For your information: it has been decided by academics that over 50% of major inventions in the world were invented by British people. Britain was the first industrialised modern country, the first modern democracy - and yes, we did stop slavery and spread democracy, decency and the rul of law around the world - with the support of those in Asia and Africa actually in our great and benevolent Empire. Actually, you assume like an ass here. I was referring to two facts: 1) Charles Babbage who invented the counting machine in the 19th century (in the science museum London); 2) the first modern mainframe computer at Manchester university in 1948. ALL British! Read it and weep, oh ignorant one.
Trains: "yup, that was the Brits (or so I've heard)". Yes, (NOT 'yup'!), and so was RADAR, the jet engine, LCD screens, the TV, and much much more besides. That not invented by Brits was usually invented by Germans (eg Cars, sound recording - Edison did not invent anything, remember, not even sound recording - another lie). The Americans have just invented obese people, I think, and self-help books - oh and the essay scam cheat industry.
