My trial dissertation pages completed by a writer who orders from a writing agency?

I went through a funny situation. I posted an ad for an example dissertation service. A few writers contacted me. One of them sent a resume which looked professional. The resume had all the bells and whistles, including description about the expertise in my subject area.

Trial DissertationHe offered to write a 2-page literature review as a trial to test him. I agreed and paid half of his normal per-page fee.

One or two days later, I contacted a couple of professional writing services by filling out a contact form on their websites. I thought it would be the safest option in case the freelance writer fails to deliver the trial on time. One of the companies contacted me with a strange message. They basically asked if it was me who ordered a 2-page paper on exactly the same topic (and same instructions) because they are still working on it. They wanted to make sure I don't order twice by mistake. When I replied that I've never ordered from them before and asked for more details, they gave me a small hint which allowed me to realize it was the same person/freelancer who was supposedly working on my trial pages who ordered the paper from them! Then I looked up this person's email and other details online which discuss some Kenyan/African writers with strange-sounding names.

So my conclusion (hopefully it's reasonable enough) is that a writer from Africa has ordered trial pages from a professional service in order to make me believe he would be able to complete the rest of the work for the full amount. Not sure if it makes sense or is even likely, but that's my experience so far. Hopefully some student will find it interesting and useful.

Writers from some countries can surely be creative. You're probably right; this writer's goal was to impress you with the trial pages so that you feel more comfortable paying the rest. It's still strange though because the best dissertation services usually charge more than freelancers; in result, I doubt this writer would order the rest from a writing agency. He'd probably not bother ;).

Update: no reply from the writer. The company sent me a coupon so I guess I'm going to go with them. Lesson learned.

I've had people obviously posing as prospective clients approach me several different times when it was pretty obvious that they were trying to be a middleman while pretending to a student that they were the writers. Usually, they also asked for some work first promising to pay afterwards. They probably took money from a real client up front and had no intention of paying the actual writer after the fact. They'd probably have used whatever work they got for free that way from writers desperate enough for work to agree to payment after delivery to convince the client that they were legit and then they'd have just pocketed the pre-payment for the whole assignment after gaining their trust based on the free work from the desperate writer.

Outsourcing is a hallmark of the custom writing industry on all levels. One sure way to find out where a service is located and whether the work is being outsourced is by looking at the rates charged.

Lower that average rates can suggest the following:

1) The owners of the service do the writing (both undergraduate and graduate papers) themselves.

2) The work is outsourced to freelance writers who are willing to accept extremely low rates (likely because they live in a country where there is a low standard of living).

3) The service is legitimate and has a business model that depends on getting a lot of orders at a lower margin.

It's impossible to really know until you see the quality of the work delivered. If you're unsure about a service I suggest placing a very small mock order. It will save you from having to scramble in the event that the quality is poor. That's one method we've used at my service. We provide new writers we bring on with a mock job to work on. It costs us $20-$40 but saves us the headache of having to deal with a crappy writer that happened to submit great samples.

No. He did not hire a professional service. He did not outsource the paper. He was the writer you previously hired. You probably hired him based on a different company name or hiring situation. Regardless, you accidentally contacted one of their partner companies, which is why they were familiar with your paper. You cannot place the same order twice under the same group of companies. It is just like a writer cannot be hired twice, by working for a partner company.

Gone are the days when writer's would outsource papers that they could not write to other writers or writing companies. These days, there are some lazy, 3rd world writers who will just turn to AI to write the paper for them, which they then turn over to the clients as a fresh paper. That is why students need to be wise these days when hiring independent writers or writing companies. Make sure that he won't just use an AI to write your paper and then charge you for it. You could do that for free using any of the openly available, legitimate AI apps in the market.
