Guys, I've heard IRS is looking into online writing companies because they don't like the fact so many independent contractors are in this market. They want all of them to be classified as employees. After reading Editor75 statements it looks to me he is an IRS agent or their lawyer.

It's not to protect writers, but to make sure that the IRS have a better control over them for tax purposes.

(And I'm serious.)

Happy New Year everyone.

I agree with FreelanceWriter (is it the first time? lol). I must admit I also take orders from various essay agencies (at the same time I'm trying to get my own sites off the ground and get more private clients, but that's not that easy :(. I was never told to take an assignment I didn't like or login to the panel at particular date or time, or even take a minimum number of assignments. Freedom of working as a freelance writer on my own conditions is what keeps me cooperating with essay agencies. I re/start working on my own sites during the slow seasons like now but then give them up once the busy season starts to stick with companies :).

Because you don't write well enough to work for them,

They didn't even give me a chance, so I'm starting my own websites, their loss : )

I heard they are the biggest company and have hundreds (or thousands?) of active writers and 'thousands of available orders' in the busy season (that would be something because other companies have no more than 50 or 100?). But they didn't reply to my email.

But in such situation customer has no choice. If you are at a gas station and need gas and gas owner tells you to show your ID before he gives you access to the pump - you have no choice, you give him your ID or else you are stuck in the woods. But that is the violation of the customer's privacy and taking advantage of the customer's situation (need for a service).

Roger, in my opinion, you're a former "writer" and prospective site-owner who is dishonestly fishing for information..

It may be a valid opinion, but the problem I raised still remains.

Customer's real names will be known to the company as soon as they make a payment.

But when they don't make a payment the information from the First/Last/Phone fields are or easily could be saved (even without submitting the form if it's done via Ajax). Where is the customer's privacy in that case? In my opinion requiring potential customers to enter their most private information (first, last name, phone number) just to fill out a contact form is a privacy violation. What is your opinion on that?

Why some writing services on their order page REQUIRE to enter First and Last name (+ phone number)? I don't imagine clients would want to provide their real names, especially that I don't really want to order.

Just trying to figure out if and why this is needed on the form.

I don't want to hurt your feelings so I don't answer off-topic questions. I just wanted to know the number of essay sites.

How many essay sites out there?

How many essay writing websites are out there? Has anyone counted them? Trying to figure out if it would be hard to kill my competition +). I mean both company websites and individual freelance essay writers, if possible :).

Is it about 1,000, or more?

What is the best and the worst rate per page you have ever got? Let's see how we compare against each other :D

Btw. you may indicate if the rate was your own clients or thru a company.

Why would a writer want to get an account with a company and never complete a single order for them? (or only complete a few a year?).

Isn't it waste of time/money by both the company and the writer?

So far the best essay affiliates I found pay 30%. But still I don't think that's a very good commission? I do all the job to bring clients.

What is the highest paid commission in this industry, can I get 40-50%??
