Just completed Graduate School looking to earn extra income writing papers

Before you start advertising your services as a writer, you may want to contact the lowerclassmen in your university first.

Offer to sell your previously written class essays to whomever is taking the same class and would be interested in making his research and essay life easier.

The professors tend to give the same essay and research topics over the semesters so your previously written papers can serve as true "model papers" for these students. As you sell the paper to the students, inform them that you are also available to write original research papers and essays for them.

That is, if they like your work in the sample paper. I had a few friends who developed an immediate client base as academic writers by using this technique.

It is almost foolproof. If they like your sample paper, there is a 100% chance that they will hire you to write original papers for them in other classes.

With any luck, you will also gain a client base through word of mouth so you will not have to ever work for a writing company. You will start out and generate income repeatedly without the middleman.

@Smiley73 is on to something here. A student with a large collection of personal essays, opinion, and research papers should not look to writing companies to earn their income. They just need to resell the papers as "model" papers that can be really useful to students. Set up a website, get a good server, have someone deal with the logistics of the business then take over by uploading your papers and promoting your site on social media and similar places. Google may even promote it since you are not an academic writing company. This could be the start of the student actually branching out and becoming a legitimate independent writer since the students who buy the model papers may just decide to come back and ask if the former student can help them find writers who can create original content for them. That's it. The best way to earn extra income without breaking a sweat is to sell your old papers first.

Reselling old papers can bring in some easy income, sure, but the OP will want to set some terms/policies. If the OP's paper begins to circulate the same university (you know many won't change a danged thing in the paper), the client will be at risk (yes, of his/her own doing, granted), but the OP can be in deep water, too. The OP could have his/her degree revoked if it were discovered that he/she sold papers that led to obtaining that degree.

If reselling your own work, I'd be very careful and make the terms of use clear, all the while knowing that the majority will ignore the terms and submit the paper as their own.

I have no idea what the value is of reviving these nearly-decade-old threads and of addressing the "OP" who registered here in 2009 and never returned after his one and only post on this forum. I doubt the "OP" still has any contact with his university, because whether or not he ever managed to sell his old papers in 2009, he's no longer interested in the response. More importantly, prewritten projects that may still have had some value in 2009 when turnitin was relatively new to the scene would be entirely worthless today.

I do not think reselling one's work would be a lucrative deal for graduated student. What with Turnitin and other plagiarism software out there, the student would be taking too much of a risk. However, any student who has a collection of his previously written research papers and essays can use them to get himself clients. At least he has sample work to send to students should they ask for it. I think this posting is still relevant. There will always be students who have graduated and would want to work on a part time basis while searching for regular employment. This post could point new graduates in the right direction. My advice to people like the OP is different though. It would be better for him to float himself as an independent writer via social media. That is where the client base is at the moment. That is the best place to start. Or, he could simply sign up at this forum as a Featured Writer or advertise via EssayBrand. I know through the grapevine that students are always looking for writers to hire directly within those 2 platforms. It takes a little financial investment to get started in the independent business. It would be a fine way to try and set yourself up financially at the start. Who knows, it might turn into a permanent career for the student.

It is no longer feasible to make a living as an academic writer these days. It is near impossible to break into the market since AI took over most of the student classwork and projects that used to be outsourced to human writers. These days, the best an academic writer can hope for as employment, would be to aid in the training of an Ai writing app so that students who pay for the AI writing service can efficiently use the program.
