remember / act on it.

May we know what their results and uni communications (if any) were? It could prove the trend of the investigation.

The only email they have received is this:
Hi...
The review of your exam paper has been completed.
You may now view your result on the grade book.
Best of wishes.

They all received really high grades like 79% +

They all received the same email.
Now me and 3 other people are still waiting.

That is very good news. That could mean that there was just a delay in the checking of the papers and nothing more. Try your best to think positive. I am hoping that you will receive the same email this coming week. Please do not forget to let us know how everything goes for you. We are rooting for you to succeed!

@Agirl33
If that is the case then you may need to retake the test. It would be a real problem if they accused you of contract cheating in the test. At this point you have to fight the urge to keep inquiring about why the results haven't come out yet. Wrong assumptions and fake information is the last thing you need. Wait for the factual communication. Keep your strength up as best as you can. I think you should get a full body massage to help you sleep and relax your brain. You've been in overdrive far too long. You could accidentally cause yourself physical and mental damage now. Is there any way you can get a change of scenery for a few days? That may help you relax and take your mind off things till we get definite and confirmed information from your uni. Prioritize your mental health, please.

What is the status on the blackmail? Have they tried to contact you? If you look at some previous posts here you'll see that I was also blackmailed recently so wanted to know. In my case they have backed off

But my exam test results are being under review for me and some other students so not sure what does that mean

I will be super happy if they allow me to re-take the exam!
I am remaining calm for now! Thank you

I have a good feeling about you being allowed to retake the exam. Maybe it is plagiarism because they would have contacted you by now if they were doing an academic misconduct investigation.

Now take deep breaths and continue to calm down 😊

To be honest i do have a strong feeling that it is pliagrism maybe!

I am following your advice and remaining calm and not doing anything stupid! During all this dilemma i set another exam (in class) and I think i smashed it at least this is something good!

@Agirl33
That is good to hear. Say, here is an idea, why not take the time to prepare for the test in question in case they ask you to retake it? That way you will be better prepared and more confident once they finally tell you that you have to take the test over? You just lacked confidence the first time.m, so you hired someone to take the test for you. I know things will be different for you now. You can ace this test.

I know for a fact i could of passed that test if i took it! At the time i was going thro so much (personal issues) that made me make that silly decision.

If they give me a reset it will be in August! I will def prepare for it really well!!

Thank you once again

Wishing you only the best results. Let us know if you had to retake the test and what the result of the 2nd take will be. It'll be part of the lesson that students can factor in when considering hiring a company or writer for exam contract cheating.

Nowadays professors scrutinize every student's exam results before releasing them. I feel there is no alarm. So, don't worry. I couldn't see the screenshot, blurred image. Perhaps you can try to post a clear one.

@Agirl33 The note does not say anything specific in this case but there is definitely a serious investigation taking place. The reference to university investigation procedures could indicate a suspicion on wrongdoing of the exam takers part. Your friend should hear more from the university as soon as they complete the process. I cannot say if this is a positive or negative development at this point. The response is a template message that is meant to be a non-answer to the query. Have you ever had to wait this long for your test results before?

This was our first ever exam for this year so not sure... its a week delay now!
Also, i rang student union for advice and they said alot of students are experiancing "under review" results due to some exam papers being randomly picked up for sampling and checking! Mayne its a coincidence that my exam paper is one of them.

Im trying to remain positive as you advised me to do .

@dissertation7. Thank you for your post.
The majority had their results back , only me and few other students are waiting so far.

Just your luck to get picked then. You know how slow these guys can move. Specially at the start of the academic year. Since this is the first test, maybe they are still experimenting with a new system they just installed or something. That response sounds very reassuring. Your test answers did not trigger any red flags. That should help ease your mind as we await the results.
