Does this forum protect against libel? Hello I was wondering if this website (many other like it) have a safeguard against libelous claims? I have a friend who has a legitimate company that is being talked very bad about on this website. I know 90% of his writers in person and we all go out for drinks and talk about how ridiculous this is. What steps are being taken by administrators to prevent real business owners from being hurt here? My uncle is a business lawyer and plans to sue a woman who has posted on this and many sites slandering my friends legitimate company. She did not get paid as a writer because she took 3-4 extra days to turn it in getting the student an F, not fulfilling her contract. Now she spams the internet trying to enact revenge. I think our society as a whole needs to be careful about letting people do this sort of thing.

that's how business goes.. as a matter of fact, there are many websites that are being trashed (for reason or lack thereof or whatever) everywhere.

David, Jordan Kavoosi is a moron and a loser. I don;t say this out of any personal interaction with him or his companies, but the videos he has posted of himself at "work" pretty much confirm this. My guess is that you are actually Kavoosi yourself (your grammar and usage is atrocious enough to have been written by the same hand as the articles bearing Kavoosi's name that appear on various websites), but I don't really know.

What I do know is that you're a tool, and so is Kavoosi, and people can post pretty much anything they want to on a public forum The burden of proof is on you if you want to go ahead with a libel lawsuit, and you wouldn't be able to hold the owners or operators of the forum accountable--you'd have to go after the poster. Of course, that would give them a chance to file a countersuit for the money they claim Kavoosi owes them (which they might want to do anyway), and it would mean Kavoosi would have to get off his lazy ass and actually work a bit.

DavidN and Pheelyks - I am not going to comment on any specific sites or individuals.

(But actually, Pheelyks the BURDEN OF PROOF is ON YOU to PROVE that someone is a loser, or running a scam site and NOT on them to prove their innocence. Geddit now?)

I am, however, going to point out to everyone that many instances of libel ARE posted on this site all the time, sometimes by writers who have been sacked by essay companies for their poor work I presume; somethimes by unreasonable students who are customers of essay sites and feel wronged somehow; and sometimes by those who just like abusing others, or the competition, not to mention promoting their own essay companies (eg WritersBeware from *********).

Therefore, NO POST on this site should be taken seriously and all using this site should realise that Essay Scam may be not a 100% legitimate and impartial guide to which essays sites are scams and which are good, but merely a forum for anyone to say anything about anyone or any company. It admits as much in its Terms of Use - though sadly the mods do not enforce them, so lies from some posters remain for ever on here. Essay Scam is not a consumer site like WHICH or TRADING STANDARDS, after all, and is not regulated or accountable to anyone.

Remember: the internet allows ANY IDIOT to spout ANY NONSENSE they want to - using it intelligently requires intelligence, constantly in short supply it seems...

The laws on internet libel are not yet fixed, either, and liable to change at any time; for example, some think ISPs are liable, but they refuse to accept this. Americans' obsession with lawyers is second only to their obsession with their emotions! ABSURD!

But the sad fact is? Anyone who trusts what they read here and consider it reliable fact do not deserve to be awarded a degree in anything other than stupidity.

On what basis is your `lawyer uncle' planning to sue the writer? Did Jordan ask him to? If so and supposing your uncle agreed, he is not very aware of your `friend's' business practices. Kavoosi has defrauded not one, but several writers and accusations of non payment follow him everywhere. Furthermore, his lying about his industry experience, qualifications, etc., is consumer fraud.

Please update us on the status of the lawsuit. Suing someone for telling the truth would be a very interesting first :)

The company has a *DND list that offers the forum protection from lawsuits. St does not protect those who post against being sued for libel. They will legally cooperate with an investigation but, because users offer no private data when they sign-up, they do not really believe they can be of much help. Writers that register for paid promotional services are covered by data protection laws so only a court order can make them surrender user information.

Why would anyone willingly post a message that they know has libelous content to begin with? Nobody accidentally commits libel, not in this very litigious era that we live in. Everyone knows libel repercussions are swift in coming through community guidelines, even before the lawsuit is filed. There is no SM form that protects its users from libel suits. This forum is no exception . Think before you type, review before you hit Post. If you feel whatyou wrote maybe seen as libelous, delete it. Do not expect others to protect you from shooting yourself in the foot. Protect yourself from libel. If you do not have anything nice or useful to say, then keep quiet. That is how you protect yourself from libel.
