It can be worse that that. I've had "managing editors" at a certain unnamed company demand incorrect changes on other incorrect changes under the threat of being financially penalized. The compounding stupidity is breath taking.

You can find plenty of writers on the middle agency sites like eLance and the like. Reddit also has HireaWriter sub. You can also vet the writer with a simple Skype conversation. Some of the few clients I've pulled in have asked for a Skype conversation to verify my native English status.

Like Major said, price is a missing key component to answering you question. With that said, I've seen American writers work for as low as $9 per page on some of the company sites. I've reluctantly worked for that little in the past.

Yeah, I'm making more as I learn about the biz. I dig what you are saying MeoKhan, but there has to be a floor for writer's pay that is a bit more than 10 bucks per page. The one company I worked for had it set up so that it was nearly impossible to either not get penalized or get hit up with endless revisions. As far as I could tell, they had no problem retaining writers in this system. But that's a another topic for another time.
